Shasta after Google…read moreMaps directed us to go up a detour route (Esperanza Road) with rough chip seal gravel. :( We called Black Butte Towing, and our driver, Dave, went above and beyond to help us fix the tire and salvage our backpacking plans. First, after we explained that we had gotten a ride to the McCloud Ranger station, Dave picked us up there without question. On the long and tedious journey back up to our car, his conversation and friendly demeanor helped put us at ease. A true professional, he was attentive and efficient with the tow itself. On the drive back, he made sure our car and our stomachs were looked after; he pulled into the parking lot of his favorite milkshake place to confirm that the vehicle hadn't slid sideways on the journey AND he bought us a sweet treat there, knowing the stressful day we had had. He insisted on paying. What a guy! As it had gotten late in the day, the tire shop to which we wanted to take the car wouldn't admit us (and didn't have a spare in a compatible tire anyways). Dave offered to drop us off at a hotel and remained flexible as we continued to explore our options. The grand finale? Just as our hopes were dimming to get the tire fixed that same day in order to attempt our summit, Dave offered to tow us to the nearest AutoZone, where we could pick up a cheap tire plug kit and try to plug the tire ourselves. That worked!! He patiently taught us how to install a tire plug, spending at least two extra hours after the original tow, all with a cheerful and positive attitude. Because of Dave, we were able to make it back to the Clear Creek trailhead late that same night, car camp, and attempt our summit early the next morning as planned. All in all, we were blown away by the customer service at Black Butte towing, and we could not thank Dave enough for the expert help and human kindness he showed us. 6 star review (if it were possible).

Classic intro, but...if I could give more stars, I would…read more On July 3rd (afternoon/evening before the long 4th of July weekend), we were broken down on I5 in the Shasta Mountains. We had double coverage (AAA Platinum and Good Sam) for our 35' Class A motorhome. AAA had no service providers available. GS first made us research where was wanted to take our RV, and when we finally found a destination, they said it would be $2,500 ($1,000 out of pocket up front) and 4-5 hour wait. The Freightliner service center recommended Black Butte Towing. Not only were they less than the total GS total quote, but he stated he could be there within 45 minutes (which he was). Zach was extremely professional, friendly and competent. We honestly had no idea what was entailed in towing a Class A motorhome (including disconnecting the drive train). Cannot thank and praise Zach enough for him getting us and our 2 dogs off the mountain and to Freightliner while they were still open that night. We went from desperation on the side of the road to a 5-star experience with Zach and Black Butte Towing.

I'd also driven from Jubilee Railroad Campground in Dunsmuir, an hour or so away from Mike's, and wanted to deal with damage to my rv when I hit the electrical unit there when I backed into the space I'd been given. Mike impressed me by the way he dealt with me. Before my recent experience with Mike, I thought I was a good judge of people. Now I realize he fooled me. A door of one of the storage compartments of the rv needed to be replaced. "The insurance will probably take a long time to get to your claim," he told me. "If you write a check to me now, I can order one now and get to work on it sooner." I wrote the check. I waited with my rv for 10 days for Mike to get the door and start working on my rv, then I gave up. I told Mike to return the door when it arrived and then return my money. The door never arrived. When I contacted Mike, he said he couldn't order it because the company needed more information which he couldn't provide since my rv was no longer located where he was. I told Mike to send me $1200 from my payment to him and keep the rest for the time he'd spent on the job. "That's fair," he said. It's been over 2 months since that conversation. I haven't been able to contact Mike by phone or email since then. I sent the note below to him telling him that I would post this review if I hadn't received my money by October 7. It is now October 14. I've had no response from Mike. He still owes me $1200.

July 23, 2015 at 4:47pm After noticing a burning smell while driving down the mountain with a friend into town from our campsite, and checking the oil to see that it seemed to be empty, The Pit Stop was the first place we found. Although Chad was pretty swamped, he managed to fit my friend's car in in about an hour and not only filled the oil and alerted her to a big leak(and gave us pointers on how to keep on top of it for the drive home to San Francisco), but also vacuumed the floor of the front seat of the car. The other place in town we called took my number and didn't call back til the next day. No big, folks are busy, but I'm not sure what we would have done if we hadn't found The Pit Stop. Thanks Chad!

If I could give 10 stars I would!!…read more Talk about service!!! These guys are amazing. The skid plate came lose and with every bump we hit, so did the skid plate. Had to pull off, get a hotel room and after 5 calls to mechanics, chanced it that these guys would help. Boy did they! No fuss, happy to help, gave the kids toys and had us back on the road in 10 minutes. They didn't hesitate to help me out and wouldn't charge me!! I really appreciate their help and excellent service. All other mechanics in town, take a lesson from these guys.

Mount Shasta is our "halfway point", and we just love the little town. We woke to hit the road home, went outside to load our things, when I noticed my tire was flat the rim. I put in a AAA request. Within 20 minutes, David from Ramshaw's towing arrived. We discovered together that my car does not have a spare tire, but only a tire air compressor. David was so kind, quick to find a solution, and even let us load up in his truck to tow us (and my car) to the nearest tire shop. He had already called the tire shop and confirmed that we would be arriving and that they had the correct tire in case a replacement was needed. David was great, from start to finish! It's nice to know that if anything should happen like this again, we a place to call that we're comfortable with and already have a repoir with. Lift tickets for the morning at Northstar. How can this get any worse? Luckily for me, the GPS had found us Shasta Auto Supply. Looking for metric sizes in a "Made in the USA" city isn't easy but the salesman rifled though all the stock to find me a metric allen wrench set. He apologized for not having singles, but who the hell would stock only a 8mm allen wrench? I still have my boards today because the guy that helped me was sure they had a metric set and took the time to find the one (dust and all) in the store. Great to find such wonderful help when I was in such a pinch.
