I have an older Logan 2 horse trailer. The center bracket on it has been rewelded 3 times by three different shops. It wasn't until that I brought it here that I could tell this repair would last! Today I the pleasure of shopping for a new horse trailer at Southwest Trailers in Ramona, CA. My experience could not have been better. I called ahead and spoke to Hunter in Sales. He spent a great deal of time with me, reviewed my needs, my truck's towing capacity and bed weight tolerance, and then his applicable inventory. We drove up and he met us immediately; COVID19 social distancing was observed and masks were worn. He listened attentively to our needs and showed us all of trailers inside and out, showed us specs, and all the features. He compared and contrasted various features on different trailers. He was attentive and knowledgeable and we were not rushed and at no time were we pressured to buy. We made a choice of a terrific trailer and he was both very patient and efficient with the paperwork/sales/DMV process. George in the service department was equally amazing. He inspected and washed the trailer and did a thorough walk-through with us with confidence and spent as much time with us showing us hitching details, new CA state regulations and laws applicable to towing, safety features, and important aspects of check points for the future for bolt and lug tightening for new trailers, as well as important considerations for pulling the horses short and long distances, loading/unloading, water tank characteristics, special lights, locks, window operation, and locks. Only place I could find in all of Southern California that had PJ utility trailers in stock, and there's a reason for it - Price gouging. Kamal wouldn't budge on price, said his margins were too low and asked "what do you want me to do? How do I make a profit?". I told him his prices were $1000 more than other dealers, and he said "they're lying to you". When I showed him the prices he said "maybe I should buy from them as they're selling it cheaper than my cost". I told him maybe he should buy trailers with a better margin and move more inventory. Also noticed the trailers he was selling looked beat up. The paint was scratched in several places, decals were torn, rust was showing. He told me if I wanted a trailer for cheaper I should drive down the street to Tractor Supply Company. I have bought many trailers, this probably being the 7th one and of all the sales this was by far the best experience, prep was happening right away and the paperwork was complete, easy and very fast. The staff (sales, service and paperwork) were all excellent, did I mention fast. Trailer was in excellent shape, they cleaned, check everything, hooked it up, double checked everything again, lights, pressure, etc. We also checked out the drop needed and got accurate measurements on this. I have been researching horse trailers for months. I had been in contact with Kamal several times and he knew I was knowledgable about exactly what I wanted in a trailer. I went out to his shop a few months ago, he gave me the in person tour of a few trailers. We were not ready to purchase until last week, but when we were it was a breeze. Kamal had the exact trailer in stock that I wanted and we did most of the purchase over the phone. His pricing was more than fair and he beat all the other prices in the area. Our family drove up on Memorial Day weekend and we were out of there in less than 30 minutes (it took us longer to get the insurance coverage than to purchase the trailer)! His entire staff was very personable and helpful. They were busy selling lots of trailers, but took the time to help everyone out. We did not feel rushed or pressured at all. The paperwork was all ready for us when we got there, the trailer was freshly washed, all keys and lights were checked and in working order and his rep went over all the bells and whistles and made sure we were hooked up correctly and safe. After being told by DMV that the fees were paid and license were issued to Southwest Trailer Sales, I called them to follow up. Basically told that DMV lied and to do it myself. Wow... where to start? I needed a small 5x8 utility trailer this week for cross state moving and some dump runs. I saw their postings on Craigslist and they had a great price on the type of trailer I was looking for, so I called ahead to insure they had the trailer in stock (they had 2!), then headed up there. The owners are great people to work with... fantastic customer service, very knowledgeable and very friendly. They take care of all the sales, and they do great consultative sales work; whether you are looking at a $891 utility trailer (like me!) or a $70k custom trailer, they spend the time to insure you are buying the right trailer for the job, have all the accessories you will need to haul it off safely and securely and are aware of critical service requirements down the road. The quality of their products are great, and the prices are really good... both on trailers, and on accessories! I drove from Mission Valley up their for their low prices, but I became a customer because of the quality of their products and their great customer service. Apparently the Border Patrol and County of San Diego agrees with me, as I have seen both of those agencies using their trailers around town and at the border (I'm in the Homeland Security field, so I get around quite a bit). Oh, they offer a lifetime inspection service with all trailers they sell. That means that if you have a problem, they are not going to charge you to identify what the problem is... that is great bonus. Oh, their office is gorgeous! It could just as easily be an art gallery with the quality of woods, flooring and lights... a very warm and inviting environment, compared to other trailer companies I have dealt with over the last 30 years (most of them are more like the backroom of an auto-parts store, including the grease! Not here!) Price, Value, Selection, Customer Service... you just cant beat them! Highly Recommended for all your trailer needs, and well worth the drive up there from the city! read more

We're a small business and was looking to add another trailer to our inventory. We looked around online and found a trailer off this companies site that fit our needs. We called in and price was good. Went in person to buy the trailer and customer service was very poor. The salesman and receptionist seemed to be irritated when I asked questions regarding the additional fees or contract details. For something as expensive as this trailer, I felt licensed to ask as much as I pleased in order to feel comfortable about what I was signing: "We're not liable for the trailer once it's driven off the lot." Concerning to me, because we don't get to test drive these trailer. In the process I felt rushed, lack of compassion, and unappreciated for my large purchase. I've been wanting a small 5x8 utility trailer for a while for small tasks like moving a couch or bed or 4x8 sheets of plywood at home depot. I saw their postings on Craigslist. I looked a used trailers on craigslist but I cringed when I saw the condition and as I remembered what my last used trailer needed: two trips to motor vehicle to register, new tires, wheel bearings, electrical work (one light was out), replacement of a rotted board. I also looked at trailers at Home Depot and Lowes but the problem was they had a 4x6 (nice and small for my 4 cylinder car) but too small to carry 4x8 sheets of plywood and big pieces of furniture. Also, the 4x6 trailer was cheap at around $550 (+tax and reg and MVD fees) but as the trailers got bigger the price goes up way over a thousand dollars. I asked about registration and to verify that the trailer was in stock. At this place you talk directly to the owners and it's easy to find. By driving to Ramona I didn't have to pay the "sunshine / coastal tax" and I was able to drive away with a legally registered trailer in 1 hour. read more

This has to be one of the worst experiences I've ever had in retail sales. Kamal was the salesman, if you could call him that, who did everything under the sun to dissuade me from buying a trailer. I was in the market for an aluminum trailer and let my fingers do the walking online to find a brand that was represented by three competitors in Southern California. If I would have known that I would be humiliated, rejected, and insulted by the time I left, I would have taken my business elsewhere and paid the small margin extra to get expected customer service. Hopefully this review will dissuade others from entering the dark void which is Southwest Trailer Sales. As we were negotiating price all throughout the transaction, he seemed to take offense at my humor, so unlike a salesperson. Usually it is the salesman who will try to lighten the mood to ease a customers nervousness, quite the opposite here. He actually got up from his desk and refused to continue the transaction, simply because of a request for an added value item. For the life of me, I have never experienced a sales transaction with such ineptitude. Before I arrived, I anticipated purchasing accessory items for my trailer, mid-way through the conversation I realized I wanted to get out of there as fast as I could, and get as far away as I could from this guy. He therefore lost the opportunity for ancillary sales, through his bumbling attempt to represent a product line.
