Absolutely love this place. Don't know many other dog friendly beaches. All the dogs that come are friendly and they all have a blast. People come with their families and it's all around a good time.

SHHHH Don't tell anyone about it....but here I am leaving a review. Look, does it have glass? Yes...but I've found that on a lot of beaches because people can be pigs. Just be careful, I didn't have any issues and nor did my dog. People here were friendly, it felt very laid back, and the pups were running around having a good time. Don't plan to come here and lay on the sand on a towel....because...well...dogs. But do come here expecting to catch some rays, unwind a bit, laugh plenty at all the cuties coming in, and have a tired pup at the end! This place is a gem in my opinion.

Great dog park to bring your pup so long as they are good off the leash. If your dog likes to explore and sniff around this place is great. My only complaint is that there is a lot of glass laying around the beach that is fairly sharp.

We love coming here ! By we.. I mean my puppers and I. Such a cute little beach park for them. My Weimaraner actually learned how to swim at this beach. There was a group of dogs with their owners that all kept chasing this one tennis ball into the water. Hudson ( my weimy) took off like a bullet into the shore and the let his instincts kick in. Bam. He was swimming like a pro. Such a treasured moment for me as his dog mom. That's why I love this park so much. The reason I'm giving it a four is because there are random shards of beer bottle glass splattered around so please be careful with your precious pups. It's not an overwhelming amount but it's there. Also, many of the owners irresponsibly leave behind pet waste which is not so much on the park but for those nasty pet owners. I recommend not wearing anything fancy as you will get dirty wet paw marks. Also bring a lawn chair. Wouldn't really recommend laying a blanket or sheet down because the dogs go wherever they please but a nice lawn chair will do the trick. Oh yea and some tennis balls ! Fido will surely appreciate it

Love the open space and the water features of this park. There is a wide open grass area, then the beach area that has some waves and then off to the other side a quieter bay/marina area. My dog loved being off leash and exploring. Lost a start because of the trash around the space. There were broken glass bits all over the sand and grass areas. Someone was around trying to pick them up but am afraid if you don't pay close attention your dog could get seriously hurt. Fun times with the pup here!

This park used to be a sand piper reserve, strictly for birds. A few years ago, Brookhaven changed it to a dog park due to an increasing demand from the locals. Since then, many a hound have trafficked here and explored and so on. It's a good place to let your dog explore and meet the seldom other dogs there, but it is also hazardous to your dog. Due to the increased popularity of Mud Creek park being open, more people have been going here as well. (&As they always have been) this has caused a dramatic increase in litter and trash piling up on the sand and in the trees. Please, watch out for your kids and dogs! There is broken glass everywhere! Also, please collect any garbage that you see and dispose of it properly! It is very important to keep the park safe for us, as well as the wildlife whom have originally lived there! Aside from that, it is a good neutral ground for dogs to meet and sniff, and for people to go collect shells! :) please be careful, and protect our enviroment here in Patchogue.

While the sign said closed the nesting birds were gone. I kept my dog leashed and we had a nice quiet time.

The entrance is easy to miss--the sign is small and blends into the bushes, so GPS is recommended. There is a grass and sand parking lot with one handicap space. Inside, the park is divided into two fenced areas: one for small dogs and one for large dogs. Each has a double-gated entrance, but the small dog gate is difficult to close and often left open. Some repairs look to have been done by locals with rope, but proper maintenance is needed. Combined, both sections are about the size of a football field. The large dog area has two shade trees, while the small dog area has none. Each section has a few benches. Visitors have left behind toys and bowls, but it's best not to use the water bowls--others have reported kennel cough. It gets very hot here in the summer months. Bringing water in a bowl is recommended. There are only two trash cans, both outside the fenced areas, and waste cleanup is inconsistent. Bring your own bags (though sometimes donated bags are available). The park is surrounded by brush and fields, with possible poison ivy/oak. Mosquitoes can be an issue, but I haven't had any flea or tick problems here. The county mows every couple of weeks, which helps, though the parking lot and walkways are often overgrown. Most of the dogs are medium to large breeds in the big dog section, but a handful of small dogs do come regularly. Overall, the dogs are friendly and the owners are great--I've only come across one or two dogs that weren't a good fit, which is typical for any dog park. Locals visit year-round, even in the snow, and there's usually at least one or two people here no matter the time of day. There is also an old, unused agility ramp in the large dog area. The park is open year-round with no posted hours. I'm rating this dog park three stars. While I enjoy bringing my dog here and I'm grateful it exists (especially since there aren't many dog parks on Long Island), it needs better maintenance and more accessible trash cans. In my opinion, the small dog area is oversized for the number of small dogs that use it, and overall the park doesn't measure up to four- or five-star dog parks I've visited elsewhere. That said, it's still worth a visit--the space is large, the community of dogs and owners is wonderful, and it's the best option nearby.

Love this place! Dogs are friendly, the people are very nice. Field is huge and all fenced in.read more

I've found that sometimes those that come here for the first time, or not often, don't obey the rules of the dog park. However, after a few years of coming here we really haven't had too many issues and the other owners are generally nice and friendly as are the dogs. I know my Goji loves running around here on the small dog side (25 lbs and less) and always gets exercise. What's also really nice is that there is a handicapped accessible playground here. There aren't any swings but a lot of it is interactive, which is pretty cool. Sadly, the electronic/touch sensitive drums no longer work and the piano has never worked. I wish the town would fix this. There are two benches to watch your kiddo or if you want to sit and eat a snack and there is plenty of room to play. Especially if your child likes slides as there are 6 of them here. It's a good park for a family outing, if one person watches the kids and the other watches the dog. There are also games on the fields here so check it out if you're a local and your child is involved with sports/soccer. Lots of places to grab food nearby after playing, though probably not dog friendly so it may be best to order ahead and grab yourself some take-out before heading home. Also, not sure where the human bathroom is here - probably near the playing fields on the opposite side of playground and dog park area but I can't confirm that. Your doggie will enjoy this place for sure. Woof!
