    Predators vs. Senators
    Maddie H.

When I lived in California I had two hockey teams within driving range (Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings) but I didn't even become a hockey fan until I lived in Nashville! I like to think that this is because the hockey team has such a passionate and vocal fan base. The Predators are so much fun to watch and the fan experience is like something I've never encountered before. The Team: The Predators as a team have done really well in recent years as they made the playoffs in 2017. Fan favorites include PK Subban, Filip Forsberg, Roman Josi, Ryan Johansen & Pekka Rinne (my personal fave and our goaltender). Former Captain Mike Fisher (married to Carrie Underwood) is set to return from retirement which has fans very excited. Fan Experience: When the predators score Tim McGraw's "I like it, I love it" commences playing and the fans have a coordinated chant taunting the other team ("We're gonna beat the hell out of you, you, you, you") which is more fun yelling insults than you will have at any sports game. The fans also have a tradition of tossing a catfish out onto the ice during the playoffs which is both disgusting and hilarious. Venue/Location: Bridgestone Arena where the Predators play is a great venue that is clean, friendly staff and the security lines are efficient. In this latest season ticket prices have really gone up, but there are still some affordable games depending on who they are playing and if you don't mind being in the 300 sections up top. The location is also walking distance from all the honky tonks so if the Preds win then you are already in the right place to celebrate! (or drown your feelings with a few beers) Take heed that on nights when the Preds are playing the cops will be shutting down lanes of traffic and parking will be harder to come by. If you see people flooding down Broadway in a sea of yellow you will know it is game night! A Final Note: Whether you are a local fan or just visiting Nashville going to a hockey game is a fun experience. I highly recommend checking out our amazing team!

Whiskey row is where it's at. The best views from up top with all you can eat food and drink. Say, what?! I mean, who doesn't enjoy going to a game? And who can turn down all you can eat food and drink? Not me. I had a blast at this game. We watched the game from our seats at first. Then we ate some dinner and watched from up top for some. We finished up the game from our seats. Everyone is super welcoming and friendly. What a blast.

The most kick butt live sports event!!! The venue is great no matter where you sit and the quality of the Tallent on the ice is well worth the cost of admission.

Woot wooooooooooot! First off, I'm not a sportz person, okay let me rephrase that. I enjoy watching sports but most of the time I don't really know what's going on. Which is just proof that even if you don't know anything about hockey, you should go to a live NHL hockey game, because you're still going to enjoy yourself. There's a totally different atmosphere at live sporting events, and hockey is definitely a unique atmosphere. It's cold, it's fast, it's tense, it's loud, it's just too much fun! And if you're in Nashville it's the Predators you're going to see! Worth every penny, and there are cheap tickets to be had! Check it out one night!

The Nashville Predators is a professional National Hockey League Club locally owned here in Nashville! Go Preds. The Predators team was previously owned by an out of towner but now the team ownership is a collective of mostly local middle Tennessee people and a couple out of towners. They was a little worry over the past year about whether the team would be staying in town or not, but it looks like, at least for now they are here to stay. The team is an NHL expansion team which has been in Nashville since the 1998-99 season. The team plays in the Sommet Center right in the heart of downtown. The games run usually two and half hours, with approximately 3-4 goals a game if it is a good night, all the goals belong to us! Tickets for the Preds games range from $19 and up if it is a college night. Usually the team plays 2-3 nights a week when the season gets going in October. Home games during the week usually have a fan give-away or promotional prize for going to the game. Also in the past they do a 2 for 1 deal on beers on Thursdays. During the intermissions they have a live band on the CMT stage. This is something unique to Music City for live sporting events. Anywhere you go in Nashville there will be a live band. The Nashville fans are known for being loud and fun and inappropriate, by shouting things like "(insert goalie name here) is a sissy" and screaming "you suck" when announcing the opposing team's names, and generally having a good ole' time. Occasionally I have seen catfish thrown onto the ice, I have no idea why... Their big rival is the Detroit Red Wings, so if you wanna see a good game, get a ticket for Nashville vs. Detroit.

From out of town (Panthers fan) but HAD to experience hockey in SMASHVILLE! I know Preds haven't gotten to the promised land of Stanley Cup status but they have always been very competitive (unlike my lowly Panthers). They have the unfortunate luck of being in the same div/conf as Chicago and the West in general which is a real dogfight. But they have always had great defense, goaltending and coaching. Stability... something we aren't used to in Sunrise :( Anyway they had a "save of the game" special, a "Smashville" hoodie which my son definitely wanted for only $24. The goal song is appropriate, if not cliche, but also not to my taste of twangy country OR hockey. And their sound system is wayy loud. Oh yeah and cheerleaders? BUT I do love the crowd interactions. They have their own chants whether it be after a bad call or after a Preds goal etc. The concessions are great, BIG team store, live band (like everywhere here in Nashville), and a beer tap that fills the cups from the bottom! I hope to come back for a playoff game against those beasts from Chicago. This is livin' it up in SMASHVILLE!

Ahhhh Predators. I will love you always (even if you don't win a Cup, thought I REALLY REALLY would like to see you bring one home!!). I grew up watching hockey in Canada and was thrilled when I moved to Nashville and was able to go see a live NHL team for a very reasonable price. I love the game, win or lose. Somewhat disappointed in the player lock out that lost us half a year of play.... but..... it's hockey season and my butt is back in the seats. GO PREDS !!!

Being a big hockey fan, I LOVE that there's an NHL team in Tennessee, and driving from Knoxville to Nashville isn't a bad trip. with the 2014-2015 season sporting a new coach and some fresh faces, the Predators seem rejuvenated and put on a great show. The arena is well suited to watch a game, and they do a really great job of keeping even the downtempo moments of the event interesting. I don't really care who they're playing, I'd go back anytime to enjoy professional hockey at its highest level. My only complaint? They have this stupid country song that they play every time the Predators score. I don't know who sings it(I think it's Tim McGraw, but I have no clue about country music), but it goes "I like it. I love it. I want some more of it." and then they change the lyrics so that it's about the Predators scoring. I get that country music is firmly planted in Nashville, but they've been playing that song as long as I've been going to games. I could really go for a new goal song.

    Go Preds!

Their home fields are at Elmington Park at 3500 West End Ave. You can see their games here during the season at Elmington Park when they host out of town teams for competition. The game Footy is some kind of hybrid between American Football, Soccer, and Rugby. The way the do the scoring is related to soccer, and football with a certain number of points assigned based on whether the ball is kicked over a goal post or whether it is carried across the line. I don't completely understand the rules yet, but it is a lot of fun to watch. The game is very fast paced, and I really like the way the do the scoring for the game. Each goal has a score keeper and the score keeper has two flags. Based on the score the flag bearer does some choreographed moves to indicate the score. He wears a white coat and hat and waves the flags in a very formal way. It is enough fun for me just to go and watch the flags wave. Also, the men that seem to gravitate to this sport are quiet buff. So if nothing else you can get the girlfriends together to watch some fit men run around. They aren't wearing any heavy padding to obscure your view. Watching Footy is a nice way to spend a summer afternoon, you can get some sunshine and culture all in one fell swoop.

The Tennessee Titans rate somewhere around three ("OK") to four stars ("Good") for me. On the one…read morehand, this isn't a bad team. They've had many playoff appearances. If you go back to the team's first two seasons, 1960 and 1961, they won back-to-back AFL championships. The AFL is what we know today as the AFC. Back then, the Titans were the Houston Oilers. On the other hand, since the Super Bowl era began in 1967, the Oilers/Titans have zero Super Bowl championships and only one Super Bowl appearance (Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000; 1999 season). If you look at the team's history as the Tennessee Titans (1999-present), again, it's not bad, but it's not great either. The team has made the playoffs 10 of the last 23 years. They've advanced to the AFC Championship Game three times (2000, 2003, and 2020 for the 1999, 2002, and 2019 seasons, respectively) and won the AFC title once. Jeff Fisher was the man in Tennessee (and Houston). He was the head coach of the Titans (and Oilers) from 1994 to 2010, 16+ seasons. He had to deal with rebuilding the team plus moves from Houston to Memphis to Nashville. Ultimately, Fisher went 142-120 (.542) in the regular season and 5-6 (.455) in the postseason as the Titans head coach. Since Fisher, coaches Mike Munchak, Ken Whisenhunt (Georgia Tech alum), and Mike Mularkey combined for only one Titans playoff appearance in seven seasons. Current head coach Mike Vrabel, who won three Super Bowls as a linebacker for Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots, currently has the Titans on the right track. Vrabel was a highly-successful player in college (Ohio State) and the pros and now he's proving his worth as a first-time NFL head coach. So far, Vrabel has led Tennessee to a winning record every year since he signed on in 2018. Since the 2019 season, the Titans have qualified for the playoffs every year. Also since 2019, the team's regular season record has improved every year: 9-7 in 2019, 11-5 in 2020, and 12-5 in 2021. Vrabel was named NFL Coach of the Year for the 2021 season and in February 2022, the Titans extended his contract. Rest in peace, Steve McNair (1973-2009). He was the Titans' starting QB in Super Bowl XXXIV. He was also the league MVP in 2003. Other standouts during the Tennessee Titans era include running backs Eddie George (1996-2003), Chris Johnson (2008-2013), and Derrick Henry (2016-present). I had Henry on one of my fantasy football teams last season (2021). He suffered a major injury in Week 8. Before the injury, he was on pace to be the top-producing player in fantasy football. Both Johnson and Henry won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award: Johnson in 2009 and Henry in 2020. Johnson and Henry are two of only eight players in NFL history to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a single season. The Titans are the only team to have more than one player in the "2,000-yard club."
