    Tacos fuentes

Our first time trying. I think you can tell a lot about a Mexican restaurant by their chips. They are the first impression after all, and here, we weren't impressed. Though they were warm, they were not fresh or salty enough. The atmosphere felt dark and cramped on the bar side where we were seated, and the music was pretty bad. The menu is huge and offers a lot of unique dishes, so we were still hopeful. I ordered the Tacos Fuentes, which along with three soft tacos of chicken, beans, pico, and guacamole, features a melange of grilled onions, tomatoes and zucchini on the side. It was a lot of food, and I enjoyed it. Hub tried a very spicy shrimp dish - so spicy that he was warned by the waiter and the food runner that it was VERY spicy...so he proceeded with caution. He could see the pepper seeds in the sauce, so after a taste test he removed the shrimp from the sauce to tone down the heat a bit. (That's huge for him, as he usually never admits when something is too hot!) Anyhoo, lunch was completed but unfortunately we walked away unimpressed. One bright spot: Everyone was very friendly.

Great food and serve last night with a packed house, great service/ kind, patient & informative, Love the salsa bar & sidewalk dining. Great prices. They let you customize items... like a side of grilled cactus, Prices are reasonable, Atmosphere is cheesy & starting to show wear in booths. It is clean & they do a lot of take out.., Can't go wrong here!

Super happy we found this place! Food was good. Pretty par for the course not the best ever but not bad at all. The shining star was the margarita. We got a pitcher of the Texas margarita and I'm in love. I don't go to Mexican joints for the food. I go for the margaritas and this one hit the spot!! A beautiful golden color, perfectly mixed and just strong enough. Not overly sweet or sour for that matter. We will be back!

    Margarita, guacamole, and sopapilllas

Decided to stop at Tequilas on 7/5/2022 while on vacation. I regret wholeheartedly that I did. I made a decision from Google reviews and the false assumption that with a name like Tequilas, I'd get a pretty good margarita. While ordering, I requested a salted rim and received a frozen margarita with table salt. I could overlook the table salt if the margarita itself had been palatable. I don't like to waste things and attempted to finish this but decided it wasn't worth it and left my glass half full. I ordered guacamole and sopapillas for my fellow patrons. The guacamole was the most bland guacamole I have ever had in my entire life. There was no seasoning much less salt and pepper and certainly no lime juice. Only by adding the salsa did it improve in the slightest of capacity. The sopapillas we're laughable. The photo on the menu indicates a traditional dessert in the shape of a pillow. What I received instead were tortilla chips covered in cinnamon and sugar with a light smear of a jam and a bit of whipped cream. My bill did come to about $32 (I am including the tip as that I always tip wait staff ( it's not their fault of poor food quality.) I wouldn't be angry and writing this if I had enjoyed ANY part of what we were served.

Super good!! We got cheese dip, salsa, and fajitas! It was all great! The fajitas came with flour or corn tortillas, sour cream, lettuce, guacamole, rice & beans! My pineapple fajita was amazing. Steak, chicken, & shrimp cooked inside a pineapple, along with pineapple chunks threw in with the peppers and onions. All of it was great! Took away one star because our waiter was nowhere to be found a couple of times. And then when we asked for our check and boxes he disappeared for 15-20 minutes and the restaurant was completely dead. Other than that it was great & we will be back!

I personally judge most Mexican restaurants by the freshness and flavor of the margaritas and salsa. The first margarita tasted much like a cheap lemon lime mix. I asked if they had anything with real fruit so they made me a strawberry one. It was better, but still tasted like something from the freezer. The salsa was very ok. Not much flavor or spice. Overall the food is very ok as well. Nothing gross, but nothing great either. For the lunch price it was very good. I really liked the out door seating. Two Booths and several tables outside. Service was ok. They could have been a little more on top of my drinks and salsa. Not bad though.

It's always a treat when great service elevates the whole dining experience, and David absolutely did that. Even on National Margarita Day! We ordered the house margarita, the birria taco, and a side of rice, and everything hit the spot. The margarita was refreshing and well-balanced, the birria was tender and flavorful, and even the rice had that comforting, homemade feel that rounds out a meal perfectly. Between the warm service and the tasty food, El Cielo is definitely a spot I'll return to. A great night from start to finish.

The first time, I was alone, this trip, I was accompanied by my wife. This is important because she has an eye for so many different things than I do, such as the nice, clean, updated decor; the music was unobtrusive and pleasant, it is an open space that "a group of women would like." For me, it looks like a great bar area to watch a game on a relaxed weekend day or night with great drink options and tasty food. I would imagine this is a great happy hour bar, but not a loud kind, just a comfortable space with plenty of options. But, we were here for lunch. I ordered the chicken tinga crispy Mexican flautas: Crispy Mexican-Style flautas stuffed with Tinga chicken, topped with El Cielo sauce and house dressing, served with rice, beans, sour cream and lettuce. It was delicious....again. No wonder it is one of their most popular dishes. The flautas are rolled, fried tortillas with filling, sometimes called a tacquito, although technically a flauta is supposed to be a bit larger than a tacquito. Nevertheless, they were crispy and the accompanying sauces were drizzled over the top. This is not only a great presentation but is tasty enough that no other condiments. The tinga chicken is shredded with a spicy (flavor not heat) tomato, onion, garlic, chipotle pepper sauce. Served with a side of rice, refried beans and shredded lettuce with sour cream. This is a go to dish. My wife ordered the taco salad, as usual, however, not as usual, this one was declared as the best taco salad she has ever been served. The chicken in the salad seemed to be the same tinga chicken as in the flautas - so that is a good reason for this flavor. The salsa bar has about 10 choices including on for children that is mild. We tried five - the regular red salsa, the mango pineapple chunky salsa, the verde tomatilla, the spicy creamy verde and the warm, slightly spicy bean dip that comes with the chips. All were great. If I was picky, the chips are the thicker, more sturdy type (which is fine) and not the thinner, crispy kind (often called "restaurant style." But each has its plusses, so no big deal. Be careful not to over-chip, the salsas are all fresh and very goodl. Our server was a pro - Jonathon. He has been with the restaurant since day 12 after opening and is their most seasoned of the wait staff. This showed in his knowledge of the dishes and attentiveness. Surprisingly, there was not a large crowd at lunch, but a decent crowd. This is now on our regular rotation for a lunch date.

The chips were fresh and hot, and the salsa bar had many choices, but they weren't labeled so must ask or, try them all. I had the fajita burrito combo and it was almost as big as my head. Shredded iceberg lettuce, sour cream and rice on the side. It was a bit heavy on the beans, but it was well-balanced and quite tasty.
