Great location for a charger. Got some Dudley's Bread and a Julian Pie for dessert! Really nice to have EV charging in these remote locations. There is also a level 2 ChargePoint as well.

At long last the eastern part of SD has a supercharger! 8 v3 SC stalls total. Giving this a 5-star because the presence of this SC is a *game changer* in terms of trip planning. - For those coming in from SD proper it eliminates range anxiety if you are planning a road trip to the area. It is situated right on the intersection where the 79 and the 78 meet. Continuing along the 79 for 6 more miles will take you right to Julian. - It makes for a convenient pit stop if going to Borrego Springs or Ocotillo Wells. - The scenic route to Palm Springs/Joshua Tree via the Salton Sea (86 to 111) or through the San Jacinto mountains (371 to 74) becomes much more feasible without range anxiety kicking in. After the Central Coast (SB to Monterey) and Lone Pine to Bridgeport routes this is supposedly one of the most scenic road trips in CA. Finally I can attempt the desert scenic drive in the future. The businesses in the area are also well known amongst SD locals. Restaurants Farmhouse 78 - never tried this place so can't say anything about it. Julian Pie Company - Personally I prefer Mom's (https://www.yelp.com/biz/moms-pie-house-julian-2?hrid=sWw5dWpF23bUmwcHQPED-Q) but it avoids having to go to Julian proper if all you want is apple pie. Then again if you want Mom's it's a 5-minute drive from here en route to Julian. Dudley's Famous Bakery and Deli - A very famous bakery in SD. People travel all the way from SD proper just to get bread here. Most famous loaves are their date nut raisin and jalapeno cheddar, both which I can attest to. Shopping Don's Market - Julian cider is notably sold here.

8 high output superchargers at Santa Ysabel and pie nearby at the Julian Pie Company. Yum!

Our little blue rocket needed nourishment and the superchargers at Santa Ysabel were ready with 137 kW and 481 mi/hr. Wow! This supercharger is also ready with many options for yummies nearby. The Julian Pie Company has its array of pie goodness ready to tempt anyone who enters. We had the Dutch Apple Pie of course! There are also the Farmhouse Country Eatery, Dudley's Califonia Bakery, and Don's Market steps away from the chargers if you need more than pie. Hard to imagine needing more than pie though. Soon we were on the road again, fully charged with pie, energized, and ready to go. Yay!

I am amazed! Even here there are chargers. So happy to see this! Even a great pie shop close by! Go Tesla!

Stopped by after visiting Julian ( so many people there lunch lines were hours)…read more Wife ordered Chicken Pot Pie and I ordered the Hot Chicken Sandwich. This was the best meal we've had in a long time. Pot pie was so cute as crust was a not the traditional crust on top, but rather chicken shaped crust standing in the pot pie, and the pearl onions were the eggs. Wife said it was the best pot pie she has ever eaten. My Hot Chicken sandwich had a taste profile that was the right heat and nice flavor balance. Best I've ever eaten. Service was excellent, and the restaurant was modern and updated. Could have asked for better food and service. This will definitely be on come again list.

We had high hopes this place would improve... but nope. This was my second visit--and definitely my…read morelast. I even brought friends who had never been here before, thinking it could become one of our regular stops when we're out hitting the trails. Instead, it left a bad taste in everyone's mouth... and not just from the food. Waitress: Where do I even start. She claimed she was hard of hearing--but her attitude spoke loud and clear. Tossing menus on the table, aggressively slamming salsa down, and getting snarky over being off because our party count was off by one person. Seriously? It took two seconds to adjust the table, but apparently that was just too much. Yes, she technically did her job... but with such a cold, unwelcoming, and rigid attitude that it made the whole experience uncomfortable. What really stood out? We were there first and ready to order, yet she chose to take care of every smaller table that came in after us. No communication, no "I'll be right with you," nothing. Just ignored. Basic courtesy clearly isn't part of the service here. And trust me--I used to be a waitress. I handled large parties all the time and actually communicated with my tables. It's not that hard. Honestly, if gratuity hadn't already been forced onto the bill, she would've gotten $0. The only pleasant person we encountered was the busser--quick, friendly, and actually seemed like he wanted to be there. Maybe swap their roles, because he outperformed her by a mile. Food: Let's talk about the food... if that's what we're calling it. Everything came out cold. Not "warm-ish," not "could be hotter"... just straight up cold. It felt like our plates were sitting under a heat lamp for way too long before making it to the table. One "white" friend asked to have her meal fixed--fine, no problem. But when another "Hispanic" friend asked the same thing? Suddenly there was attitude, menu slamming, and mumbling under her breath. So... what exactly was the difference? Why the inconsistency and hostility? If the kitchen is that backed up, maybe management should step in and help instead of letting food die in the window. Just a thought. Final Thoughts: This place had potential... but that waitress single-handedly ruined it. We'll be taking our group (and our money) elsewhere--Dudley's Bakery is looking like a much better option moving forward. I usually bring large groups out here, so this isn't a small loss. Unfortunately, if this is the level of service they're okay with, this place isn't going to improve anytime soon. At this point, it's less "Farmhouse charm" and more "junky barn energy."

Yep I sure did make the drive out here to grab me one of their popular pies…read more Julian is known for their many variety of pies. But especially their many flavors of apple pies. I got their caramel dutch apple crumb pie. Glad I did because it was absolutely delicious when I drove back to OC and had some. Just needed to warm it for 30 seconds and I was in pure heaven. The caramel top made it even that much better. The crust to apple filling was perfect. And it had the perfect amount of sweetness. I highly recommend it. You can even get their pies frozen to take back if you like. Besides pies, they also had other baked goods such as their pastries, cookies, and donuts. I would love to their their popular apple cider donut. Besides pies and baked items they also had goodies, such as their house made apple honey, apple cider flavor popcorn, and apple butter. The staff was nice and my pie came out pretty quick. They have limited seating inside and a nice patio outside to enjoy your treat. There is plenty of parking. I would definitely come back.

I've been hearing friends talk about this spot so i decided to drive up to Julian for the weekend…read moreand try it out! After a nearby hike I came in here to reward myself so i bought a slice of mountain berry pie with vanilla ice cream and a cinnamon roll to go. Parking was great, no line inside, the prices were pretty high. (Esp the cinnamon roll) The pie was actually really good minus the hair that was in it.. The cinnamon roll was super disappointing. I wanted to warm it up and eat it with my afternoon coffee so i got it to go. When i opened it i immediately saw how dry it was. The sides were hard to the touch. I hoped microwaving it would help..nope.. for that high of a price you'd hope it wasnt stale. Definitely not coming here again, ill try Mom's next time!
