Tendril makes amazing wines, from pinot noirs to chardonnay to sparkling wine I enjoyed all of it. Andrew is super friendly and a great manager with lots of knowledge of the wines being made by this place, Tony is super fun to talk to and learn more about wines, soil, terroir and the grapes of Oregon, he has many years of wine making experience so bring a notebook. I recently visited the Willamette Valley for the first time on a week long trip to Oregon. My boyfriend is a member at Tendril and we did the tasting at their new facility in Carlton. The town of Carlton is very charming and we were able to walk to other tastings afterwards. The wines at Tenril were truly outstanding, my favorites were the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. I also loved that the Child's Play labels were drawn by the winemakers daughters. We were hosted by Andrew who was very knowledgeable about the wines and the house story. I hope to come back to the area again soon because we had a blast. If you are in the area don't miss out! read more

Cellar Door Wine Tours took us to Tendril Wine Cellars first on our 3-winery tour and warned us we'd like it best. We truly did. Each wine was delicious. I'm an Oregon pinot noir fan and they make great ones, but also loved their white pinot noir and rose. Tasting manager Andrew was delightful and kept us both informed and laughing! The tasting room is very small, but they also have outside picnic tables for warmer months. Make an appointment and enjoy! I signed up for the wine club as I enjoyed every sip. read more

This was my first visit to Tendril and I certainly will go back. Andrew and Josef were very welcoming, knowledgeable and contributed greatly to the experience. I think we tasted six wines in all and were impressed by each one. We tasted an excellent Chardonnay and bought several bottles. The Pinot flight is wonderful providing a good range. In addition they also have a white pinot which is delicious. Tendril is a charming spot, unique in its setting. We sat outdoors under the pear and apple trees. It is well worth visiting if you haven't been there. I would put it on a don't miss list. read more

We had the best wine tasting at Tendril. We had a party of four and every one of us truly liked all the wines. We didn't realize the winemaker originated from Domaine Serene but it is amazing wine. The staff is knowledgeable and engaging and they have beautiful outdoor seating available under an apple tree. read more

Thank you so much to Tony, Sam, and Tendril for this excellent experience on our Portland Vacation. My wife and I made a trip out to Gaston this last weekend, and I am so happy that we were able to hook up with Tendril Wine Cellars. Not only for the very very good Pinot Noir wines, but for the most unique wine tasting experience of our lifetimes. We contacted Tendril Wine Cellars prior to our visit to Portland. As mentioned on their site, they do wine tastings/winery tours but they need to be reserved in advance. Trust me. Reserve a time now. You won't be sorry. We were able to talk personally with the vineyard owner (Tony). But what made this the most unique tasting of my lifetime, was the fact that we were afforded the opportunity to taste the wine straight from the barrels prior to the wines even being bottled. That's right. We were escorted down to the barrel room, and using a unique device, Tony was able to extract a few ounces of wine straight from the barrel. We tasted a Pinot Noir that was very near to it's bottling time (excellante). And we tasted a few Pinots that were in the midst of their fermentation process. Those particular tastings were a bit fizzy, almost like soda. Awesome. Interesting. And definitely, unique. We then made our way back up to the main offices and tasting area. We were able to sit down with Tony and enjoy another tasting of a finished product (a recent vintage of his signature Tendril Pinot Noir). It was so good, we walked away with the Reserve Tendril Pinot Noir. So get yourself to Tendril Wine Cellars. The drive there is beautiful. The last couple miles are a bit interesting as you drive out into the middle of farm country on a rock covered dirt road. But the end destination is worth it. And if you come home with a bottle or two, you can enjoy the taste and memories for a bit longer. read more

We spent a relaxing Saturday afternoon at their tasting room in Carlton. Tony took us through his Child's Play wines that was perfect for a very warm day outside under an umbrella. The Rose was very interesting and different than your garden variety ones. We loved it so much we bought bottles for home. The Pinot Noir was excellent too. Bought several of them as well. We finished with a Malbec with grapes from Washington State. Yes, took home bottles of that home too. We will be back when we run through our stash! read more

My husband and I escaped to Oregon for a weekend away from Seattle during Covid and stumbled across this charming winery. The outdoor space easily accommodated social distancing and the wine is delicious. We discovered white Pinot noir wine and now are addicted. Oh my. Great experience, even greater wine! Oddly, even though we live in the Willamette Valley we were not aware of Tendril until relatives in Wisconsin (where both Tony and Sam are from) turned us on to it. That resulted I our visit to Tendril today (with said relatives)) and OH MY!! What an experience. The wine at Tendril is second to none, and Sam as our host,was so friendly and informative. Yes An sppointment is required,,but it is SO worth it!! Tony's wine background definitely shows in the quality of these wines. No short cuts are taken here, the wines are aged to perfection before release and as such EXCELLENT out of the bottle. We've just become fans!! read more

I've followed this winemaker for a few years & yet, just recently had a bottle of the '10 Tendril Tightrope Pinot Noir. I was delighted w/ my purchase, from the very first sip. Great cola, bright strawberry/cherry characteristics & once the bottle was open for 45min-1hr, the wine really blossomed & added depth of light chocolate & smoke. What a treat to stumble across this impressive, little gem. I can't wait to see future vintages! read more
