Small and cute restaurant serving you authentic Japanese food. Parking is limited and only one way in and out. Upon entering the parking lot, Arirang Korean Kitchen is the first restaurant you'll see. Tenkatori will be at the other end of the building. Take-out only and made to order. Currently, they're not taking phone or online orders. My husband and I went there upon opening on a Saturday morning and it was already busy. Hours vary, so better to check their Instagram before heading there. Our wait time for our food was about 15 minutes which isn't bad considering they just opened a few weeks ago. We also waited in line to order for 10 minutes. Very simple menu. We both ordered the karaage bento and added on sauces to dip our chicken in. My husband got the wasabi mayo while I got the yuzu aioli sauce. He also ordered a side of potato mac salad which was not needed, since that came as a side in the bento. Everything, from the menu to the inside of the restaurant was super kawaii (cute). The only thing is that it was hot in the restaurant, since they can't get the AC to circulate well. They did provide fans for their customers which was really nice of them. By itself, the chicken was juicy and delicious. Sauces were not needed. However, I did try both sauces. They were tasty and a good amount was given for the price. I mopped my bento and it was so ʻono. We can't wait to try their curry for next time. read more

Decided to order the Chicken Karate Bento with the Lilikoi dressing. I had a short wait. There are a few chairs to sit upon and about three small tables to dine in. But waiting outside is not a problem. Ordering was easy. The personnel are helpful and suggestive. It helps! Upon paying you get a ticket with your number. You can order online or by phone also. Which I noticed a lot of people coming in to pickup did! The chicken was fresh, hot, moist and so delicious! I came here with a friend and split some food. We ate in and the waitress was AMAZING! She was so nice and kind that it set the right mood for the meal. We split the 8 piece fried chicken thighs with rice and a side of eggplant and green beans. The vegetables portion was on the small side but the flavor was unbelievably good. When we ordered the rice the waitress told us what kind it was and how it was in season in Japan and they get it right from there. It was very sticky and delicious. The chicken was boneless with the skin still on and came out juicy and crunchy. It was some of the best fried chicken ever and the sweet and spicy sauce we got was great. The amount of food was perfect for 2 people to split for lunch and was a great meal. We will be back for sure. read more

Thanks to a recent review in the Hawaii Tribune Herald this week, I've discovered chicken karaage bento! Because it's fried when you order it, it takes a bit of time to get your order. Adorable new karaage spot, no other place like it on Big Island right now. The chicken was perfectly fried and tastes just like the stuff from Japan, totally authentic. It can get a little busy so order ahead if you're getting a lot and can't wait, but if you decide to walk in, they supply seating at the entry for plenty. When we went there was no wait and we dined in at the counter seating. It's a a new spot but as we watched them work we could tell they were already a well oiled machine! This is the best fried chicken that I've had on this island. It's crispy and crunchy without being hard, chewy, or dry. The Gyu Don has a good flavor but it has more onions than meat. This place will be a regular go to when getting take out. Will try the curry next time. read more

I have been there 3 times in one month on my second trip they had forgotten part of my order and realized it when I got home. Couldn't find a phone number to call so I messaged them on IG and to my surprise they responded quickly and said that I can come in when convenient to get my missing food item.
