Charcuterie Board

This was the 23rd winery in 1999 here and now there is over 400!! It's all about the Pinot Noir as noted in the movie Sideways!!!This winery was named after their daughter. Off the beaten path and certainly a gem. Excellent wine information for the winemaker. Our tasting included a charcuterie board. Here we shipped home our wine 2023 Natalie's Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir. This is a small beautiful boutique winery.

On our second winery tour of Natalie's Estate, we had the pleasure of first class treatment by the winemaker/owner and his lovely wife, as well as their tasting room staffer Cameron. The winery is by appointment only, and is so quaint and cozy nestled among the trees on the hillside overlooking the picturesque vineyard that having the intimate tasting experience only enhances the elegance of the wines they produce. The wines range from those from grapes grown on premises to small batches from grapes secured from around the Willamette Valley, the Dales and even Walla walla! The tasting is enhanced by fresh made nibbles that are paired with the wines on the days tasting list. Most of the vintages are produced in sub-100 case batches and are truly cellar worthy. Be sure to add Natalie's to the list for your next wine tour in the valley. It's one you truly don't want to miss!

There are such varieties in wineries from small to large, from family owned to corporate conglomerates. Natalie's is so special as a smaller winery with such personal touch from the owners. We had a Saturday tasting where we were the only ones there for an hour or so, and were joined by three other guests for the last half of our visit. Boyd Teegarden (co-founder) conducted the whole tasting and was obviously able to provide the most insight conversation about the estate and his wines. We enjoyed everything and will continue to get some roses and pinots. Having that personal connection adds so much.

If you want a tranquil & personable experience with something other than 8 to 10 Pinot Noirs, visit Boyd and Jeff at Natalie's Estate. What a great experience. I could have sat and talked with these gentleman about wine, viticulture and experiences for hours. They have different tasting rooms so we got 1 on 1 attention for our tasting experience. They also have a good variety of wines, from Rose to Cabs to Meritage, the list goes on. The best part is, there wasn't a bad one in the flight! You can tell they take pride in their wines and what they do. I appreciated that. Small production, but what they thrive on is quality and customer service, not quantity. Beautiful, rustic venue and views, as well. I highly recommend visiting Natalie's Estate Winery.

A great "farm to glass" winery but don't let its modest facility fool you, they are making great reds sourcing fruit from their vineyards in and out of Oregon. The farmer/owner/vintner/tasting room host is Boyd and he along with his wife not only know lots about wine and wine making but are the nicest people you are ever going to meet. Because of their modest operation, their tasting fee was only $15 and their bottle prices provide great value for the money. We particularly enjoyed the merlot and the cab. Do yourself a favor and check these guys out if you want high quality in a low-key, no-hype setting.

Dave is delightful, personable, and incredibly knowledgeable. He explained his winemaking philosophy in a way that made everyone feel included, no matter their experience level. His passion for what he does shines through in every story, especially his inspiring journey into winemaking. By the end, we all felt like we'd made a new friend. The wines were excellent, the tasting room was beautiful, and the view made the whole experience unforgettable. We three had a 2 hour wine tasting with David on a sunny day in August. This was our first visit. WINES: 5.0. We enjoyed the wines, especially the 2017 Villanelle Reserve Pinot Noir and the 2021 Jupiter Pinot Noir. We purchased 4 bottles of wine to take home; we look forward to tasting them outside the warm, seductive ambiance of our winery visit. SERVICE: 5.0. David, the owner, patiently answered our questions as he guided our 2 hour experience on an outside veranda overlooking a vineyard. We learned new things about wines (both in general and the Bells Up selection in particular), the naming of the Bells Up Winery and of its wines as related to music, and more. AMBIANCE: 4.5. Attractive setting. Our private tasting on the outside veranda was enchanting. Though the sound of a leaf blower at a neighboring property was a minor distraction during the first few minutes, the music of the wines effortlessly drowned it out; the leaf blowing ended soon after our arrival in any case.

We feel that an excellent wine tasting trip is 90% the way you are treated and the overall experience. There was another young man who interacted with us as well that was very nice and pointed us to other wineries along our route. We did enjoy their wines very much and picked up a few bottles. This winery we would definitely come back to.

The staff was polite, welcoming, and friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing. The experience was like going into a nice home, next to a vineyard, for wine and cheese. Lovely atmosphere. Our group of eight had a Saturday afternoon reservation. We arrived and were seated before 12:30pm and left by around 1:45pm. This did not appear to be a big operation. During our visit, I saw only two lady employees tending to all the customers. Rain Dance has indoor and outdoor seating. We were seated inside. Regardless of where you sit, there are good views of the property's vineyard and garden. It's beautiful and serene. Shortly after our tasting began, a bachelorette party left. Therefore, we had the inside all to ourselves save for a couple seated by the window. The weather was pleasant so several doors to the house were left open, creating a calm, gentle breeze. We had the wines listed below. Individual bottle prices are from the time of our tasting and descriptions are from Rain Dance's website at the time of writing this review ( https://raindancevineyards.com/shop/ ). * 2022 Grand Oak Vineyard Riesling. $32 for 750-mL bottle. "Classic aromas and flavors of stone fruit and tropical flowers are lifted by vibrant acidity on the palate. This drier-style Riesling allows for so much versatility at the dinner table, but fish dishes are our favorites." * 2023 Grand Oak Gewurztraminer. $32 for 750-mL bottle. "A Rain Dance favorite! Gewurztraminer is a rare find in Oregon, especially in such a dry style. Its lively notes of jasmine, peach and spice box are perfect for Asian and Indian dishes loaded with their own exotic spices." * 2022 Estate Pinot Noir Cuvee. $45 for 750-mL bottle. "Fresh notes of cherries, pomegranate, plums, black pepper, pipe tobacco, and cinnamon." * 2021 Grand Oak Vineyard Pinot Noir. $60 for 750-mL bottle. "Bright and fresh with a complex assortment of dark cherries, raspberries, cranberries, intermingled with thyme, sage, and cinnamon." Since the time of our visit, I think the 2022 Grand Oak Vineyard Riesling and the 2021 Grand Oak Vineyard Pinot Noir have been replaced by 2023 and 2022 vintages, respectively. We also had at least two charcuterie boards ($35 each) that included crackers, roasted hazelnuts, onion jam, pork rillettes, raisins, and three kinds of cheese. The total cost for our group for everything was $336, which worked out to $42 per person. While I've been to a lot of wineries/vineyards and done a lot of wine tastings (just search my reviews), I'm still by no means a wine connoisseur. All I can say about Rain Dance is I thought all of the wines were enjoyable. All four, from the riesling to the pinot noirs, were delectable. They smelled and tasted well made and high quality. In short, I enjoyed our visit to Rain Dance and thought it was worth the visit. Rain Dance Vineyards is named after owners and founders Celia and Ken Austin's Rain Dance Ranch. The ranch was established in 1991 and the vineyard was established in 2009.

Oliver Springs Vineyard was our favorite stop on our small wine tour through Willamette Valley,…read morea.k.a. Oregon Wine Country. Husband and wife founders and owners Jim and Stephanie Houchins are nothing short of fantastic. The wines we tasted were excellent. After meeting Jim and Stephanie, I could really see the passion they had for wine and their vineyard. Oliver Springs is truly a labor of love for them. According to their website ( https://oliverspringsvineyard.com/ ), their first vintage year was 2016 and they "are currently producing approximately 300 cases a year, making [them] a micro-boutique winery." Our tasting consisted of the following wines: * 2021 Chardonnay * 2019 Estate Pinot Noir * 2021 Estate Pinot Noir * 2019 Kieta's Block Pinot Noir * 2019 Sasha's Block Pinot Noir The tasting, regularly $25 per person, included a sheet with tasting notes. Stephanie conducted the tasting and Jim assisted. Jim also took us on an educational and informative tour of the vineyard. Oliver Springs has multiple grape clones, which are cut and grafted from the same mother vines. I'm no wine expert/connoisseur, but I believe the general thought is clones produce more consistent, higher-quality wines. The Kieta and Sasha Block Pinot Noirs were named after two of Jim and Stephanie's huskies. A third husky, Mosey (Mozzie? I'm not sure how to spell it.), joined us for our tasting and vineyard tour, which added to the experience. :) Oliver Springs is a small operation. I believe the vineyard is only about 3.5 acres. I know it's not Stephanie's full-time job and I guess probably not for Jim either. They're open on weekends by appointment only. Our group of eight visited on a Saturday morning around 10:30am. We left shortly after 12:00pm. They have a relatively small, simple, clean, and modern building with a tasting room inside. Unlike many other wineries, this one provides an intimate, get-to-know-the-owners type wine-tasting experience. Several of us ended up ordering wine afterwards. The wine cost anywhere from $42 to $50 per bottle. As is customary, they have wine clubs you can join as well. See my pictures or contact them for more info. If you're putting together a list of wineries to visit in Oregon, I highly recommend Oliver Springs Vineyard.
