After a minute of walking the trail, of which I took a photo with my iPhone, I quickly turned back. As a single female, I prefer crowded parks with plenty of people and security. I am off to another park.

And yeah, that marsh grass just sucked up all the excess water like magic. What marsh grass? Well, the marsh grass that's under all that water. Three million dollars' worth of rocks and marsh grass. Unbelievable. Next time they want to blow three million, they should just give it to me. The flooding situation still won't be fixed, and they'll still be out three million, but at least I'll put it to good use.

Many would arrive by train in the thousands in the summer, living the summer in luxury in the dozen or so huge hotels and resorts that dotted Patchogue waterscape. Leo's was one of the many Resort Hotels in the area at the time. In the 1900s, Mascot Dock was the Main Port and terminal for ocean-going ships barges and other vessels. Tourists, wealthy business Folk and supplies such as hay, Fashions, spices, and other wares from around the world. All traveled through this spot. Hey, hungry from the Salt air folks? Lombardi's on the water is a Beautiful restaurant that stands where the Mascot Inn stood. There was also a place for the kids to borrow beach toys. There's also a playground. There is a lot you can park in if you have a permit, and street parking is also available. I could definitely see this beach getting crowded as the season gets closer, but I would definitely return.

This review will be covering the park and trail. A group of us came here to kill time, and there's…read morea lot to take in. The parking lot is pretty huge, with a number of spaces to hold plenty. It wasn't nearly as busy when we arrived, mainly due to the zoo being closed. There is a trail that does a big loop around the park, including nice scenery to take in. A map isn't really necessary since there is one trail, with the expectation of one branching off into a big field which then meets up again on the main trail. A playground is provided along the trail and also some exercise stations to stop at. It would be nice to see some touch-ups here and there, pertaining to the trails, but nothing major. We didn't cover everything, but this park along with the Wildlife and Ecology Center is the place to come to for a great meet-up.

The Town of Brookhaven established this area, just off Montauk Highway, as a manifestation of temporal punishment for those imperfectly purified or spiritually unrepenting of their venial sins. Behold, the devil's portal, through a fireplace of stone, centered in the "three at once" trees (see pics). Aside from the passing traffic, it is a very still place, best visited at night. There are picnic tables and benches here, as well as a faux wishing well, though your earthly appetites and wants are no longer to be of importance.

Great photo op spot. Golden hour is so pretty here and we are happy we decided to take our engagement photos at this location. Tickets are $17 RT for an adult and the ticket window is CASH ONLY. Last I checked this was 2016, but who's counting... Overall, I suppose this does the job getting you from point A to point B but not my cup of tea.
