There are also swings for toddlers with the bucket seats, regular swings and one handicap swing. The park is fairly clean. There are picnic areas as well and a small lot if you decide to park there. Plenty of shaded areas to stay out of the direct sunlight. The park has a little library as well to borrow or leave books. My daughter had a lot of fun at the park and we would consider returning.

The park has two handball courts, eight pickleball courts, and three tennis courts. It was very clear which sport is most popular--on a Sunday afternoon, all of the pickleball courts were in use while the tennis courts were completely empty. There were many people playing softball, but no one was using the baseball fields. The soccer nets were available but not in use, and the basketball courts were also empty during my visit. A few observations about the facilities: * Dogs are not allowed in the park under the Town of Islip Code, unless special permission is granted. * The grass is well maintained and kept low. * I saw only one picnic table near the pool, which is currently closed for the season, but there were several picnic tables inside the closed pool area. * Visitors can bring a blanket if they want to sit on the grass during the colder months. * Benches are provided near the softball and baseball fields. However, there is no seating near the pickleball or tennis courts, aside from benches by the nearby baseball field. Overall, this park offers a variety of recreational facilities and is a good location for outdoor activities. The most needed improvement would be the installation of additional seating near the pickleball and tennis courts to better accommodate players and spectators. It's worth visiting if you enjoy pickleball, softball, or simply want a well-kept outdoor space.

Juneteenth at Tanner Park was a good time. I saw many familiar faces, some from the neighborhood…read morewhere I grew up, and some from work. The concert had many vendors but due to me working the event I wasn't able to mingle too much but I did enjoy myself. Aubrey at 9 is a star on the rise with her fresh squeezed lemonade and it was good, she also has flavors you can add to the lemonade. The entertainment was awesome, the stage was filled with known and unknown artists and they all did well, I really enjoyed the young girl singing "so easy". Tanner is an awesome park where you can bring the kids to play, take a walk/run, enjoy a concert orsit by the water and clear your mind.

Overall, this is one of the most magical places I've ever been to and I'm very excited for when I can come back to the pool next summer!

This review is actually for the ice skating rink inside the park…read more It is an outdoor skating rink so make sure you dress warm. The prices are affordable con paired to other ice skating rinks in New York. Rink access is $6 for town of oyster bay and $9 the public. Skate rentals are $5 each. My children don't have much experience with ice skating so having guides would have been helpful. Unfortunately, they do not have an available to rent here. Skate service is quick, they have ample staff to make sure check in and skate pick up is seamless. The rink attendants do a good job of checking on kids when they fall and making sure they're okay and not hurt. The concession stand offers hot chocolate and snacks. We definitely enjoyed hot chocolate after spending an hour on the ice. I enjoyed the cookie dough hot chocolate and cannolis. My kids had the peppermint and gingerbread hot chocolate. We also enjoyed the real wood fireplace to get cozy and warm. Definitely will come back!

Heritage Park is in an area that I have an attachment to. Growing up here in the 1980s, I remember…read morewhen Route 25A was a semi rural road that abutted Davis Peach Farm in Mount Sinai. In the mid 1990s, when I was in my twenties, suburbia conquered the acres of open peach farms at a time when the Route 347 sprawl entended east along Route 25A. In 2013, there was a positive turn of events. On the triangular parcel of former peach farm lane bounded by NY 25A, Coram-Mount Sinai Road, and County Route 83; a developer proposed constructing a home improvement store. Concurrently, the local residents with Brookhaven Township derailed these plans and instead created a beautiful park where residents from all over can enjoy a public space. Heritage Park was born. By now, I was living in Las Vegas. In recent times when I visited my Dad, we had spent time here on four occasions before dining in Lotus East. The way we have experienced Heritage Park is walking the 0.7 mile oval walking path counter clockwise with three bench stops. This review discusses the four experiences here from the perspective of walking the peripheral trail counter-clockwise. To begin with, this is a concrete trail that is level. This has been beneficial to my dad who has had foot issues. Getting on the trail northbound we take in the historic Heritage House. This is a community center that houses local events. For park users this is one of two restroom locations. Continuing north, the Davis Peach farm history lives on with preserved farming equipment by a red barn. As the trail curves west at the triangular northern tip of the park, a community garden and diminutive forest appear to the back of the Heritage House. This is where we sit after walking around the park. Traveling northbound parallel to County Route 83, there are sporadic young trees that have been gradually maturing. Within a few years, I expect them to bring shade to a park that was formerly farmland. It is along this segment where we take our first bench break in a square called "The Court of Americas." This is a neat area where the garden is shaped like the USA that is framed with bricks displaying the names of every US President. From this spot, there is a clear view of the butterfly garden and central walkways. Continuing north, then following an S-curve, my eyes take in the open grass, soccer fields, and baseball fields to the left. At the S-curve, I have seen the most nature in the park that includes rabbits and robins. At the northern preiphery, the trail turns to the left to follow NY 25A. From here, I could see the expanse of open grass reaching towards the Heritage House. Turning to the south, I sometimes cut across the play knoll. I believe that this is the highest point of the park. The trail now parallels Coram-Mount Sinai Road with the soccer field to the left. This is where our second bench stop is. It is a scenic spot that overlooks a decorative waterfall with a miniature pine forest slope providing the backdrop of a putting green fronting open grass reaching towards Route 25A. Continuing north towards the parking lot, the park turns children's friendly. There is a Kids Maze and a playground. What the park is not, is doggy friendly. Dogs are prohibited. Heading more north the scenery features the parking lot to the right with open grass to the left. By now we have walked 0.7 miles. We will conclude the loop at bench stop three overlooking the community garden. Depending on the visit, we have done a second loop or walked back to the car. Speaking of parking. The parking lot is off of Coram-Mount Sinai Road. On all four of our visits there has been sufficient parking. I would like to add that the parking lot is convenient to the the North Shore Rail Trail. Only a short walk along Coram-Mount Sinai Road then across Route 25A is a 10-mile paved trail that connects Mount Sinai to Wading River. This short walk extends the Heritage Park experience into a regional hike or bicycle ride. If I still lived on Long Island, I would partake in it. In conclusion, I give Heritage Park 4-stars. The local residents and Brookhaven Township have created something special.

The park has two lighted pickleball courts and two lighted handball courts, which is a fantastic setup. The only downside is that they could definitely use more pickleball courts--there were so many players waiting to get in, which really shows how popular the sport is here. The park itself feels very well maintained, and I was glad to find plenty of parking. Even though I didn't see them on this visit, according to the Huntington.gov website the park also has two lighted volleyball courts, a skate park, lighted synthetic turf fields for football, soccer, and lacrosse, as well as trails, picnic areas, a playground, two Little League fields, and two comfort stations. With so much to offer, this park really has something for everyone. I'll definitely be coming back!

Not a fan of the mud, but plenty of room for the dogs to run…read more This park is frequented by owners who do not train their dogs and do not attempt to control their dogs when they are attacking smaller dogs. We take our 24 lb dog to the smaller section, which is the limit. There are a number of owners who ate their bigger and aggressive dogs to the park. Our dog has been attacked (not play) and yelped on multiple occasions and the owners either didn't look up from their phones or laughed. Rough dog play is ok. Attacking a smaller dog and making her cry out really just means you shouldn't own a dog. Our dog plays well with other dogs, but the park attracts irresponsible owners. If you are an irresponsible dog owner please go to this park. That way I know how to avoid you in the future.

I bring my small dog here whenever the weather permits because he loves the outdoors, meeting other…read moredogs and humans. I love that he can be completely off the leash and has plenty of space to run around. Plenty of trees to mark and explore.The fences and gates are very secure. They have one side for the smaller dogs (25 lb and under) and another side for the bigger dogs. There are garbage cans but no poop bags available so remember to bring your own. There are also public metal water bowls and they turn on the water spout I'm assuming, once the weather gets warmer. It definitely wasn't turned on earlier this year. Benches can be located on the sides of the fenced in area for the humans and there's a covered area with seating toward the middle of each small and big dog side if you don't want to sit under the sun. A decent sized parking lot is right next to the dog park and there were always spots available the times that I have gone. It is very clean but of course that's also up to the people that frequent the park to pick up after their dogs and themselves. One time I was there, some guy brought his 3 dogs, sat on the bench and paid them no mind for 5-10 minutes. One of them pooped, he didn't pick it up and just left with all 3 dogs. Minus that one guy, all the other dog pawrents that go there were friendly and responsible from the times I've been there. I have heard of some of the bigger dogs fighting so just always keep an eye on your dog, whether you're on the big or small dog side. I highly recommend this dog park!
