If you are hungry DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE WAITING TO BE SERVED FAST. Our food took more than 45mins and there was only three tables including ours. Once we got out food, it was cold. We didn't not want to say anything to avoid having to wait longer. We were not impressed with the food it was lacking flavor. Had the margarita special which they were ok but I felt that they were too watered down. If you need to go to the restroom is it not in the restaurant you have to go to the back of the store. The only plus side is that you have the grocery store really close by. When we go back to Cancun we will not be eating here. Food is cold and expensive. When you walked 2 miles from your hotel just to see what's around and all of a sudden you get so darn hungry and you're desperate enough to eat anywhere that isn't fast food. My friend and I saw a mall - there's always food at the mall, right? Well, the luxury mall only had a handful of options and Burger King is not my kind of option so, we ended up here. This is attached to a souvenir shop and tequila "factory/museum". My friend was shopping for souvenirs while I was reviewing the menu. A friendly host/server was answering my questions about the menu. They give you a free basket of chips and 3 dips: chipotle, tomatillo and friggin spicy (not the official name). We tried steak tacos, salad and fried bananas with ice cream. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. I was watching soccer but couldn't hear a thing since there was a performer singing and playing the guitar. The service was good. read more

Went here around 6pm and it was strangely empty? We ordered an appetizer, side of rice, three entrees and a beer all for about $30USD, which wasn't a terribly bad deal. Husband wanted tap beer, but all they serve is bottles. Everything tasted sort of so-so, though our son really liked the fried fish tacos. Service was excellent. Good food and great service. Located in a brand new mall still trying to open and still under construction on the second floor. The table side guacamole is great and the chips and salsa filled us up. We came at happy hour so we had 2-1 margaritas. Wife had the lime and I had the guava. Both were served in large glasses, great flavor but not much tequila(like mine strong). Got the Aztec soup made fresh and was very delicious. Creamy with plenty of avocado and tortilla strips. We also ordered the steak tacos and chorizo tacos. Both were very good. Oh my gosh! We walked in and Juan was so welcoming and awesome! I got 2 for 1 margaritas, which were HUGE! We did the all You can eat for $10. I had fruit and the Philly. My food was so amazingly delicious! My boyfriend had the Huevos Rancheros and he loved them. I had a little nibble of it and it was really good. The margaritas were excellent as well. Hidden gem! We went to this mall for the grocery store when we had just arrived and weren't planning on eating here. We had the mixed tacos, fish tacos, cheese quesadillas, and 2 margaritas. It was the tastiest meal we've had in Mexico and the cheapest! All of the mixed tacos were delicious! Octopus and shrimp were cooked perfectly; the steak and chorizo were very flavorful. The fish tacos were great and they used a nice quality fish better than tilapia. I had a mango margarita which was perfect. Not too sweet and a good amount of repasado tequila. Even the damn cheese quesadillas we got for my baby boy were delicious. They tasted like a nicely buttered grilled cheese. It all cost about $35 US. I highly recommend it if you don't care about ambiance (it's in a mall), but love good food. read more

At first I was very skeptical about this place. There were hardly any people in the mall. BUT I was hungry and tired from walking around outside. We set out from our hotel to find a taco bar and we ended up at the mall. Glad we did because we found this gem of a restaurant. The tacos and chicken burritos were very tasty and at a reasonable price. The margaritas were huge! They were 2 for 1 at the price of $9.50 USD. Honestly the best place to get Mexican food on the hotel zone. Affordable and delicious tacos, margaritas and other classics. Way better for a casual meal than any of the hotel restos or the upscale places. Also great service and easy to get to, located in the mall. read more

Our hotel concierge recommended Tequila Grill as family-friendly casual dining. We arrived just before 6 pm on a Saturday night. It is on the second floor of the mall at Plaza Kukulcan. The mall was quite an eclectic and mostly empty mix of luxury shops, a grocery store, a few museums (tequila and aquatic life), this restaurant, and some fountains. Our waiter was extremely personable, patient as we considered the menu, and very kind. The kids were exhausted after a long day, and when my two year old grabbed the top of the tortilla warmer and put it on like a sombrero, the waiter brought us all hats to wear! We had parrilla Mexicana and fajitas supremas. The food was very good and authentic, according to my husband, who lived in Mexico for 10 years. The chips were hot and fresh, we loved the mild green salsa, and we had tons of leftovers, which our waiter packed up for us with some extra tortillas and chips and salsa. The prices were reasonable. For good food in a casual environment, this was great! We would definitely eat here again! read more

I'm not sure why some people had bad experiences here, but my husband and I came numerous times during our two week stay in July. Our food was always hot and fresh, drinks were always (very) strong, and service was incredible. We paid with a credit card in pesos, and let our bank do the price conversion. We were staying at the Ritz Carlton, and instead of paying $75 for brunch, we walked here in the mornings. Chilaquiles were to die for, and for dinner I had molcajete - more expensive at $17, but it was literally all meat. I'd highly recommend this, especially if you're on a budget! There's a breakfast "buffet" - you order anything you want, and it's $9. A+! read more

They had great drinks and the food was tasty. It really was surprisingly good. Tequila Grill was a surprise. We visited the Kulkutan Plaza mall just down from our hotel. We were getting frustrated with the language barrier, exchange rate miscalculations, and locals taking advantage of dumb tourists until we stopped here. We were hungry so we paused in front of Tequila Grill where another American couple was checking out the menu. The host spoke perfect English and kindly invited us in for 2 for 1 margaritas telling us the exact price in USD. You know me, I'm a sucker for anything 2 for 1 and I'm convinced it tastes better that way. We had a seat, sipped an impossibly delectable fishbowl of margie (spoiler, the secret ingredient is a splash of orange juice). As my other reviews will suggest, I also cannot say no to nachos so an order of those quickly happened as well with typical entree selections creeping in mid-nacho. To sum up the experience: food was craveable and margies were next level. The check came noting both MX and USD calculated almost perfect to the penny. English speaking service with a smile earned a generous tip despite the steep $80 price ticket. Tequila Grill is worthy of all Yelp stars, but falls slightly short as a result of wallet rigor mortise. If you wake up in Mexico, write Tequila Grill on a napkin and hand it to your cab driver. read more

don't waste your money. for the breakfast, for $9usd you're better off at denny's grand slam or ihop.. the all you can eat isn't all that.. the regular dishes a la carte is more expensive than my bill at ihop for two. the selection sucks. I just had to get this review on yelp as its on trip advisor and not on yelp. As you saw we came here twice, and ordered the lunch as we missed the buffet, on the second day we decided to order the buffet 8am-11am, just to see if it was worth it .. it clearly was not. at least the staff were nice! but don't take my word for it. read more

We discovered Tequila Grill by accident after rejecting a couple of other choices. Stumbled into this mall that we didn't know was a short walk from the Ritz-Carlton. We were hungry (lunch) after walking miles on the beach. The menu was interesting, 2-for-1 margaritas, and a charming, bright interior decorated in bright colors and day-of-the-dead motif. We ordered the 2-for-1 margaritas and guacamole to start. The margaritas were served in huge painted glasses with a choice of many flavors. They also served some homemade chips and several dips. The guac was made fresh at the table and delish. Besides the many ingredients the lime was a perfect touch. My wife ordered fish tacos and I ordered the suicide taco. While we waited there were two elders playing live music, a bar and soccer on TV turned down. The chips were great; thick and crunchy. When the tacos arrived I tried the suicide taco. You might think that means super-hot or something but it was just very large, wrapped in a tortilla like a burrito but it called a taco. 3 meats, cheese, mushrooms and spices. The meats and cheeses aren't everyday choices. It was the best, authentic, tasty Mexican food ever. My wife had a taste and agreed so we swapped some of our tacos. To tell you how special it was, we bypassed our free, Ritz-Carlton catered lunch to come back the next day and we both ordered suicide tacos and margaritas. The meals are inexpensive, even by USA prices, let alone resort prices. A lot of locals and mall workers were eating here. After our first meal we received a 10% off coupon to come back.
