This is the only winery I've been to in years that still has $10 tastings (and it's six pours!)-- that alone is enough to earn high praise. The tasting room is intimate but comfortable and very well air conditioned, which was much appreciated as it was over 100 outside! The gentleman pouring was absolutely lovely and very attentive even though the place was packed when we arrived. The wine was good. Usually I am more of a white wine enthusiast, but the Barbera here was excellent. The Tempranillo was very spicy, which worked for me but I know does not appeal to everyone. read more

A wonderful find in the downtown area of Newberg. Small tasting room but it flows nicely and has fiercely loyal customer base. The members help to keep the prices lower than some of the surrounding tasting rooms. A knowledgeable staff very well versed in the art of conversation not too over the top on the wine lingo. Enough to wet your whistle and give you a good story about your bottle as you open it at your event. Surely you will be the star of the show when you offer this wine to your friends. Of course its about taste and each individual can and will find something they like maybe even a couple favorites. They make a wide variety and even try some special bottles. Bravuro Cellars has 2 locations: a tasting room in Newberg that is quaint and intimate, and it's Vineyard and tasting room in Amity, which is charming and welcoming. I prefer the vineyard location, which is open weekends only (see website for details). Sitting on their patio facing the vineyard on a sunny day is breathtaking. Note: this place is for red wine lovers. Specifically big bold red wines. I love coming here after tasting Pinots, because the richer deeper flavors are more to my liking. I suggest packing a small picnic and making an afternoon of it: taste the flight of big bold reds, and when you've picked your favorite, share a bottle with friends over a nosh. I love this tasting room so much I returned and brought another friend with me. For some reason it wasn't as cold as I remembered it, which was great because I had come prepared with a light jacket only to forget it in the car which was parked several blocks away. I was super happy to see that Mike was working again that day. I was surprised that he remembered me and thought that was really nice. He expertly guided us through the tasting flight as we chatted about an upcoming cruise through the Bordeaux region of France that we all agreed sounded like a ton of fun. We didn't sip on any Bordeaux, but their Tempranillo is fantastic. I also really enjoyed the Best in Show which is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Petite Sirah. Both very smooth and drinkable on their own. I know I said in my last review that I was going to join their really awesome wine club on my next visit. That didn't happen. Not pretentious like some of the other local wineries that take themselves so seriously - we really enjoyed our easy relaxed and friendly visit. So much so that we joined their wine club. While traveling through the area on business, I decided to check into some local wineries in Newberg. Since it was the end of the day, and after checking Yelp for local reviews, I came across an excellent combination of great reviews and extended hours at Bravura. This small boutique winery is family run, and only sells through the tasting room. We had the opportunity to meet and spend quite a bit of time with Steve, the owner, who presented us with a great variety of their wines. All, including the dessert wine was fantastic. Tasting fee is fairly cheap, if you check in on Yelp with a photo, your tasting is free. As many wineries do, the tasting is free with the purchase of a bottle... We ended up buying six bottles. As mentioned in the tips, this is one of the few tasting rooms that is open until 6 PM. A big bonus for those of us who work and enjoy wine tasting. I'll definitely be back in the future to see what new wines they'll be offering. read more

We first visited Bravura and met Steve when we saw the (first) Big Bold Reds sign around Newberg. Once we tasted their El Matador red blend, we were hooked from there. Since then we have truly appreciated every one of their wines, not to mention their genuine hospitality when we come by to taste new ones. The biggest draw to Steve and Bravura Cellars was the fact that they don't do what the masses in our valley do...Pinot Noir. Don't get me wrong, we like a good Pinot Noir on rare occasion but we like Bravura because they don't make a bad wine. None are average, none are watery and bland, none are second rate. If you like the full array of wines, it's okay to have more than one wine club membership. Just know that you're doing yourself a great service by having one that specializes in the more sought after choice to wine drinkers--big bold reds. read more

I was impressed by all the 5 star Yelp reviews and thought I'd bring my out of town guests to this so called "local" winery. Big mistake. Firstly, they don't make any of their own wines - they simply rebottle other ordinary California brands and jack up the price. The white haired man behind the counter turned arrogant and defensive when I asked them about their vineyards. With so many excellent, legitimate wineries just down the road in the Willamette Valley, don't waste your time and money here drinking cheap wine with a bad vibe. read more

We just stopped in on thanksgiving on a whim and we're met so warmly by the owners and their dog Luna. As one of the only (if not the only) places to try big bold reds in the area we were just happy they'd have the selection, but we were thrilled with the tasting.
