I was in the mood for Mexican food and was recommended this place from the owner. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and was greeted and sat by the bar. Tatiana was my bartender and she was nice. I started with a glass of red wine. For my meal I went with the shrimp fajita bowl and it took a bit to come out. When it did it looked great. Average Mexican at best. No sizzle fajitas-served on the rice with cardboard like tortillas. Burrito was huge but smothered in Mexican BBQ sauce? Tacos were good. During a weekend getaway trip, it was one of those nights where me and my fiancé really wanted Mexican food. We went to a supposedly well rated place, but when we got there, we had to wait so long for someone to come take our order that we had to leave. Second place just was not right for us either. Then tried this place, and well, as they say, third time's a charm. The front doors were open to let the fresh air in, and there were only two other people sitting at the bar. We were quickly greeted and seated by the warm and welcoming host. Everything was so colorful inside from the tables and chairs to the walls and very pretty light fixtures too. Great music playing. We started with chips and delicious salsa. I asked the server if he could make me a margarita that was not too strong or sweet, and he totally nailed it! I always like to ask about favorites on a menu, and so I went with one of his recommendations - the short rib tacos with melted cheese served with a side of consommé dipping sauce. Unbelievable!! My fiancé had the fajita bowl which he really enjoyed. Unlike most chain restaurants, we were not rushed out at all which was a really nice change. When the server brought us the to-go boxes, he also brought over a nice plate of fried tortillas with cinnamon sugar and chocolate sauce. What a perfect ending to the meal! Five stars is not enough. This was a pleasant find. If I had to characterize it, this would be the neighborhood Mexican food truck with a liquor license. Yes, the menu is limited just like a truck's, but the quality and flavors are top notch. I had the pulled pork burrito and it was very tasty. I was also very surprised to see some excellent and lesser known tequila on the shelf. A bunch of margaritas are on the menu and they are well made, however, some tequila is best enjoyed neat. We stayed at the Airbnb upstairs and went down for some drinks and tacos and this place exceeded expectations. They were following Covid protocols and had tables spaced out. My one critique was that there really was no healthy entree option. I was looking for something light, like a Tex-Mex salad, but the only salads they had were side salads and seemingly insufficient for a meal. The waitress took our order and someone else brought out our appetizer and entree all at once. My quesadilla was lukewarm and the chicken was really dry. The guac had an overwhelming amount of lime. We were seated next to a party of 6+ people, and while they were served multiple rounds of drinks, she never even glanced in our direction to ask about refills. When we finally got to order our second round, after already being done eating, she returned with the drinks and the check, saying that we can go upstairs since the restaurant's closing. Probably wouldn't have ordered the second drink if I knew that earlier. I wish I could've given the place a better review since I did like the ambience. The google reviews said they were open from 11 am to 10 pm. We arrived at 3pm and no one was inside. Turns out they opened at 4:30. According to the website, they closed at 10pm so we arrived at 8:30pm and the waitress immediately said they run out of everything. Quite amazing to feel we felt pressured to leave.
