Reading reviews made me wonder if I went to the same dealer as other people! I never heard of Tenvoorde Ford before our purchase since we are relatively new to Minnesota until a Google search for "Ford near me". Glad I did not see these ratings since they would have been misleading. We made an appointment with Dan Larsen at Tenvoorde and it was a busy day, but Dan was on time and took his time with us. We needed a new truck at a cost we could afford. Dan took the time to listen to what we wanted and showed trucks in our price range. We ended up loving a 2020 F-150 XLT Sport that was a courtesy vehicle and bought it. It was a great experience all around. We also got a pull tab after that purchase because we were now on Tenvoorde's mailing list. Not sure why someone would think they are automatically going to win the big prize and without some sales pitch. However, we went through the motions and had a great visit with Travis in sales while waiting to see what our pull tab would produce. After buying the truck, we purchased a bed liner at Tenvoorde. The gentleman in parts & service that day helped us pop it in while we were there. Who does that? It was great. So, our interactions with Tenvoorde and the staff there was great. And we visited one other Ford dealer closer to us and Tenvoorde beat their price including the amount we got on our trade in. We are completely satisfied customers and will continue to do business with Tenvoorde! read more

I have a less than 1 year old battery from Ford Motor. It has a date stamp (10/25) and says it has a 36 month warranty. It came with the vehicle I bought from a different ford dealer. I have dealt with Tenvoorde in the past and will not go near there unless I have to. They would not warranty the battery because I didn't have a receipt. What dealer gives you a receipt for the battery when you buy it? I have worked retail and I know what these service managers go through, so I try to be understanding and reasonable. Other dealers in the area have been pretty good in my opinion. They had an opportunity on a simple thing to hit it out of the park. A swing and miss. We bought a pickup in Sept. 2025, within a few days the service engine light came on. Returned to the service department three different times within 2 weeks to have the service engine light repaired and never did fix it now we sit at April after not being able to drive the truck all winter because of the service engine light in 240 not helping us or standing behind their product now we're at a $7,000 repair in the fuel rail system and the garbage service contract they sold us is no good for this they won't return our calls it sounds to me like they sold a lemon and they know it and they didn't fix the problem I would never trust them never believe them and never shop there. read more

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. Don't be fooled! I bought a used F150 in 2019 from this dealership only because of the lifetime powertrain warranty. When I bought the vehicle I was told I could have service done anywhere as long as I kept my records and called the warranty center to document the service. Well, now I have a transmission problem and they are refusing to cover because I didn't have service done there. The reason I stopped going there for service in the first place is that all of the maintenance staff are grumps and they cost significantly more than the mom and pop shops. For the most part had a good buying experience. The sales manager seemed a little uptight but he apologized after I told the salesman I was working with he had been quite abrupt to end our extremely short negations for my trade in. Ended up agreeing and buying a new vehicle. James was my salesman and he was pleasant to work with, will probably be back in the future. Edit. Out of curiosity I wanted to see what they'd post my trade in for. On their website it's sitting at 30,999. I paid 29k for it 2 years ago down in Iowa from another dealership with 40k less miles on it. So them offering me 19k originally for my truck is now laughable at best. Also telling me you'll be lucky to get 25k and that "at auction similar trucks are 17k. A lot of work had been done to the truck as well as physical add ons. I suppose they don't call them "Stealerships" for no reason. I still enjoyed working with James. However the undervaluing of someone's vehicle and constant lies by the sales manager need to be addressed. Because word of mouth does unfortunately spread. This dealership is absolutely terrible. They will do anything to sell you a vehicle but when it comes to service and follow up they will screw you until they've stolen the value of a whole second vehicle from you. I had asked the service dept. to turn off a warning for 'trailer battery not connected' on my F150 which is a super common issue based on google searches. They took my truck in at 8 am for the appointment and did no work, I didn't receive a call, voicemail or text and then after the service department closed I had to get my truck from the sales manager. They had locked my truck in their shop and wouldn't release it until I paid $120 for the ZERO work they did! I called the service manager Craig to complain and left a frustrated voicemail which he then hung up on so I couldn't even leave a voicemail. No call back or apology. Craig the service manager should be fired in my opinion. I would warn every potential customer to Tenvoorde Ford to avoid this place and go to any other dealership in the state of Minnesota. They are lairs! We went in for their sale advertise SCAM! That you won 2 cars or $100,000. And we WON $5. Target gift card. They claimed it was $83,000.00 when new. The truck we bought, I thought we got a good deal. My husband said from beginning it not worth the price we paid! He was right! And when we bought it was promising best new tires they got. And we got the cheapest. Till we took it home and in glove box the original. price was there. But it says it was 62,000.00. So, we got ripped off! Then top it off. I wanted to pay cash. But they put it through a loan. When I received the first payment. I was on the phone with the bank for loan and asked her a question, what its customer care means. She said bump to bumper. charging an extra almost $9000. And ask what the other one was she said same. Then cost me and extra $100. for damn loan. That was $4000. we did agree on this, but after, taking it home. I called and only one guy in finance was telling me truth. Overall very poor experience and I ended up not buying a vehicle from them. I started looking weeks ago and very specifically stated I do not want a pushy salesperson, I know exactly what I want, just help me find it. That was not the case and found myself barraged with emails, texts and phone calls, very pushy, trying to get me to drive an hour 1 way to look at trucks and sell me vehicles I had expressly told them i was not interested in. I had stated to them several times what I wanted and that i was not willing to come down until they had what i wanted on the lot. I had asked specific questions about a couple vehicles and they wouldn't even answer me, just tried to convince me to come waste half a day to talk with salesmen on site. They had absolutely zero interest in making satisfied customer, were extremely pushy, overbearing with the sales approach, and seemed much more concerned with making a commissions check than helping a customer find what they wanted and needed. read more

He also heard a ticking noise, and suggested I take it to where I bought the car , to have them check it out. New car and all. Chase was right the ticking sound was the Purge valve. This place is a joke and the worst customer experience ever. Not just with a dealership. Worst ever. First off the sales guy, Zach Stumpf, came out right away with a sexist comment about women. That's how he started off his sale. They knew NOTHING about the Tesla car we wanted to buy (not educated on it at ALL) and had it way overpriced. We know everything about Tesla's. When we were thinking whether or not to get it, he went into this mood instantly like we were wasting his time. We had gone back about a week later to see if we could talk them down to the correct price. This time we worked with Lilly. She was nice until a poor comment she made later on, in the situation. She said "you didn't hear this from me, but we close at 8 and the charger stays on." It sounded like an opening for crime. We were able to talk them down to a proper price this time. The previous owner did not include the charger with the car. Before the papers were signed, they said they would get the charger back. Well they didn't. Not following through on what they had said, is the equivalent of selling a car without a gas tank. You need the charger to make the car go. We had talked to the sales manager, Kris, since they did not follow through yet. On the phone, we had confirmed and verified that they would be getting a TESLA brand charger. He said yes and sounded like he was even looking on the TESLA website while on the phone talking to him. Went to go pick up the charger and they had bought a generic charger which was absolutely completely useless.  Lied and cheap. 1 star is too much for them. They deserve absolute 0 stars. Sent out misleading false advertisement of winning a big prize and come to find out it was 25 bucks worth of coupons. Not even an actual gift card. We went into Tenvoorde knowing what we were looking for, and the price we wanted to pay. We worked with Rich, who greeted us right away and let us drive the car we were interested in. When he asked for a price, we gave it to him. He checked with the manager and got back to us with their best deal. It was below what we were looking for. I normally can't stand dealing with automotive dealers and the games they play, but Tenvoorde was very straight-forward with what the cost would be with license, tax, tabs. When we picked the car up a day later, one of the key fobs and the remote start wasn't working. Tenvoorde said that we could bring the car back in and they would get the other fob working. While the remote hasn't yet been resolved, I hope that it, too, will be resolved. Time will tell. Once everything is taken care of, I'll be giving them five stars. We were very pleased with the service we received, the way we were treated, and the car and its price. There was no hassle and no games. Unlike some dealers in town, I like the fact that there's a price in every window, and you know the mileage and age of each car. read more

After deciding to buy a new Ford truck as a retirement gift to myself, I went to Tenvoorde Ford. Right away they made me feel like I was bothering them. I asked to test drive a truck and they assigned a salesman to ride along, which was to be expected, except it was obvious the salesman had better things to do. Since I really didn't get a chance to learn much about the new Ford pickups, I didn't buy one. I don't know why I was treated coldly. Perhaps because I said I wouldn't need a loan, or because I dress very casual? Maybe I just looked like some old guy wasting their time. Anyway, a few days later a saleswoman called and basically said that next time I go there, make an appointment first. This was in 2018 before the pandemic required the need for appointments. A few weeks later I flew to Dallas and paid cash for an older classic Ford pickup in mint condition that I had found online, and I drove it back to MN. Shortly after that I got another call from Tenvoorde Ford, asking me if I had bought a truck yet. I said, "Yes", and the salesman hung up on me without even a "goodbye". I've gone there two times now. Once to trade in an F-150 to buy a new one. After the sales associate learned that my trade-in F-150 was a 2x4 the sales rep literally walked away and chuckled saying no thanks. I didn't hear anything back after that and no one else came to help me. Needless to say, I left and another dealership got my service and money. The second time was when I was, again, in the market for a new F-150 ($30k to spend) and when I asked what I would get for my current truck, considering the trade in value, they tole me to bring it in and get it appraised. My wife and two kids brought in the truck to do just that while I was working. The salesmen then proceeded to tell my wife that we needed a truck picked out and a purchase agreement before they will even look at the truck. This is after they told us to come in! They turned my wife away!!! I had planned on buying a truck that evening! I will NEVER NEVER NEVER go to them again. Tenvoorde has lost over $55,000 from me because of this insane behaviour and I am not the only one who has gone elsewhere! Buyer Beware! I bought a 2021 Explorer courtesy vehicle with around 2k miles on it in January 2021. I made an appointment ahead of time to go to Tenvoorde and look at two 2021 courtesy Explorers. I drove from Minneapolis to St. Cloud on a Saturday morning and when I arrived was introduced to salesman, Travis. I told him I was there to look at the two Explorers, with the black one being my first choice. He disappears for a while and comes back and says he can't find the black Explorer but the grey one is outside. I go out to look at the grey Explorer. I was surprised to find it extremely dirty inside and out. Driven on a gravel road and not washed and mud on door sills and carpet. I told them ahead of time I was coming to specifically look at the two courtesy Explorers and when I get there they can't find one and the other one they didn't even bother cleaning up. I guess they weren't really interested in selling me an Explorer. I bought the grey Explorer as they never did find the black one. Salesman brings me out to the car after all the paperwork was done and I'm ready to leave. I look at it and it looks like they ran it through the carwash and that was it. Still dirty and interior dirty as well. At this point I just wanted to leave. So, I ask the salesman for the second key fob and he says he can't find it and will mail it to me. Two weeks pass and I don't hear a thing from them about my key fob. I contact the salesman and he says they can't find it and that I can "stop by" and they will make me a new one. Remember, I live 65 miles away and so I tell him I won't be coming to St. Cloud to get a second key and that I want to go to a dealership near me. He says he'll have his sales manager call me. I never received a call. So, I call the sales manager and he agrees that I can go to a local dealer by me and they will reimburse me for the expense. Meanwhile I get the license tabs and the registration says "Vehicle Use Type: Commercial," which is wrong. It should say "Personal." So, I call the salesman on that and he tells me it's not their fault and that I need to go to the DMV to fix it. Really? I'm the customer! I don't care who's fault it is, I just bought a new vehicle from them and they should take care of any issues. Finally, I talk to the title clerk and she agrees to look into it after giving me attitude and acting like I was putting her out. Due to all these issues, I emailed the general manager about my experience at Tenvoorde and never got a response back from him. Throughout all these issues, the only person from Tenvoorde to ever call or email me back was the title clerk. If I hadn't ever reached out I would still be without a second key fob and the registration would still be wrong. To date, no-one has ever bothered to follow up with me to make sure everything was taken care of. Extremely poor customer service. Once the sale is done, you'll never hear from them. I've bought five new Fords and many late model used Fords in my lifetime from multiple dealerships and have never had an issue or been treated poorly, until now. DON'T GO TO THEM. They try to nickel and dime people. Pretty sure they broke my starter as it was brand new when I brought it to them. It also took them days to get to the vehicle. They claim it leaks oil, which it doesn't, and that the check engine light was on, when it wasn't when I brought it in to them. They couldn't even be bothered with giving the vehicle back in the same condition as they recieved it. Even as little as hooking the battery back up. Seldom do I go to a dealer but we seen a pre-certified full warranty 2014 Ford Focus with only 13,000 mi. so we stopped here. We have friends who recommended them as well. The salesman Jon Smid was very helpful and we took it for a drive. Right away we noticed the car shimming down the road. They said they didnt know the exact issue but replaced both back tires with new ones. (Very expensive tires -so we later found out) That seemed to work-temporarily. We live out of state but are from MN. After our purchase we went thru several people to get the deal done and amazed they even have someone show you all the details of the car and how it all works! Great Customer service! Our very first tire rotation here, they said we had a bad rear tire? We replaced it with a new one, as it turned out it was defective. Our 2nd rotation, once again said we now have "cupping" on the other back tire and the new tire we just replaced was already showing "cupping" ?? Couldnt rotate. We replaced all the tires. Had it aligned at a private shop. They suggested putting sandbags in the trunk, as they said the back tires dont all sit flat on the pavement?! What?!. I had conversations with Tenvoorde thru all of this.. $700 into this and 2 weeks later we decide to align them again at a dealer near us to see if everything was ok? Nope, they said the other alignment shop didnt align all 4 tires like they said they did! I asked if they aligned it would that fix it? & he said temporarily. It would need new rear upper arm controls. (Apparently an issue Ford knows about but wont acknowledge it & wont cover it!!) I called Tim knutson at Tenvoorde and Barry in service and explained what we've been through. Barry called back and said they would cover half the repair of $500. to fix it. We agreed. He even spoke to the service guy here, Joe Sullivan at Mckie for us. The second we had it fixed, it has driven "straight" down the road and the terrible "road noise" Gone! Its like driving a totally different car! Can't Thank Tenvoorde ford enough for standing behind their words!! ALWAYS kind and helpful!! Drove over 4hrs one way to get there on a price Gene (sales manager ) quoted me (Out the door price including some free accessories, tax ,title and license) on the phone after lengthy phone conversations for a new 2019 Ford F150 . When I arrived there they had none of the accessories that were to be thrown in , so they said they would knock off the price . After waiting 2 hours to get the adjusted price they came out with a price several hundred dollars over what they have advertised on their website and told me I was getting a deal !!! I walked out on them and they followed me into the parking lot telling me the deal I'm getting. Called Ford customer service 800 number , been over a week and ford customer service tells me Tenvoorde will not even respond back to them ! BEWARE !!!! read more

While vacationing in St. Cloud my 2014 Focus started to have transmission problems. I made an appointment for first thing Monday morning. My advisor was Barry. He kept me up to date on the status of my car and made sure the techs knew that I was from out of town (St. Louis, Mo) and needed to get back home ASAP. My car was in the shop a little over 24 hours and the problem was fixed and I was able to get back home. After agreeing to a deal on an F150, they took our trade-ins and we took the new truck. The final paperwork, on the done deal, was to be completed the following morning, since it was 9:30 at night, . The following morning the dealership called and demanded an additional 4k cash down payment to "make the deal work" stating Ford credit required more down...they never checked credit, so how could FMC require more money down? Arriving at the dealership the sales manager was rude and abrasive, saying, " if you don't like it, have your lawyer call mine" Its sad to see "the oldest Ford Dealership" upholding the standards that has given all car dealerships such a bad name. My husband and I bought a used truck from here. My biggest concern which I stressed to the salesman Rob is that this vehicle needed to be safe enough for my child. He told us it was very sound, good engine, it would last, and passed a safety inspection. A few things were broken when we bought it, and we used some extra cash we had to fix them, about $900 in repairs. We had the truck for not even two weeks, and a fire broke out WITH MY CHILD INSIDE. An electrical short occurred from a remote starter put in by the previous owner, which caused the power locks to short as well, and I couldn't open the door to get my child out of the back. We were able to get her out safely thru the drivers side door. They never told us about the remote starter and we had no idea it ever existed!!! Since the fire, my six year old has struggled with PTSD. She wakes up screaming and crying that she doesn't feel safe, has panic attacks so severe we've taken her to the ER, won't even get in our primary vehicle without crying. I contacted the dealership because after the fire we were up to $1,500 in repairs for the truck. We were willing to purchase a much more expensive vehicle from them worth about $15,000 if they would credit me for what I spent on the truck plus repairs given the extreme circumstances. They were only willing to offer me part of what we paid for the truck off ($1,500), when in two weeks we were $3,000 in the hole. Not to mention, the entire staffs customer service was laughable. Nobody seemed to give a damn about us as soon as they took our money. From the rude woman working the front desk, to the sales manager being an absolute asshole to me, to every single person who dodged our calls and emails. I would never recommended this dealership to anyone. We ended up taking our $15,000 to a Luther dealership and have been extremely happy with the customer service we've received! This dealership is a joke. They endangered my child and they simply don't care. read more

I purchased a Focus 2 years ago and had a good sales experience, then went back when I wanted to upgrade to a Fusion. Salesman Dave was just plain cool. Laughed easily, told me what I wanted to know, and treated me like a truly "valued" customer. No real experience with the service department yet except when I stopped because I saw wires hanging from under the care - turned out I snagged some earbuds Free oil changes so far. It was nice to look at inventory on-line before I came in. Dave had the car warmed up and ready for a test drive. BTW Fusion was a good choice - easy to park in the Cities, good mileage, comfortable ride, big trunk. read more

I have been told that this dealership is great. they can get you in a car fast even with bad credit. Hahahaha...yeah okay. I have been waiting for over a week to hear anything after they pulled my credit TWICE and submitted the paperwork they wanted. all I keep being told is we need time. meanwhile, I have a ford that they recommend I don't drive and they refuse to repair with recalls and extended service work because they claim it has a salvage title on, but yet my paperwork and the Ford dealership I bought it from and Carfax, says it's fine and does not have a salvage title. I think Tenvoorde 1. just wants to make me eat the cost of the repairs even though they are recalls and covered under warranty. and 2. wants to put me in a car I don't want ( the sales guy is pushing hard for me to get a brand new 2020 car or SUV but that is not what i want. he seems to be ignoring everything I am saying.) and in another upside-down loan. I highly recommend going somewhere else unless you have weeks on end to sit around waiting for someone there to do their job. read more

Not long after purchasing the car I unfortunately had a deer hit with my car. I went to a very reputable auto body man who I trust implicitly and he called me in several days after inspecting and starting the work on my car and told me that my drivers door, which had not been damaged in the deer hit, had very obviously been very poorly put back together after some severe incident which was never revealed to me. The door was mostly "mud" and the patch job he said was extremely extremely poor and appears to be a slapped together job that is done to push cars out for auction. There was already rust forming on the door and he said it would be in terrible shape in no time, so I had to purchase a brand new car door for $800 shortly after purchasing this car. I contacted the salesman who felt bad but didn't offer any solutions and when I wrote letters to the top two people in the company, Mike Tenvoorde & David Rodriguez, they never even bothered to respond to me.
