From the "Houston Oilers" to the "Tennessee Oilers" to now the "Mighty Mighty Titans". The "Tennessee Titans" is that underdog team the NFL seems to downplay all the time, but be in complete shock when they actually have a great season. I've been around for most of the highs and lows of the "Tennessee Titans" and now let me tell you why I won't be leaving the fandom anytime soon.. "Tennessee Titans" Location - Nashville, TN Franchise History - Houston Oilers (1960-1996) Tennessee Oilers (1997-1998) Tennessee Titans (1999-Present) Tennessee Titans: Powder Blue, Scarlet Red, and White made up the unique colors of the "Houston Oilers/Titans" and is what drew me in to the team when I was a youngster. Being pretty much the only team in the AFL/NFL with such a color way and the list of legends they have, it was a no brainier for me even being young that this was the team for me. This franchise since it's debut in 1960, came in taking names and racking up legendary players from Earl Campbell, Warren Moon, and later on the late Steve Mcnair. Being the team to win the first two championships (1960, 1961) for the AFL, the Oilers would see a lot of success as a team before their merger into the NFL and being a part of the AFC Central division until moving to the AFC South division in 2002. Back in 1998 owner Bud Adams moved the "Oilers" to Tennessee following a disagreement with the city of Houston and the NFL. Being that Tennessee isn't known for roughnecks and oil rigs, they decided to play on Tennessee having one of the largest Greek populations in the U.S. and with a slight change to the color scheme (Navy Blue, Powder Blue, Scarlet Red, Silver and White) we have the established 1999 "Tennessee Titans" some love, and others like to laugh at, but for me....Titan Up!! Overall: I'm tried and true about the sports teams I choose to support. I been supporting this team from that devastating loss in the Super Bowl XXXIV to last year getting outplayed in the last quarter of the AFC Championship game by the Kansas City Chiefs when we were basically winning the whole game until they figured us out. I've sat through a lot of 2-14 seasons to now we're doing much better. The best part about it, is knowing I'm not the only "Titans" fan in California anymore thanks to the "CTF" (California Titans Fans) and their club president for inviting me to joining the group. Just know, The Titans are Here and when they do win a Superbowl, I'll be here. Titan Up!!

Code Blue games are great, but you need to be downtown the night before to get into the full events and fun. On the otherside, the whole month of Pink is absolutely stupid. This is football. We all love the breasts, save the tah tahs, but pink gloves, shoes, etc is way over blown.

Stadium is getting old, but still a fun classic feel. The food options pretty well suck, but it's all good with a loud Titan Up!

They are a good team and I like going to games at their stadium. But, they beat my Patriots and made me sad which knocks them down a star.

Since that time, the team ranks fifth in the league in all-time points percentage (regular season). After getting off to a slow start that included five consecutive seasons of zero playoff appearances, Nashville now routinely qualifies for the playoffs. The team won its first conference championship (Western Conference) in 2017 and advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals. All in all, not bad. The 2017 Finals pitted the Predators against the well-established Pittsburgh Penguins and NHL superstar Sidney Crosby. The Preds fared relatively well against the Pens, extending the series to six games which, unfortunately, ended on a 2-0 home loss inside Bridgestone Arena. That season (2016-17), Nashville was led by team captain Mike Fisher and guys like Filip Forsberg, Viktor Arvidsson, Ryan Johansen, and Roman Josi. Forsberg, Johansen, and Rosi still play for Nashville today and all three rank among the franchise's all-time leaders in points, goals, and assists. The all-time leader in all three categories is David Legwand. Legwand was drafted by the Predators in 1998 (2nd overall pick) and played 15 seasons for Nashville. The 2017 Predators were coached by current Washington Capitals head coach Peter Laviolette. Laviolette led the Carolina Hurricanes to the 2006 Stanley Cup championship and also led the Philadelphia Flyers to the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals. He's one of only four coaches to lead three different NHL teams to the Finals. Nashville's appearance in the 2017 Finals was the first time a major professional sports team from Tennessee advanced to a championship game. With Laviolette (2014-2020) and the franchise's first head coach, Barry Trotz (1998-2014), the Predators have had some pretty decent coaches. Now a seasoned veteran, the beloved Trotz got his NHL head coaching start in Nashville. Four years after leaving Nashville in 2014, Trotz led the Caps to the Stanley Cup title in 2018. In January 2020, current Preds head coach John Hynes signed a three-year deal that will see him through the 2021-22 NHL season. It will be interesting to see if Nashville sticks with Hynes past 2022.

Their home fields are at Elmington Park at 3500 West End Ave. You can see their games here during the season at Elmington Park when they host out of town teams for competition. The game Footy is some kind of hybrid between American Football, Soccer, and Rugby. The way the do the scoring is related to soccer, and football with a certain number of points assigned based on whether the ball is kicked over a goal post or whether it is carried across the line. I don't completely understand the rules yet, but it is a lot of fun to watch. The game is very fast paced, and I really like the way the do the scoring for the game. Each goal has a score keeper and the score keeper has two flags. Based on the score the flag bearer does some choreographed moves to indicate the score. He wears a white coat and hat and waves the flags in a very formal way. It is enough fun for me just to go and watch the flags wave. Also, the men that seem to gravitate to this sport are quiet buff. So if nothing else you can get the girlfriends together to watch some fit men run around. They aren't wearing any heavy padding to obscure your view. Watching Footy is a nice way to spend a summer afternoon, you can get some sunshine and culture all in one fell swoop.
