    Chromeo - 10/04/24

I found myself at Terminal 5 to see two bands I follow who were co-headlining a tour: Chromeo and The Midnight. I enjoy seeing live music, but most of the bands I follow play at venues in Brooklyn. This was the first time I was going to one of similar size in Manhattan - and while I've heard mixed things about Terminal 5, I was excited nonetheless. Terminal 5 is located all the way on the West Side on 56th St and 11th Ave. It's kind of in a food and transportation desert, the only thing in its immediate vicinity are a bunch of car dealerships. The outside is very understated, kinda typical of these smaller venues I've been to. Once inside, however, the atmosphere changes and it gives way to a more grand presence. Decor is kinda plain/industrial which works so that each artist can add their own flair to their show. The main floor is home to general admission (standing room) which houses a bar in the back. There are also two other balcony levels which serve as VIP areas; I noticed they have stools up there as well as video streaming of the show. The stage sits pretty high which makes it easy to see from the main floor; acoustics were good as well. Overall, Terminal 5 was fine - the venue itself isn't bad I just think it's inconvenient to get to and can offer more for the size of the space. I've been to smaller venues that provide more in terms of aesthetics and drinks so that aspect fell a little flat for me. Nevertheless, Terminal 5 put on a good show, and I would't hesitate to return if an artist I follow is playing here.

This was the worst venue I have ever attended in my lifetime. I am a frequent raver/ concert goer and have never had an experience quite like this one. Me and my friend who also raves a lot went to go to Ray Volpe on Feb 7. Keep in mind while I continue this story it was the coldest day in years in NYC. when we arrived at 9pm it was already 1 degree. When we entered coat check was upstairs and the line was all the way to the roof outside. They made us wait in 1 degree weather to check our coats. The line took an hour just to drop off the coat. There was 2 people working coat check and I would say about 300 + people trying to check their coats. The show was amazing no complaints to Ray Volpe. Now this is where the problem really started; after the show. The entire concert venue went to coat check to get their coats back. All of the hallways where modded, you couldn't walk anywhere, we were all stuck standing in place for about a half hour while the employees were screaming at all of us to move with no where to go. They were getting in peoples faces and screaming for their own poor management of the situation. Once they thought they came up with a good plan for the coat check line they told all of us to go back out on the roof at 1am by this point it was negative degrees outside and none of us had coats. The cops ended up getting called and had us all come back inside and form a new line on the opposite side of the venue. There was this one woman who I will attach a photo of below who started screaming at all of us and basically stated that it was our fault for coming, and that we should not be complaining about standing outside and that we did this all to ourselves with what we were wearing, meanwhile nobody who attended this event expected to be standing on the roof without a coat for as long as we did. This woman was incredibly rude and absolutely no compassion for any of the people attending the event that night. Since it was now late at night, some people decided to sit on the floor or sit on benches that they had upstairs in the arena and then were yelled at and nearly kicked out for simply just sitting down since we've been standing on a line at this point for over an hour and a half just trying to get our coats and go home. I also went up to the bar while on this line seeing that there was a Bartender still behind the line and simply wanted a cup of water because I was thirsty and she declined me water. Meanwhile, gave a man in front of me a couple of water and was incredibly rude to me. She then told me that if I wanted water, I could go down the block to a food truck and get myself a bottle of water. I would've gladly walked outside and got myself water if I was able to get my coat which now at this point I have waited now over two hours online just to try to get my coat with hundreds of other people. Many of the other employees were screaming and yelling at people online for seemingly no reason just to show authority and because they were fed up with the fact that they had to wait there for us to retrieve our coats. Meanwhile, they did not come up with a system on a night where they should have been aware of the extreme weather conditions, and should've came up with a better system before even opening that night. I truthfully honestly didn't even feel safe anymore after having multiple employees screaming at us on the top of our lungs for simply just standing online and trying to get our coats and go home. Many of us online do not live in New York City and had a very long travel back home and needed our coats to travel to either go back to our cars or to catch a train. Not a single person at this venue was organized or kind. It seemed to be blamed all on us as customers that we just happen to bring coats. Therefore, we have to suffer and stand outside with no jacket and wait online because we decided to wear coats on a night where the weather conditions were dangerous. Never in my life have I ever experienced anything like this? I kept thinking the entire time that if a fire were to have happened, we all would've been dead because every single hallway and exit upstairs was packed to the brim for over an hour, this was so unsafe, unorganized and unprofessional on behalf of this venue. This was my first time ever going to this venue and I do not think I will ever return to this venue. The experience I had along with hundreds of other people was absolutely horrible. This experience was very anxiety inducing and could've resulted in serious injury. If you plan to go to this venue in the winter time don't. Honestly, I wouldn't go to this venue at all. Shame on you terminal 5. If you're a raver reading this just go to Storehouse. Spending the extra money is so much more worth it.

We did not try any food or drinks because we just came from dinner. We paid extra to enter early and didn't want to leave our spots by the stage. So, I can't comment on service or food, but security entering the facility was thorough with metal detectors, ID checks for alcohol, and bag checks. View and acoustics were great from stage area, but I cannot comment on the rest of the space. I have read that areas of the second and third floors are reserved for VIPs and Friends/Families. We had a nice time and I would return. But, there was no seating, so prepare to stand throught the night. Because we arrived early to be by the stage, we were standing for 4 hours straight.

Pretty tight security at the front door. Three levels of general admission standing room only. Good sound system. Unless you are at the railing on the two upper floors, don't expect to see much of the stage from up there. Plenty of bars for overpriced libations. Men's room was fairly clean at the end of the show I attended.

I went to the Jack Daniel's Art Beats and Lyrics Free Event and BABY!!!!!!!! We had TIME LAST NIGHT!!!! The art was definitely a vibe and definitely brought some Brooklyn ethnic background of today's color world. The drinks we tried were the Jack Honey with lemonade and the cranberry apple with Jack apple. The DJ was playing them tunes for real. The art was a pleasure to see. The bartenders they had was rocking they were amazing

I came here for N.Flying's "Do What U Want" tour earlier last month. The venue was a bit far from public transportation but the walk was about 10 minutes if you walked fast. No outside food and drink were allowed so make sure to fuel up before entering the venue as they only sell beverages (I saw water and alcohol) and no food. They also made us past through a metal detector before we could enter. The view from the floor was pretty good no matter where you stand. There were no loud speakers or TVs (like at concert stadiums) to block your view of the stage. This was the closest I've ever been to a kpop group for a concert! At times the background track overpowered the volume of the microphone but overall it was alright. Whoever worked the lights did a GREAT job as the lights turned on/off and changed colors to the beat of the music which made for an awesome concert experience. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked.

I have been to Terminal 5 several times for various events. Often times it is GA, standing room only, but there are VIP sections. On occasion, you can get seating especially if you arrive early. It all depends on the reason you're there. It's a large venue that can become whatever you want, with multiple bars. If it gets too crowded, the temperature inside can become pretty warm; although, they don't seem to fill to capacity since COVID which is great. The last time I was there I had some tasty bite-sized hors d'oeuvres in the VIP section which helped me hang out longer. I always have a good time here minus the waiting forever outside before getting cleared to go inside. Whether I'm dancing all night or sitting while spectating from above, it's always a memorable night.

Just the usual entertainment venue for many entertainment events, spacious interior, great light system, great sound etc. like most NYC events sociological drinks can be on the pricey side but hey it's Manhattan it's expected. Water is $5.99, bathrooms were actually kept in order by staff and security wasn't too aggressive. In all a successful event by Masterbeat. Just was kinda meh for me though as the DJ is my one of my favorites and not sure why the music wasn't lively. In all great event space.

Went to see mum (Roìsín Murphy) there back in September. The venue is very spacious. It reminds me of a venue we have here in STL the Padgett. The ticket prices were very reasonable. Drink prices I cannot speak about as I was too excited to see the concert than I was worried about adult beverages. If you get a chance to go see one of your favorite acts in NYC hopefully they'll be at Terminal 5!!! Here are some pics. I highly recommend this venue.

Pretty decent venue with atleast 5 bars on the first floor, anywhere you stand is an amazing spot to see the stage. People who worked here were nice. There are 3 floors. Audio wasn't stellar but decent. Overall a great experience for an affordable price

dear Yelpers please stop rating all these venues so low. so much not deserved. so anyway, I came to T5 for the first time for Royal Blood this past Monday. MY SWEET GOODNESS was the place packed. And as soon as the opening band came on (Cleopatrick - have a listen to them plz) the place got packeder. I literally was shoulder to shoulder, hip to butt with people around me in all directions. Guys would push people around to try to move forward, we would elbow them back. Security wouldn't stop them, but we were SO PACKED we couldn't even be pushed around. I made some close friends this day and am hoping I made zero COVIDs because... that.... is where the star gets lost. The sound is just wonderful, the venue has multiple levels where apparently people can BREATHE, there was a joyous mosh pit (people jumping, not pushing so hard) and people flying overhead all concert long. All the stuff you like in concerts. These guys are also playing bigger venues like Camden's amphitheatre, so I appreciate T5 as a smaller place that a well known band would be willing to play. Really the only problems I have: either the floor was overcrowded or security was not built up enough to keep things reasonable, and they shooed us away at the end when we wanted remaining set lists and guitar picks still on stage. STILL ON STAGE and they were cleared off instead of handed out. Not cool. Mandatory deduction. but only one star. come on Yelpers. y'all are gonna come back here anyway so quit your 2 star stuff. (and please drink outside concert venues - every single one everywhere overcharges for alcohol. your own fault)

Ask the Community - Terminal 5

Do the merch vendors accept cards or just cash?

    Both cash or credit

Is there street parking in the area?

    If you get lucky

Where's the best view? I prefer not to be on the floor, I am not big on being in the center of a large crowd.

I will say the balcony if available. You'll have a side view, but the place I not that big. You'll have a good view from anywhere. Hope that helped.

Do they sell drinks during concerts?

Yes - at all of the bars...each floor has a bar

    Is there seating?

For concerts there are some seats along the railing but I think they are very hard to come by and at the last show I was at, most of them had been roped off for people with passes - at least on the second floor. Every show I've been to has been SRO

Do they sell any food here?

    Small snacks

    Is Terminal 5 wheelchair accessible?

    Yes!

Is this venue 18+ or 21+?

It depends on the event. All of the ones I have gone to are 18+. If you are underage you'll just get a different wristband than the ones that are 21+.

It actually lives up to its reputation as one of the best-sounding rooms in the city. The venue is such a vibe. You walk into the ground-floor lounge, which is a great spot to grab a drink and decompress before the show, and then you head up the stairs into the main ballroom. The acoustics were flawless for Rochelle's set; her vocals were crisp, and you could feel the bass through the floor without it being muddy. Even though it's an intimate space, the high ceilings and the mezzanine give it a grander feel than your typical club. Pro Tip: If you want a bit more breathing room but still want a perfect view, the mezzanine is the place to be. But honestly, there isn't a bad "seat" (standing room only) in the house. From any seat you are able to enjoy the whole atmosphere and set. They had one server and one bartender, and I honestly thought at first they would be scrambling with all the drink orders but the way they worked, quickly and still being personable with each guest was impressive. The band playing was great, we stayed a bit more than we should have because of how good they were. Very intimate, chill way to spend time enjoying live music. The only reason I took one star off is the restroom situation. I went down hoping I could use the facilities but the mold smell and other strong smell made me sick and I had to run out. Thank you, Valerie Simpson, and your late husband; Nickolas Ashford, for creating this amazing venue. The guest host for the evening was the incredibly talented Olutayo. Olutayo is joy exemplified. His vocal range, dance moves, entertaining facial expressions...infectious. I fell in love with this man and did not hesitate to tell him so. Beyond his talents was Olu's ability to manage / juggle the night's open-mic entertainers with such grace. From the lyrics of En Vogue and Salt-N-Peppa: "Whatta Man, Whatta Man, What a Mighty Good Man!" All of the entertainers were incredible. What a range of singers, dancers, a poet, a violinist. And the band! The band! The band! Come on!! Outstanding. I was seated next to Darius, one of the several background vocalists that were positioned throughout the lounge. We became fast friends in this space filled with exuberance. Darius was a delight. He was also a big brother to me, making sure no one blocked my view of the performance. Thank you, Darius, that was so kind of you. I had such a wonderful time being in the company of all these amazingly talented people. It was a 6-hour dopamine rush that should not be missed. The dinner that was served was top-notch. I had the Sea Bass. My friend had the Golden Fried Chicken. Both meals were delicious. I had the ginger mocktail with rosemary and blueberries - so yummy I had two. Dessert was key lime pie - suffer we will. Our server; Vickie, was a delight and amazing to observe as she maneuvered around the performers and kept us and everyone around us well served and continually hydrated. Vickie is to be commended for how hard she worked throughout the evening. I made sure our tip reflected our appreciation of her. Put the Sugar Bar on your bucket list when visiting NYC. The day before our dinner, I got an email, text, and telephone call to confirm our reservation. I asked if our seats were assigned to a specific table. I was told the assignments would be available the next morning. We arrived about 45 minutes before our reservation time. We were told that we could NOT go to the bar without paying the $20.00 per person door fee for the show. That night was open mic night. I was so eager to support this business because of its owners. We were also told we could NOT be seated early. We paid the money and waited. The tables in the bar area were reserved. When our reservation time arrived, in lieu of being seated where we could see the show we paid for, we were taken upstairs. I asked where the upstairs stage was located. There was NO stage. Instead, there was a 20 inch television hanging on the adjacent wall. We waited 45 minutes to watch a television upstairs away from the open mic show. I have included a picture from our vantage point. When I asked why we had not been seated in the open seats on the floor with the stage, I was told that some of the performers brought friends and our table was given to those individuals. Our money would not be refunded. I asked repeatedly why we were being moved and the hostess indicated that she did not make any decisions and the seats were going to be given to others. Those folks had not arrived and had not made any reservation. Thus, making a reservation was a waste of time. Then there was the food. I figured no one could mess up hot wings. I was wrong. The lemon pepper wings had no lemon and no pepper. It was just dropped into some butter. I had "buttered" wings. No seasoning except butter. Every member of our group remarked that the food was NOT good. I left 3/4 of the food on the plate. I was SORELY disappointed. Even sports bar have food don't string their customers along, make them wait 45 minutes, and then stash them away in heaven (i.e. upstairs). I could have watched better entertainment on Youtube. I will not be returning and I am telling everyone that I had bragged to about my upcoming birthday outing at the Sugar Bar that they should NEVER visit this place. No one cared that we were utterly disappointed with the trickery regarding the seating.

Nice venue to see a concert as it's easy to get to in Times Square…read more We recently caught GWAR here and it was a blast! They have been around the metal scene for a long time and still put on a crazy fun show. Just be aware if you're in the standing room pit area you will get soaked with all colors of fluid shooting out of character's orifices! There is a large standing room only area on the main floor, an elevated standing area behind that which we score a perfect spot along the railing to view the show, along with elevated seating behind that. Not the biggest venue but good sound and sightlines. Coat check available along with a bar selling overprices drinks.

The 5 stars are honestly for the security team -- they made the line move quickly and efficiently to get inside the building. They were pleasant and gave direction as needed. For a line that wrapped around, it went FAST! Once inside, we were surprised to see that our mezzanine seats were at the same entrance to general admission. It's a small theater but plenty of room for GA ticket holders and a decent area for ticketed seaters. Even if you're seated, you'll have a good view of the stage. Plenty of bars are available and the bathrooms are clean. I have to say other than Times Square outside - I love this venue!
