About a month ago I was heading up north from mineral California to meet my boyfriend for a weekend of fishing. My 2000 Toyota Corolla had a known oil leak but for whatever reason I kept putting of stopping at an auto parts store to get more oil. I guess I stopped worrying about the engine blowing since it hadn't blown yet and everything always seemed to work out. Well this was the final straw. I pushed that old Corolla one too many times and around dunsmuir I knew something was really wrong. Actually I passed dunsmuir and had to coast down an on ramp backwards to get back to the town. I made it to a gas station in dunsmuir and put some oil in my car, hoping it would work. After dumping some oil in the engine I CONTINUED to drive on the interstate. This was a big mistake, my car was losing power and I knew something was terribly wrong. Luckily I made it into weed California and Bills auto shop was the first mechanic I saw. I coasted in and told them what was happening. Now this place is obviously a family run joint and the son talked to me and said he hoped it wasn't what he thought it was (blown engine). He started my car and knew right away that I had in fact blown the engine. But to verify he had his dad check it out too, it was confirmed, I blew the damn engine. I promptly burst into tears and had a melt down. They were so kind to me through out this whole fiasco they even found a place where I could store my car. They seemed genuinely caring and kind. By letting me keep my car there so much worry and stress was alleviated, I would've been hard pressed to tow and get rid of my busted car. I am so grateful for these guys! read more
