2 plate choice chicken katsu short ribs
    Aileen A.

I'd gotten food poisoning from 3 Hawaiian places and let's say this place made me have hope in Hawaiian food. I was very hesitant to eat because of food trauma hahah . I'm so glad I came to eat here The food is amazing . The portions are amazing definitely getting your bang for your buck. The flavors are all there. Don't get me started on the macaroni salad HANDS DOWN BEST ONE . I'm a chef and I love this macaroni salad. It's hard for me to not judge a place but this place was spot on ITS WAS MY FIRST TIME HERE BEST BELIEVE NOT MY LAST AND I WILL DEFINITELY BE COMING BACK . The place is a big out dated but to me that's beside the point. The man at the front was friendly and very patient with us. Very helpful after he noticed we wanted chicken katsu and short ribs

Came back on 1/18/26 and food is always satisfying. We love the fried wontons so much we got 2 orders this time. We always order the kalbi plate and wonton min. Definitely one of our favorite places.

This is so sad!!! No more Teri Hawai'i!! Closing the end of April 2026!!! So iconic!!!!

Went to Teri Hawai'i @teriyakihawaii in Gardena today only to find out they'll be closing down at the end of April 2026. It's sad to see such a childhood iconic place close down. Used to go here with friends and family back in the day. #localhawaiianfood #terihawaii #japanesehawaiian #onogrindz #gardena

3.6 is a very accurate rating for this mom and pop institution. I ordered the chicken katsu plate ($11.50) and holy moly was it hefty. The plate comes with a more than generous portion of chicken katsu over a bed of rice with a side of potato/mac salad, and salad salad with thousand island dressing. The chicken katsu is lightly breaded and has a very nice crunchy exterior. However, as mentioned in other reviews, the chicken is a little dry, though not a deal breaker because you can easily use the katsu sauce to remedy the sitch. We also a combo plate ($14.50) with both teriyaki and katsu chicken. The chicken teriyaki fared much better because it was marinated in the teriyaki sauce. The chicken was nice and tender. Again, proportions were incredible. Teriyaki Hawaii is such a wildly good value based on how cheap everything is priced compared to how much food you receive. I think the restaurant is run by an older husband and wife duo, so you know that your business directly impacts the couple. In any case, I bet any of the saucy proteins are significantly more moist than the katsu. I'll let you know if my hypothesis is true when I return to test it.

This is the counter view. It is cluttered and a bit dirty.

I looked up this place and it had over four stars, but I did not see more than 1. The place is dirty and cluttered behind the counter. Food was okay, but I would NOT come back here. Windows, tabletops, and credit machine were dirty. I asked the surly gentleman behind the counter to please clean the table and he did, with a DIRTY RAG. Food came out one dish at a time. I would not recommend this place unless it cleaned up its act.

You want to feel like you're in Hawaii. Not the touristy Hawaii , but the local's type of Hawaii My Hawaiian friends would bring me here for the saimin. Saimin is - for the uninitiated - essentially Hawaiian ramen. The saimin is really good. The broth is fantastic , not salty like some broth. The cha-siu is fantastic. Nice large piece of tasty goodness. I preferred it to the Teri beef saimin Now don't expect fancy, the decor is stark. The patrons a bunch of elderly Hawaiians and locals who frequent the place often. This is the real deal Order at the counter. If you get something other than saimin you can get a free miso soup for Yelp check in. The service is on island time. But that's all part of the ambiance.

Wow! What a hidden gem! I am from LA and i just had to wait for someone so i came here. Portion is crazy big and the chicken teriyaki is on pt! Not crazy about the potato salad. Too dry . Salad is good tho.

This is a review regarding the way they do take-out orders. First of all--everything I ordered was made fresh. No frills Hawaiian spot like all the local spots here, which is kind of comforting to me. The staff is super friendly so I'm not sure what one of the reviews were saying about the grumpy guy. He's actually very nice lol. I ordered: Kalbi + katsu combo 8/10 -katsu could be a little juicier but it's breast so what was I expecting, and it was perfectly crisp on the outside. Kalbi? Get it. Spend the $4 to add that to your combo. It's thicker than most kalbi at other spots. Def worth it Teri burger combo 8/10 -they put their house mac-potato salad in the burger -charbroiled onions Incredible Chicken wontons 8/10 -not soggy in the slightest -juicy on the inside French fries 8/10 -could be seasoned a bit more -the fries are in a chinese takeout container. Innovative. Chic. Stylish. Every spot with fries needs to get on this lol Definitely coming back because I need their wings and shaved ice in my life.

Chicken Katsu (best Katsu ever from my humble opinion)
    Will K.

All of their food are good and 5/5. First time tried the chicken katsu and best katsu I had... Crispy, tender inside and flavorful with their sauces. Definitely enough for two people.

Ambiance: it's a corner spot, mama and papa style family restaurant specialized in Hawaiian food Service: very patient with request and order to make freshly Food & Drink: variety choices and combinations of teriyaki and noodles KALAU PORK - **** soft pork meat, recommend KALBI (BEEF SHORT RIB) - **** flavorful beef meat, recommend Mac Potato Salad - *** light taste Sprite - *** canned drink Price: generous portions and affordable prices, less than $20 per order for a very fulfilling meal

    A small saimin.

Over the past few years I had completely forgotten about this place. So glad I remembered today. One of the last bastions of an honest bowl of saimin.

This spot is a hidden gem! I love the cozy, mom-and-pop feel, and the portions are incredible for the price. You definitely get more than what you pay for--I'll be coming here more instead of the bigger Hawaiian chain spots. Just look at the amount of katsu chicken I got for only $12! On top of that, the staff was super friendly. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and check this place out. Support local businesses! (:

We're already big fans of Aunty Maile's, so we were excited to support this business and drive from South OC here. We love that they expanded the menu to include plate lunches and all the familiar goodies from Aunty Maile's. We came at 3 pm, and it was crowded. There was a band playing - 4 uncles playing familiar, great music and harmonizing so beautifully. An aunty got up to do a beautiful hula dance. It's almost as if we're back on the islands at a family luau. For the first round, we ordered 2 large pizzas (one for to-go), and 4 plate lunches for the 6 of us. A couple new dishes for us here are spicy miso tofu and char siu chicken. For the tofu, I substituted rice and Mac salad for a garden salad. Oh, my goodness! Their salad dressing is amazing! It has a hint of sweetness and tartness and then bam!..the fresh garlic! Yum! Tofu was good, too! Hubby had the char siu chicken with all rice and no Mac salad. It came with a side of hot mustard. Truly onolicious! Only ask for next time is extra hot mustard. For dessert round, we got a dozen malasadas - 6 "simple kine" and 6 "filled," and a shave ice. Everything was great - food, service, and atmosphere. Oh, I forgot to mention that they hosted a pet adoption outside. So, on top of that, they're people with great hearts.

They advertise that the red bean is imported from Korea, and it really is better than most other places. When the taiyaki comes out piping hot with crispy exterior and chewy inside with red bean, it's sooo good. I like their custard filling too. Probably best taiyaki I've had anywhere in southern Cal. I had stopped coming here for a while and when we came back, we noticed that the menu expanded a bit, and now they have some fruit based bingsoo. Recommend trying once. Their rice cakes are good too, very chewy and fresh.

There were no TVs unless you considered the movie screen and movie that played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=HTgLGqT9_BTSQMYyClmJvQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I loved the Snowie Icy Desserts Food Truck and would definitely seek them out again at the next event I attended or worked. Heck... I just might hire them for a private party (951-216-8752)! First and foremost, they sold the far-superior shave ice and not the much-inferior show cone because there is a very distinct difference. Although I only tasted two flavors, I wanted to try them all! One simple request would be to offer azuki beans, coconut, and jackfruit as additional toppings. The price, portion size, and service were perfect. And, if shave ice wasn't your thing as crazy as that sounded, they also sold ice cream and other simple sweet confections. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $5.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 5.0 STARS
