I've only been here once, a few weeks ago, to run in a socially distanced Turkey Trot 5K. It was more of a trail run which offered some nice views and terrain to run on. Plenty of paths to run or bicycle on. Trail running seems to be big here with many routes through the wooded areas. Can't say much more since I left after I got my finisher medal and went home. It was Thanksgiving and I had to get ready to feast!

We live very close to this park and use it often to get our little girl out for some excercise…read more This review is for the playground area only and until she get old enough to use other parts of the park including the fields, this will still be a favorite for us due to its proximity to home and the cleanliness of the facilities. We come at least once a week to play with other kids her age and she always has a great time. Seems to be a family park with so many toddlers running about. The jungle gyms are separated by age category and the swings all are in good working order. A rubber floor mat ensures that the children won't hurt themselves during the inevitable falls they encounter. The much larger section of the park contains the playing fields for soccer and field hockey- when we grow a little more, we will update our review to tell you about the meticulous fields we see on the other side of the fence.... Can't wait for a night game or two under the lights.

Breezy Park is a major recreational sports facility built on the site of the former Mohlenhoff…read moreNursery which sold natural pest controllers like ladybugs and mantis egg cases. The park includes two synthetic athletic fields, a practice area, and a playground for little ones and a nice parking lot. It's a great open area for kids to get all their boisterous energy out and adults too. It conveniently connects to Froehlich preserve as well. There's an interesting statue put there in memory of a Lloyd Harbor girl killed by a drunk driver in Texas in 2005. She was 13 years old and had been active in the Cold Spring Harbor Soccer Club. The Mohlenhoff Nursery property was slated to become a bus depot and repair yard for the South Huntington School District but thanks to dedicated and caring residents and a tireless effort by the Cold Spring Harbor Soccer Club, they got the land through its Open Space Preservation Program. I'm not sure how it all unfolded exactly but it's a nice park and a good union with the Froehlich preserve. Hopefully neither will ever be destroyed.

Waking New Year's morning , I went on All Trails for moderate 1st day hike before visiting family in Melville. Noted the Jayne's Hill Trail with the distance I was seeking, about 2.5-3 miles and made my way there. My experience was a serene ans scenic, if somewhat slippery walk as some of the trail was hardpack with an ice glaze. I enjoyed the challenge of finding purchase and having to be mindful of my steps. The terrain was varied, flat, winding, hilly in spots, but I would say easy for anyone. Reaching the summit, no longer ocn and sound views even with the bare trees, but enjoyed the nice memorial to WW. I liked this park enough to return aa few days later to do a longer trail, about 4 miles, which I extended by do some off trail wandering. There is a section that is high above Melville and South Huntington with some lookouts over the neighborhoods surrounding the Whitman Shoppes. Will certainly return as there seem to be additional trails to explore!

It is a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Two hours are enough to experience it all. There is a splash water park with many slides, a refreshment stand with good snacks, a botanical garden, a walking trail with several benches, a gazebo with a bench underneath, and plenty of good spots to picnic. Today I saw several banana trees, a teenage girl posing for photos in her sweet 16 ball gown, a protective swan father guarding his two cygnets and life partner, an amateur fisherman doing a catch and release although fishing is forbidden in the lake, and some youths joyfully playing soccer on the grass. A local resident told me that last Fall he even saw a baby fox wandering around. Geiger Park is a must visit for those who admire nature and seek adventure. It is also a great date spot. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Today, one staff member offered me a free potted Zinnia plant, but I politely declined.

Go to ny.gov keyword: Empire Pass. The same Pass can be used for unlimited visits at most parks and beaches throughout the State of New York. I passed by here on Memorial Day weekend. In plain view was a Park Police vehicle, so I felt safe. I also saw several people riding in a paddle boat. How fun! There are multiple clearly marked trails, which are great places to ride your bike or walk. There were several people feeding the ducks and geese in the lake, ignoring the signs that warn them not to do that. The two children's playgrounds are quite spacious, and leashed dogs are allowed. There are lots of picnic benches and huge tables. The restrooms have a lot of stinky toilets. Staff needs to clean them more often. Finally, BEWARE OF DEER TICKS! A few people said that they saw some, so bring some tick repellent.
