The ramen was delicious; not super spicy but they have extra spice you can add on! The restaurant itself wasn't too busy, but it was clean and service was quick, prompt and friendly!
Came in at 11pm, only ramen menu was available, was recommended the shoyu ramen and it was delicious. The soup was rich creamy, garlic oil,full of umami flavor. The noodle was thin cut, not as snappy but good. Chashu had a deep smoky flavor. Simply delicious, better than most shoyu ramen because it didn't taste like soy sauce. Ambiance Felt like an old school Japanese restaurant. Service and food came out fast.
Came here with my husband today. He's a big anime and Japanese food lover. This location is very small but clean and the service was great. So was the food! We got chicken wings, ramen, gyu-Don and pork gyoza. Everything was great. Probably the best pork gyoza I've ever had. I got the regular gyudon and my husband the mini and we took some home. It was a lot of food. The bathroom here is very clean and nice, just hot. Def will be back to this location!
Just had a great find, especially landing in late to New York City. On this placement walk from our hotel. Thank God they close late. Service was friendly and awesome throughout the entire time we were there.. very knowledgeable about the food. Food was great. I loved everything about it. Places is very small normal Ramen place decorations filled warm and cozy. Nice little Place will definitely be coming back when in the area.
We went on a Saturday night and were surprised by how empty it was, which is definitely a win in NYC! We started with the chicken karaage, which was amazing. I got the Tan Tan and WOW... the broth was so rich, the meat was delicious, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I asked for spicy flakes and added a couple dashes to the broth - so good. My wife got the spicy miso, and the broth and noodles were equally killer. Overall, such a great spot. Already looking forward to going back!

Great RAMEN!! See my previous reviews. Today I ordered the Mini Gyu -Don as my appetizer--FANTASTIC!!!! Delicious!!! Very Thin ribbons of beef, sweet carmelized onions, red ginger, over soft warm rice...comfort rice is what I felt like I was eating, in terms of that rice, and the deliciousness of the onions and beef. Mmmmm. My Teppen Shoyu Ramen was great, I added bamboo shoots (+$3.50). The broth is very rich and flavorful...it's usually the ramen I get here. The homemade gyoza are delish, too. Had them a while back. You'll have a great meal here. Nice, helpful service too!
This is really good Ramen and the best part is that this joint is opened pretty late. It's a small place and attracts a younger population. Menu is decent, the the choices for non-pork broth are very limited. I ordered the one with a Veggie broth with Chicken on the side, and the Ramen was very flavorful and spicy, which I love.
First time trying Takoyaki, I have been missing out. Its creamy and the octopus is tender inside with a nice light crispy batter outside. I am fan. I was really here for the Ramen, I was feeling under the weather and it was the perfect pick me up. The broth was rich, silky and delicious. I could honestly drink it for breakfast 6 times a week. The noodles were also not overdone which is a sign of good ramen. I enjoy the quaint, coziness of this shop, I will be back.
This is one of the places that has been on my to visit list on Yelp. I went yesterday and I had the Chicken Shoyu. The broth was tasty but I would have liked it to have been hotter. And the flavor was only ok, I really wanted the flavor to be more layered, and I asked for a little spicy but it wasn't. I decided to trek there from Chelsea. It was tasty but I don't know if I'll be back. The service felt more like take out service and the space was cozy.
Cute small ramen shop with no frills. Food came out pretty quickly as well. I enjoyed the takoyaki, but found the calamari a bit too breaded for my preference. The ramens were huge and super filling. They are open pretty late and it's easy to walk in and get a table. They have manga on their shelves as well
Decent ramen in the place for a quick bite! Very speedy service; they are ready to seat you and take your order right away. I came for lunch during my time at the office and I appreciated this speediness! The noodles are pretty thin and the broth is a little salty, and I was a little disappointed that the egg was almost fully cooked ): Wish it was a bit runny. But the green onions were such a plus to everything and they put a lot of it! Very chill/casual place for when you are craving Japanese ramen/curry/etc (:

Wash it down with a nice Sapporo and now we're talking! The bowl is $20 and feels adequate for the price point. Inside is no frills but feels cozy for those cold winter days.

The food was delicious. Great atmosphere and service was friendly. Had the ramen and my picky teen said that it was really good. I had the donburi and I wasn't that hungry but I ended up finishing it all because I couldn't stop. It was that good. read more
Funny enough, I was about to leave a Yelp review and realized I'd already been here... 4 years ago! Glad we came back. The truffle edamame is so good! simple but addictive. We had both the miso and shoyu ramen, and both were delicious. The broth was rich and flavorful without being too salty, the portions were generous, and they came with lots of toppings. My husband and one of my sons had the eel donburi, and they both really liked it. My only small suggestion would be to add a couple of little sides, like pickled radish or carrots, to make it feel a bit more complete. Really good meal all around. Definitely won't wait another four years before coming back! read more
Found myself a few steps below street level tonight like I was entering a secret ramen bunker at Teppen Ramen in Midtown East. Tiny spot, quiet crowd, chopsticks clicking like it's a noodle library. I ordered the Teppen Shio Ramen--their most popular bowl. Salt-based broth with pork and chicken, char-siu pork, egg, mushrooms... basically a bowl that shows up looking like it lifts weights. And somehow it was ready in FIVE minutes. Five. I've waited longer for coffee. First sip of the broth and suddenly all my life problems took a lunch break. Rich, salty, comforting--like a warm hoodie for your soul. The portion? Big enough that I briefly considered canceling dinner tomorrow. Finished strong with mochi ice cream: green tea and peach. Both dangerously good. This isn't the loud "look at me" ramen spot. This is the quiet assassin of ramen joints. Small room, serious noodles, zero nonsense. Highly recommend if you want a bowl that fixes your day without making a big speech about it. read more

Pretty decent ramen. I got the shoyu ramen, which has some pork, and a half an egg. Maybe I'm a noodle snob, but I prefer my noodles to be a bit more chewy and the meat to have more of a char flavor. It was so tender that it fell apart instantly with my chopsticks. The service here is great, since it's a small shop so the waiters can see you right away. Maybe next time, I'll add something with some texture like corn, bamboo shoots, or the mysterious "wood ear" mushrooms. For ~$17 it's reasonable. Most places wouldn't even have meat for under $20. read more
Came on a rainy day and was the perfect warm meal! It was a weekday lunch and it was pretty busy when I came but there were a few tables open still at the back so was seated quickly. Perfect place for a cold winter night. Snagged a table for four in a walk-in, place is very unassuming but clean with efficient service. They were out of a couple things we tried to order (curry ramen and Sapporo beer) but the menu is extensive and has several vegetarian (even a vegan) ramen options that did NOT disappoint. Ramen was hot, fresh and super flavorful. decent portions for around $19 per bowl. Recommend stopping in if in the area and need something filling and tasty! read more

Didn't know what to expect in terms of ramen in this part of town. Came on a Saturday evening and while the streets were quiet, teppen ramen had a nice flow of customers. It didn't feel crowded at any point and definitely not empty. Got the house chicken wings which were promptly served. I thought they looked dry but the inside was infused by some marinade, so be careful not to squirt the juice all over while biting into it. The miso ramen broth was flavorful and the ramen was soft but chewy. Was surprised about the food. Service was quick. read more
While visiting NYC had dinner with my niece & her family. Their Christmas tradition is to have ramen at Teppen Ramen before a visit to the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. We were so happy to tag along. It was so authentic tasting. Best Ramen I've tasted in a long while. Great hot soup for a cold 32 degree weather. The broth was super tasty that I can eat everyday. Hubby & I shared a Shoyu ramen & Pan Fried Pork Gyozas. Service was great. Staff were friendly. We did not wait long for our order place was small but had a nice warm vibe. Next time I visit the Big Apple I will surely stop & have a bowl of deliciousness read more

Cozy ramen place hidden away from the business. I came in a group of 6, and we were seated immediately on a Friday afternoon. The servers were attentive and friendly. We each got a bowl of ramen which came relatively quickly. I got the Teppen Miso Spicy Ramen, and the broth was very flavorful and rich, but not overly heavy by any means. It wasn't too thick or watered down, and clung to the chewy, bouncy, wavy noodles perfectly. I also enjoyed the ramen egg, although I would've preferred a slightly more molten one. The meat wasn't dry but not super out of the ordinary. I always like the touch of corn to add a hint of sweetness to the dish. The Teppen Shoyu Ramen had thin straight noodles that were nicely cooked and a broth that was lighter and not was heavy/rich if that is your preference. Overall, pretty decent ramen and perfect for a cold day, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more

This is incredible! I have not been to this place in over four or five years, so I was thrilled to see the restaurant still in the same spot I remembered. The service, food, and ambiance were just as wonderful as before. How lucky we are to have such an amazing restaurant right in the neighborhood! read more
Times have changed. Midtown East Ramen was once very competitive, but as many stores closed, the quality of ramen has been deteriorating.Limited topping, average broth, and it's a joke to spend more than $20 on this. The store was small and there was no service. I came here purely because it's fast. read more

I am not a huge ramen person; yet, we were hungry and needed something quick before hitting the road so here it goes: AWESOME FOOD, super fresh ingredients & authentic feels. SERVICE was quick & friendly. AMBIENCE was neat and cute. Very chill vibes, casual seating, homey feel. My recommendation? Get their Tan Tan ramen, both versions because they are slightly different from each other but equally spicy and warm to the insides! read more
After a super long day a friend and I were craving some Japanese ramen. Normally I would be at Totto ramen but it was far too late and Teppen popped up after a quick Yelp search. For starters we were walking in long past 11pm but the staff were bright and welcoming and also quite inviting. There wasn't anyone else sitting inside at first but a few came after we were seated. The staff are Japanese. The food is delicious. We were served ice water upon sitting and then our orders were taking promptly after that. We didn't have to wait long at all of the food -- if anything it was surprised at how fast it came but then again we were originally the only ones there. While waiting there was Japanese music playing in the background just loud enough to enjoy but not so obnoxiously loud that you can't hear your own conversation. They also had a nice corner with manga books for a light read while passing time. I had the shoyu ramen and it was a solid bowl of ramen I'd definitely come back to have again regardless of the hour of day. The flavor was on point and the serving portion will leave you full and satisfied. It came with straight noodles and the texture was perfect. Overall a great bowl of ramen that ended my day with a win. I regretfully didn't try any other dishes as it was already pretty late but will definitely be coming back for more. Would recommend if you are especially hit with the late night cravings as they are open well past 12am! read more

Lovely ramen restaurant tucked away in busy midtown east! Teppen had a simple lunch menu with a few different ramen options, in addition to other appetizers and entrees. The ramen was delicious -- both the spicy and the miso had creamy broth that were full of flavor. I would definitely come back for more if I found myself in the area again. The space itself is crowded, as is to be expected in this part of Manhattan. But they do a good job of making the most of the narrow floor plan, and the service didn't miss a beat, even at peak lunch times. read more

Teppen was definitely a surprise, especially since we hadn't planned on coming all the way here for ramen. Unfortunately, we couldn't try the ramen because there weren't any chicken options, but we decided to try a few appetizers instead, and they were delicious! The flavors were on point and made the visit worthwhile. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely come back, even if it's just for the apps. read more

Great place in Midtown East to grab a hot bowl of ramen. The only reason I am giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is because the prices are a bit high (my vegetarian ramen was more expensive than the pork ramen!). Vegetarian ramen is usually a hit or miss but this one had a depth of flavor! I loved the addition of fresh vegetables, they added a nice crunch as well as a unique flavor. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area! PS: I've also gotten takeout from here and it's just as good! read more

I love teppen, it is my favorite ramen spot in the city. Super casual spot that pumps out some of the best bowls of ramen you will ever have. Service is always quick and accommodating. My go to is always the teppen spicy with corn and crispy garlic. I recommend this place to everyone! read more

Very nice spot for good Japanese food on a cold and windy day. All ramen dishes were very good the pork in the shio and shoyu options was really tasty. The soup could've been a little bit hotter. The chicken katsu was served nice and hot and was a decent sized portion. It was a cozy spot. A plus for a clean and roomy bathroom. read more
I came for dinner and was seated quickly. The restaurant seems clean with dim light and casual vibe. The menu is pretty standard for a ramen restaurant. I got the spicy shio ramen. The broth is the star of the show. It's full bodied, thick, with rich flavor of umami, sesame and garlic. The noodles have a good springy texture. The half egg that was served however was cold, unseasoned and hard boiled. The ramen came with 2 small and thin slices of pork which was too little for the price. Service was good and the waitress was quick to refill water when I run low. read more
