Ok, so let me give it to you straight...this place is like a club...like no joke! My fiance, son and I went here for Valentine's Day. We were in the neighborhood and the parking lot was packed, so I thought this place must be good. We get it there...why is there a line? Actually, two lines...one to pay and then one to get seated. The waitresses look like they are suppose to be at a strip club. Do I get a lap dance with my meal or something? Craziness. We finally get seated and our table is cool. A normal buffet. The food was okay, but I mean even some of the customers were danced like they were heading to Lux after wards, and they might have. My fiance comes back from getting his food and he says to me, "yo...babe...you got see this chick...she has to be a stripper." So I get up to see (acting like I was getting some food) and there she is...I could literally see her cheeks and her two friends were just in everyones face. For real??? I couldn't believe it. HORRIBLE. Rude staff, mediocre food and carpet that smells like a dirty diaper-in some areas. I used to come here with my son, because I always got a coupon for them and they were cheap. I mean, I came every weekend for about five months. Today I got there before 3:30pm, it was about 3:27. The rude girl who works the cashier station-you know the one if you've ever been there on the weekend. She is the one who screams "NEXT" as soon as you pay-said it was dinner prices. Even though I showed her their clock on the wall that said 3:28 and my phone that had the same time. She spoke in another language to the man beside her, with a smirk on her face, then the man-who I think is a manager, told me it was dinner prices. Then he told me, "come on, you're going to eat dinner food anyway, right?" Well, no, I wasn't. Their crab is always over done, and sometimes VERY fishy smelling (a bad sign) the calamari like rubber and nothing else of note on the dinner buffet is worth paying for. The only things I liked were the orange chicken and mei fun noodles. Their sushi has also made me violently ill before, so I would stay clear of that. Obviously, they only care about dollars, so I couldn't see them throwing out any food that is spoiled or contaminated. They won't even clean their horrible carpet! Anyway, I will never be back. So, they have lost a customers over about six bucks. Well done Teppanyaki, you are rude to so many people I hope you go out of business. There are so many people in these reviews complaining about contaminated food and rude staff. Do NOT go here, I am glad this happened today. We came here about two years ago and said -- "not coming here again". The place they sat us had a funny smell. I think it was a wet carpet and it smelled bad and trying to eat wasn't that pleasant. So we gave it another chance. First of, ask what the price is during lunch -- because we came here during the weekend thinking it'll be less than $10 for lunch and it was close to our house-- but for two people at lunch time (around 1pm) it was $28 and we just ordered water as our drinks and one hot tea. We even looked around for a price on the walls and didn't see one. Because we were hungry, we just paid. It is a clean place and welcoming. It has a big entrance lobby and an organized process to control those who need to pay and who needs to be seated. Ambience, floors and tables were clean but the chairs need some care because there are a lot of ripped seats. There is also a big boat in the middle of the floor that has the fruits, salads, and cold dishes displayed. They have sushi being made, habachi grill you can get your fried rice or lo mein made, ice cream tubs in a cooler you can scoop yourself and 4 stations of hot food. Even with all that mentioned, I felt I was missing what you usually can get at a buffet place-- esp not for $14+ a person for lunch. The salt and pepper shrimp with the head on was always out and hardly refilled --- the only way I knew they had some was on someone else's plate. I did like their calamari -- it wasn't crispy but it was tasty. They had oysters, but that was also not refilled and the ones I had were kind of slimey (those of you that eat oysters know what I mean). They had crawfish and small light crabs -- but again, they weren't refilled often and it wasn't even packed with people. None of the food really stood out to me and there was still a slight smell on the carpet in the same room we sat in before. I'll give them the cleanliness and the service wasn't bad...but for the second time to come here and still leave with the "not coming back here again" afterthought, must mean something. read more

I do love a good buffet, Lord knows I do.. But, this was a bad experience from the beginning. First of all, I didn't know that I had to wait to be seated (I was with 2 small children who were acting crazy), so I went to find a seat. The waitress looked at us like we were green aliens and we had to wait forever to get her to clean the table and to get us drinks. This was strike #1. Then, we get to to food part, and as soon as I finish my first plate, my stomach starts to bubble. I am feeling the infamous dread of bubble guts in the middle of my meal. I didn't even eat foods that were weird. Needless to say, I didn't make it out of the restaurant with a full and satisfied stomach. But the only good thing, is that the bathrooms were very clean and well stocked. I'll admit, the price is good. Good selection of food, big variety. But that's about the end of the positives. We went as a party of 6, and were seated all the way in the back of what could almost be considered an annex. The main part of the restaurant seemed new and clean, but the back section smelled like dirty diapers or mold or something else equally unattractive. I was a little creeped out by the serve-yourself ice cream case. Everyone was digging away at the rock-hard ice cream with these long scoopers, and who knows where their hands had been. And the chocolate fountain gave me similar heebie-jeebies. Neither one seemed very sanitary to me. The food was rather disappointing, while it was a large selection most of it wasn't particularly good and there were some very weird concoctions. Not weird as in authentic like chicken feet, my husband's family is Chinese so I'm used to those kinds of things. Weird like things that looked like they were created from a random ingredient generator. I was reminded of a now-closed buffet in Laurel that once had sushi with cream cheese and honeydew. Food still pretty good, but not as good as it used to be after several more times of coming here, but quality does depend greatly on time of day. Sushi quality has not gone down. Wait service has slowly improved. They do not accept Valpak coupons that did not come out of the mailer, so if you go to the website and print it out like you're allowed to do, they still won't take it. The least they could do is accept the coupons to offset the gas I use to go here in my ~30 minute commute each way. I have taken all of my out of town guests here, but alas, I will find something closer to home since they are stingy with the coupons. read more

We ended up going here for Christmas Eve dinner as everything else was closed. The selection of different types of food was very good from American to Italian to Asian. Most of the food was very good. The hibachi grill was just OK, they didn't cut up the beef strips and it was dried out and hard. I'd driven by this place a few times thinking I'd give it a shot one day. Not like I'm the biggest fan of buffets but I do like hibachi-style so.... ... I finally got my shot at it today. I was thinking once i took a cruise around the buffet offerings that i was going to get a decent bang for my buck. I was pleasantly surprised at what they served as "prime ribs" [sic]. ... and then it happened. Just about finished with the meal and was just gonna sit and finish my drink and chat with my dining companion when I saw the ROACH on the wall a few feet away. It's OK. Some of the food is OK, but most of it is not good at all. However, most buffet places are like this. I have never been to a buffet place with a lot of good dishes. Went here this past weekend and again, everything was solid. I still just have no idea how this place has a lower rating than Empire a half a mile away. The only thing I can think is maybe some of the reviews giving 1s and 2s may not be legite. If you look at the list of people giving 1s and 2s, they have 1 or 2 reviews at most. This is another typical Chinese buffet that relies on quantity versus quality. On the good side, there is ALOT of food. The hibachi grill does a decent job of preparing your fresh selections. There is a large amount of fresh fruits. The fried foods are pretty good, and everything is refilled pretty quick. On the other hand, the sushi is cold and leftover. Chinese foods like General Tso's chicken has more breading than meat. Some dishes are room temperature and lack seasoning, most notably the yellow fried rice that may have had salt extracted from it if that is even possible. While better than most similar buffets in the area, this place had gone downhill since they first opened. I might come here with a large group as seating is plentiful and they have a separate section for groups. But on my own, the local Chinese takeout is fresher and tastier any day. read more

HORRIBLE!!!!!!! I went with my husband and my 2 daughters for the 3rd time and I am LIVID!! The food was so so but the staff is HORRIBLE..... While my daughter was in the bathroom, a male staff member came in to help clean a dirty stall!!!!!! The bathroom was full of women and girls!!! Then another staff staff member came in spraying air freshener all over my daughter while she was in the stall!!!! Unless you're in Vegas or some fancy casino, it really doesn't get that much better than this. Not everything was great but there's something for everyone. It was definitely better than expected. Saw the main rating on Yelp and thought "wow, maybe my standards are low." I've brought numerous guests to this place and each one has thanked me profusely for the meal. "Nice ambiance" they said. "So many choices!" they gasped "Where do they find all of these 4'11 Asian hostesses" Ok that last one was me, but either way the service is on point for accommodating the rolling masses of chubbies such as myself. The thing that sets this place apart from the rest of the buffets you see near the area is the price. This buffet has pretty much the same offerings of all the others in a ten mile radius, but it is one or two dollars cheaper. There is rarely a line, which makes the wait from payment to seating very minimal. The host/hostess at the front could use a few smiling lessons, but other than that, "check in" is quite fast. The food is typical of buffets in the area. The best food I've had from here would have to be from the grill. Most other buffets that have a teppanyaki often taste bland and the food is more times than not, overcooked. The chefs who run the grill here rarely overcook the meat and add enough sauce to make every bite flavorful and satisfying. One thing I didn't enjoy were the muscles. They looked okay on the outside, but you do get a bit of shell/sand every now any then. One time, I bit into a baby crab that was hiding in the meat of the muscle, which took me for quite the surprise. All in all, you really can't beat this buffet in terms of price, however, they could offer one or two things different every now any then, and they could also work on making non-neutral facial expressions at the front. read more

As far as buffet places to, it was decent-ish... I was there for New Year's day lunch and it was busy. But they still had only 1 grill cook to make the personalized plates. The line was super long and it took a very long time to get your noodles prepared. Plus the guy didn't look helpful or happy to be there let alone answer any questions since there weren't any labels for the items. The rest of the buffet offerings were quite minimal and not special at all. The only saving grace was the ice cream section where they had a variety of flavors and types unlike others which usually just consist of soft serve cones. Have to say love the number of bars they have and food ain't bad it's a step above your Chinese American norm but still not that wow factor to write home about. They also have a Teppanyaki Grill...now if they can pull that off (giving you great choices and great cook on grill) then I must say their pretty good in my book and they hit it out of the park. I love Teppanyaki!! If you go during the lunch hour the pricing is cheaper. The food is good! My favorite is the Habachi grill where you can choose your own raw food and they will cook the food on the grill the way you like it. There is enough tables and seat for loads of people. I love the booths for a more private setting for family or a date. Its a buffet and you know most buffets suck. I think this place goes over the buffet expectations. :-) read more

Have been here before, but probably won't go again, or at least not for a very long time. This place does a have a huge buffet with a lot of variety and even a Mongolian BBQ section (that one section rates 5 stars). But honestly the clientele leaves a lot to be desired (people sticking their noses under the sneeze guards and other things you really don't want to think about related to the food you're gonna eat). The wait staff is pretty friendly and does keep your drinks full. But the place also smells of ... old. That old building moldy/mildewy smell. We discussed it, not knowing if it is the building, the people, the food, or some pretty disgusting combination of all three. Convenient, and not bad for a maybe-once-a-year cheap and decent buffet. My family has visited about once every month or two for the past six months. The place is better than any other buffet I've been too, but it is a buffet. The hibachi grill is great if you're not too particular. They cook everything at the same time wihtout much space between the next customers pile of ingredients. Keep in mind that seafood doesn't need to take as long as chicken or steak. My husband, allergic to seafood, ate steak fried rice, but had an allergic reaction. He later revealed he found a shrimp tail in his food, but kept eating anyway figuring he wouldn't have a reaction. The only other issues is that you have to go to the grill when the right cook is grilling. There is one cook there who burns up everything. It doesn't have the charred look, but it has the charred taste. Otherwise, the grill is great option with all sorts of ingredients...perfect if you're hesitant to dive into the risky buffet tables. From the buffet...the most consistent foods...fried food table (fried fish tastes the best), spring rolls, white rice, salmon when they bring out a fresh batch, string beans, fresh batch of general tso and peppered chicken, fried pork skewers, fruit, salad and ice cream. Overall, a huuuuge selection of foods so your first visit can be kinda fun. Quality is not bad...some foods lovely..others soso. The service...it is so-so. Sometimes we've gone there and they're polite...other times we've gone there, they barely spoke offering no thank yous, well wishes or even a smile...but they stared with stoic faces. Strange. It is best to go when it opens of course. We did dinner hours once...and never will again..too many people and seating becomes too far and inconvenient to the buffet...this can become an issue with little kids. Cleanliness. Depends on the time you go. Again, go during the earlier hours. Bathroom decent except during our dinner moment. Utencils can be questionable at times so bring your own. Plates usually appear clean. For refills, they vary. The waitress may have the pitch in hand and will refill your cup in front of you. Others will take your cup away and return with the cup refilled. In the latter case, ask for them to bring the pitcher to the table. Keep a look out for the typical terrible buffet habits of others...kids roaming around touching food, the guy who eats from the dishes, dishes with handles in the food..etc. Again, its best to get the fried foods or just stick with the Hibachi grill with hopes that the right cook is grilling. read more

Hooray! I was last here and was put off by the high noise/music level. I decided to give the place another try because I have had many previous enjoyable eating experiences. We'll, the time we arrived about 14:00, well after the lunch crowd. The greeter offered "Table Seating" instead of "Booth Seating" and we accepted table seating. It was a good choice: the table seating was located in a dining room north of the main area, and in that dining room the sound was off !. The food was typically good. I found a number of enjoyable sushi items that were NOT covered in spicy mayonnaise, and I enjoyed them. My wife found the "Fried Whiting Filets" which were fresh and hot. Overall, an enjoyable experience. To make a long story short - it was an enjoyable eating experience, with quiet and comfortable circumstances.... I came here for lunch and I believe it was $7.50 which is pretty good considering it's all you can eat, it's really clean and nicely decorated inside. We were seated by a gentlemen on his cell phone who just directed us toward a booth and tossed down our silverware, and walked off, I went to get high chairs for my children on my own. The waitresses don't smile and they're definitely not friendly but it's a buffet, the idea is to get you in and out, so I get it. The buffet is displayed very nicely and the food is kept fresh and hot, even the sushi section is nice, and the selection of rolls are interesting, mostly crab and cream cheese based. The sushi/sashimi options are few. I like the fruit and dessert display, they have whole cakes out and a lot of fresh cut fruit and jello, there's also an ice cream section. Overall it's worth a try, nothing too special, but it's fast and cheap and it has all the basics you'd expect from a Chinese buffet. I did not try the teppanyaki but it looked really nice. It was a decent buffet to go to! I went on a weekday with family and it was $10 something for a person. The only thing they didn't have was vanilla ice cream that I noticed. For a buffet, they had a decent selection for normal food choices. It was clean and the people were friendly! If you're just looking for some quick grub, I don't see why not. You're going to buffet for the quantity of food, not quality of food (not trying to argue, just stating the truth). So, don't rate the stars according to that. read more

To all you moms out there who don't feel like cooking tonight and want a little variety, because after all - buffets have variety, don't do it. Rip open that bag of Perdue chicken strips or go to McDonald's. Yes, you heard me right. TG is expensive and not very good. Our server was polite and prompt - dirty dishes were promptly removed and drink refills, ongoing. Unfortunately an unpleasant odor emanated from within the seating area, food quality was poor and cost, high. The quantity was there - foods were being replenished, but the quality lacking. A stir fry of undone fresh green beans, nicely stir fried bok choy, meatless crabs, weirdly stuffed lobster legs, greasy bbq chicken slices, poor quality gyoza, tasty chicken wings, decent fries, fishy tasting broccoli, crabless sweet cream cheesy ragoon, prime rib tasting similar to pot roast, steamed shrimp with veins intact, dry cake similar to an opened package of Ding Dongs, fresh fruit, grill station with meats/shrimp & veggies, good - but salty. read more

I like the buffet .. they have lots of food HOWEVER if you are a fan of raw oysters, crab legs or crabs.. you might find yourself playing the hunger games to get them.. there are two people that bring the food out.. from my judgement a hispanic girl and an asian lady.. well the asian lady likes to walk around with her spoon and will not bring food out until theres literally NO food .. so they better eat the old food before you can get fresh one... it sucks! read more

My First and Last time at Teppanyaki Grill. My family took me there for my birthday after bowling. We walked in and in error went straight to the sign "Wait here to be Seated". The young lady informed us we had to pay first. We shifted to another line - where the young lady looked swamped. She was handling the guest in front of me and other guest coming in to be seated. Once we got to the counter - there was no greeting like "Welcome to Tepp...". I noticed prices were NOT listed for customers dining in. The young lady could have been making up the prices. I had to ask twice about prices for children. The only receipt I received was my credit card receipt, I didn't receive a receipt itemizing what I paid for. We were then taking by another young lady to the back - again no pleasant greeting. We got to the back and were seated. Another young lady came and requested our drink choices - I still don't know her name. Once when watching a Kitchen Nightmare episode - Chef Ramsey said "if the guest can cook better than you - then why should they come to your restaurant". I felt the same way about Teppanyaki. The food deserved a 2. The fried chicken and shrimp was pink on the inside, the salmon was horrible, forget the mac n cheese, the pizza was burnt, the desert areas was a mess. The one layer cakes looked like my 6 year old baked it. The staff was not very cordial. I have to say the young lady was very swift in clearing our plates and asking about refills. I did enjoy the fried donuts.. The fortune cookies giving at the end were stale. If you have a good palet for food this is not the establishment. If my family opened a restaurant we would back out the place compared to T. Grill food. It would have been better to take the $100 spent and go to Chic Fil A - at least we know the food would be fresh, great customer service and a clean environment.
