We really enjoyed our visit to Tender Greens in Santa Monica. The café has a spacious dining area, which is actually quite rare for Santa Monica, with plenty of seating inside, plus a nice outdoor patio. The food was tasty and well prepared. The only small note -- the chicken was a bit spicy. We didn't ask about the spice level, and unfortunately the cashier didn't warn us, but overall the quality of the food was still very good. The service was friendly and efficient. Our order was ready in about 15 minutes, even though the café was moderately busy at the time. Prices are reasonable -- you can easily stay under $20 per person. Another big plus is the nearby multi-level parking, which is definitely important in Santa Monica and makes visiting much more convenient. Overall, I would recommend this place and would happily come back again. read more

Tender Greens is one of our go-to lunch spots, my colleague and I have it on weekly rotation because it's just that good. Their plates and bowls are consistently amazing. We've tried the mac and cheese, chipotle BBQ chicken bowl, buttermilk fried chicken plate, steak plate, salt and pepper chicken, carrot cake and the apple crumble dessert, everything has been delicious and super satisfying. I did try the pesto pasta once and felt like it needed more pesto, and I wasn't a fan of the potatoes in it either. But aside from that, the food here never disappoints. 30 minutes before they closed, I came to tender greens for a healthy, tasty dinner. I was greeted very warmly. I ordered at the counter and took my seat. The dining room is spacious, clean and modern. This location is a block away from Ocean Boulevard in Santa Monica. I ordered the seared tuna, romaine hearts, and roasted potatoes. They were delivered pretty quickly, and everything was delicious and the portions were generous, especially the potatoes. The croutons in their salad are insane. Dinner also came with a hunk of toast made of that same heaven-sent bread, which I took home. My server was super nice and brought my dessert out a few minutes later. The apple crumble is served with a nice big dollop of cream, which gives you that warm toasty feeling without consuming a whole serving of ice cream on your apple crumble. The apple crumble apple slices were nicely covered with cinnamon and not too sweet. I really enjoy eating on real plates with real silverware. That was fun. I took my leftovers home in a compostable container. I had the hibiscus tea, which was absolutely delicious. Everyone here was kind and helpful, and I would absolutely come back. read more

I had not been to Tender Greens in a while and I am glad to see that this is still a great place for lunch. The food is always fresh and they have the best healthy options. I also love that they offer a daily Aqua Fresca that is usually a nice mix of fruit and herbs. The highlight of our lunch was Eric who took our order. Tender Greens is one of my favorite meals. I could eat here everyday. My go to is the chipotle chicken salad. It is amazeballs! But everything is pretty delicious too. My favorite store by far is the Santa Monica location. This location is on point every time, it always has been and continues to be the best location. It is consistent. All locations should be trained the same as this store. Consistency is key. The other stores are not consistent with the menu items and it makes the experience at any other TG unsatisfactory. read more

So bad. I was hoping that the quality had gone up with the increase in price but sadly the quality has gone down even further. I ordered the tuna nicoise, which I started ordering and loving in 2018. The quality, flavor, and choice of ingredients have declined consistently since COVID. The execution was tragic as well. Way over-dressed salad with a fraction of the items that used to be included in this menu item, an overarching flavor of....just salt lol, tuna that looked ok but left much to be desired in terms of a sear, and tasted just a touch rancid? Prices are astronomical these days and service was soooo embarrassingly slow. I miss pre-COVID Tender Greens, which was truly great and had both semi-reasonable prices as well as fresh flavor combinations that truly delighted the senses. They elevated salad back then and made me appreciate everyday raw greens in a way no other restaurant/casual establishment had ever done before. I ordered the seabass with mashed potatoes, and we also had the baked chicken. Su at this location who is one of the service members is outstanding. Always high energy and very polite and nice. She's a joy to see every time I visit. Their food is fantastic and their pricing very reasonable. My only issue is that they serve their bread in way that tastes like plastic. It seems as if everything is fresh except the bread. It always tastes like bread that was toasted several days ago. I wish they could fresh toast them per order. The ambiance is laid back Southern California. I like it a lot. It's so bad it's laughable. I had intended to go to the California Chicken Café but of course they still don't have a place to sit down post pandemic so I ended up at Tender Greens on 2nd in Santa Monica. The tomato soup is literally a heartburn on a plate. Steak salad is awful, but what's worse is the decor. The dirty, dingy gray cabinets that hold the water machine only filthy germs.. The old 1990's office furniture in the dining room. It looks like it has dog bites right off the fake leather it's so worn. The bathrooms locked down like Fort Knox with 10 did-get codes and the service is hashtag deplorable! With so many great places gone why is this still standing? ! read more

I always order the same thing: steak with roasted veggies sometimes brown rice and arugula salad and sometimes with a side of rustic chicken soup. When it comes to excellent customer service, delicious meals and compassionate support for community initiatives for senior citizens, Eric, Manager of Tender Greens Santa Monica (and the Marina del Rey store ) and the Tender Greens team were the answer to my prayers. His support was nothing short of a miracle, because the employee I had originally worked with to support our event was suddenly gone! Vanished, without letting me know! I didn't know what we were going to do to feed 30 health care providers at the latest minute! Thankfully, Eric saved the day! He honored what I had been promised and even threw in some cookies! What a blessing it was to work with Eric. He literally saved the day because he cares about the customer experience and building relationships with the community!
