We drove approximately an hour to the resort and had a restaurant reservation inside the hotel. Our intention was simply to relax and enjoy a special occasion together. When we arrived, I had my physical ID, but my wife had accidentally left hers at home. She had a photograph of her ID on her phone. The younger female assistant who initially helped us was very nice and courteous, and she issued us room keys for Room #319. We appreciated her assistance and professionalism. Unfortunately, the supervisor, Marissa, then stepped in and informed us that my wife's photographed ID would not be accepted. I explained the situation and asked whether there was any alternative way to verify her identity, but Marissa continued to say no. What disappointed me most was the manner in which she communicated with us. Her responses came across as dismissive and lacking in courtesy and empathy. I understand that hotels have identification and security policies, and I respect the need to follow them. My concern was not simply that Marissa would not accept the photograph; it was that she did not appear willing to explore any alternative options or handle the situation with greater professionalism. I even contacted hotel security for assistance. The security supervisor was very polite and made an effort to help by asking Marissa twice whether anything could be done. Unfortunately, the answer remained no, and we ultimately decided not to proceed with our stay. I requested a refund and received the full $1,069. While I appreciate that the refund was issued, it did not change the disappointment of having our anniversary and birthday celebration disrupted after driving an hour and making plans for the occasion. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, particularly because the situation could have been communicated and handled more professionally. The initial assistant and the security supervisor were courteous and helpful, and I want to acknowledge their efforts. However, our interaction with Marissa overshadowed the experience. I have submitted a formal complaint requesting that resort leadership review the incident, provide a written apology, and consider an appropriate goodwill gesture. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and recognizes that enforcing a policy and treating guests with respect should go hand in hand. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a memorable celebration for my wife and me ended in frustration and disappointment.

My GPS did take me to the closest address at the mall so I did have to look around the parking lot but I'm discovering that's normal. That was new for me as I have never really seen something like that despite temperature being close to 50F, my car being the only one at the charger, and the battery was pre-conditioned ahead of time. I wouldn't mind using this location again in the future especially because it's surrounded by restaurants and small shops like Royal Farms to kill time.
