Pros: very friendly staff, they become invested in your pets and treat them like their own, always willing to work with our work schedules, and the pups come home exhausted. Con: only one is that the option to purchase a larger daycare package at a discounted rate would be nice, since with 3 dogs we do tend to go through it in about 5 weeks. We used Tenaker for overnight boarding while we were away on our honeymoon, and they were amazing! I loved being able to check in on our dog through the camera system. She can be a little timid with group play, but she had such a great time thanks to the caring and attentive staff. We have used Tenaker numerous times for boarding and planning our next trip currently. Each time we have boarded, the dogs have been happy to come home, obviously, but were fine. I will never bring my dog back to this establishment for any type of service. I was screamed at by a VERY unprofessional employee who told me that I couldn't have my dog back that day and proceeded to slam the door a lock us outside of the facility. I had to call the cops to get my dog back on my SCHEDULED DAY to pick him up from boarding. My dog was kept in a smaller kennel than what I had paid for and he was absolutely terrified when they finally brought him outside, he couldn't get in the car fast enough. Once I got my dog home he seemed dehydrated and under fed. He was underweight from just the 5 days he spent in boarding. Do not take your dogs here!! read more

I used this facility in the past for boarding my dogs, but after this last time I will never use them again. If you ask the staff to call, as in really picking up the phone to call, they will send you an e-mail. The website is lacking in information that would be very helpful: i.e. You will be charged another full day if you don't pick up your pet(s) by 12 noon. When I saw the extra charge on my invoice, I called only to be asked, "Didn't anyone tell you?" Clearly not. Had I have been told, I would have had someone pick up my dogs for me instead of being charged for a full day for an extra three hours and 17 minutes. The time you pick them up is on the invoice. I was also told there was nothing that could be done because this is the way "the system" is set up--you have to love it when you are disempowered by "the system", but don't offer to check with management to see if anything could really be offered to rectify the situation. The website also does not state if you want the discount for additional dogs, they have to be in the same kennel. They cannot be in separate kennels giving them more space. I'm not sure what happened this past time with my dogs, but when we picked them up, you could tell, especially with the youngest dog, that something wasn't right. When we got home, they emptied the water bowl twice, leading me to think they had not had any water recently. Going forward, my dogs will be boarded in a different kennel. read more

This pet center is amazing! I was welcomed by a very friendly receptionist who was able to answer any and all of my questions and was able to ease my anxiety about the safety and care of my dog. I believe her name was Masha. She made my experience very welcoming and pleasant I would highly recommend this center for anyone looking for a safe and friendly environment for your fur babies! I boarded my cat here as a last resort before Christmas. When I dropped her off, the staff didn't ask any questions about her preferences etc. even though she had never stayed there before. Usually, other facilities ask for feeding schedules, whether she can have toys, treats, etc. When I picked her up, she was a bit plumper than usual. But what I really noticed is she seemed EXTREMELY distressed on the way home. She howled and yelled the whole way, which is not typical for her at all. Once home, I realized that the blanket inside her kennel REEKED of urine but was not wet. The kennel carrier also stank. Reading other reviews, it seems other people's pets also come home stinking of urine. That is not ok. I will not be boarding my cat here again. read more

Tenakre Pet Boarding: Picked up my dog,Jake a shihpoo, after a 2 week vacation. He was covered neck to tail in urine stench and all wet. He lost 2 pounds over the 2 weeks, and for a 16 lb dog, that's a lot. I had given them the wet dog food that he likes, and they were to add dry. I doubt that was done at all. Have used Tenakre for years but on much shorter stays. At $27.50/day, this was total neglectful care. We will no longer use Tenakre. Turns out Jake had to be put down, two days after picking him up. I was way off on the weight he had lost, he was 16 lbs on drop off, and 9.4 lbs at the vets. We made the determination that he needed to be put down, as he was now incontinent and could barely walk, and just skin and bones. Tenakre has refused any responsibility, and claims he ate every day: Impossible! Do not trust this boarding facility at all. read more

The dogs come home smelling like urine. The front desk staff are rude and they have a weird one hour window for pick ups on Sunday. Recently, I left my dog at their kennel. She contracted kennel cough. When I called the vet clinic to schedule her for an exam due to illness contracted at their facility, the lady was very defensive, unapologetic, and seemed "put out" that I wanted to bring my dog in with a highly contagious kennel cough. What upset me the most was when she said, "That's why I don't bring my dog to a kennel." I understand that it is highly contagious and can spread in the best of kennels but the schedulers attitude and lack of empathy will keep me from coming back. She made me feel guilty for bringing my dog to their facility!! I gave 2 stars because the kennel staff was friendly and seemed like they loved what they do. read more

We've used Tenaker for about 3 years whenever we go out of town. The staffs are very friendly and communicate well. They also offer off-hour drop off/pick up which is a plus. This is a nice place but our last visit had an issue. Our dog was in cage #1 for 2 nights. The second night I got a call that our dog was biting her leg and pulling hair out. When we came to see our dog, she had bite marks and pulled most of the hair on one leg, revealing the bare skin. I appears our dog had some kind of insect or termite bite. Just to make sure I took her to our Vet and had an exam, they put our dog on antibiotic and itch medicine for two weeks, and we also took her to grooming and shaved her hair. This could've been an isolated incident but that's what happened to us just couple weeks ago. read more

Brought my pup here to be groomed and could not be more pleased with both Anastasia (groomer) and rest of Tenaker staff! All we so loving and instantly made me feel at ease and my dog too! Grooming appointment took less than 3 hours, included nails and ears. Paid extra for other services which was well worth it! We will definitely return for grooming and daycare services. We've been taking our pups here for ten years. Yes, there has been turnover over the years but we've always received great care. The current staff are wonderful-genuinely caring. They were very supportive in helping us make decisions about our sick girl-compassionate, knowledgeable and reasonable. I recently used Tenaker pet care center to board my 2 corgis. I picked this place as a recommendation from my vet. I was very happy with how everything turned out. My flight left early in the morning so I was able to drop them off before hours. They had my pups kennel all ready for them and tub for me to place their toys and food. Pick up was just as easy. I know my dogs had a great time because they slept for a long time after we got home. I've boarded my dog elsewhere before and he came home so sick but not this time. I don't even know where to start... I got a new dog, Cooper, and brought him in after a bad visit at one of those chain petsmart places. Cooper was an anxious mess when we got him and was costing us several hundred dollars already, not to mention the HOA "barking" at us because our dog yelped and whined all day. So, I brought him in, hoping they'd really care about my dog and his anxiety. They did. They were phenomenal - the staff, the nurse, the vet(s)...I mean...I called 5 times in one day about a medication and they were SO helpful and responsive. I purposely signed on to Yelp just to recommend this facility. Cooper is doing better and I feel better knowing I can trust my dog in their care. Oh, and our first visit? We have been taking our Vizsla, Igor, to Tenaker for over a year now. Igor is our first dog and we have had a few freak outs and Tenaker has always been so honest with us. He had awful diarrhea once and they sent us home with Endosorb tablets and didn't charge us for the visit just the medicine and said if got worse to call a couple days later. It ended up clearing right up. Igor loves going to the vet too because they show him so much love when he comes in for a check up. I highly recommend Tenaker as a vet clinic. I boarded my 2 dogs here after reading several good reviews. They seemed very professional and what we needed in a boarding facility. However, after staying for 3 days, when I picked them up, they were wet, covered in urine stench. The staff apologized for their 'feet' being wet, because they had just cleaned their kennel. Apparently they hosed it down with the dogs still in there, and everything spattered up on the undersides of my dogs. Who cleans a kennel with the dogs still in there? I didn't realize the extent of the mess until I got them in the car; I had to drive home with the windows down to breathe through the stench. After we got home, one of my dogs had diarrhea and wouldn't eat. She had an accident on one of our rugs, and has been feeling down all day. Not sure if she needs to see the vet yet or not. We also had to take both in get bathed and have to get the car cleaned up, too. It reeks! In any case, we will never go back to this place again! read more

I have boarded my dog, a yellow lab, here twice. During the first visit, it was a good stay. I could tell my dog was a little rowdy when he got home so he probably had been kept in the kennel for a while. They do have extra play time that can be purchased with each stay and I had requested extra for each day during his stay. Other than that, nothing was wrong. The staff was friendly and the cost was reasonable. They also have plenty of space in the back for the dogs to play and an indoor pool. My real complaint was after the second stay. I picked my dog up and he had a huge lump on top of his head. Obviously this lump was new and had developed during his stay there and I was livid. The staff handled it as professionally as they could have though, they did not get assertive with me at any point during the confrontation. They offered free treatment at their on site vet and provided medication. However, my concern was how this huge lump even developed. The staff reasoned that he probably had been playing rough, or running and could have bumped his head. But this has never happened at home where he runs around just as much or at the dog park where he plays with other dogs. The staff assured me that no one there would ever hit an animal and I believe them, yet I was still deeply upset that this could have happened and that it had not been treated beforehand or wouldn't have been at all if I had not said anything. My dog eventually healed because the lump on top of his head went back down. A few months after, the lump reappeared so I took him to his usual vet. Well long story short, my dog had to have surgery and I honestly feel as if all of this could have been avoided had I just chosen to board him at another pet care center that are more attentive of the animals in their care. read more

Recently, I attempted to schedule, leaving 3 messages with detailed information and finally received a call back days later from a lady who must be new. She left me a very vague and snotty message (tone was not pleasant). I understand this is not a hospital and I didn't expect a call back immediately, but again I had to call and leave a few messages prior to getting a returned call. We took our two dogs here over the holidays for 10 days. Their website advertises 24/7 drop off/pick up for easy access to and from the airport. This was not the case at all. We wanted to drop our dog off at 4:00 on a Saturday and were told 2:00 was the latest we could drop off on a Saturday, making it very inconvenient as we booked there to drop off on our way to the airport. Also, we wanted to pick up on new years day and were told they were closed all day with no pick up times available and then were charged for the extra night. A boarding facility of this size should have some pick up times available. Most places I have gone to at least offer limited pick up times on holidays. AND......We were told to bring two blankets for our dogs and they lost both. I asked if I would be compensated for that, especially since one was brand new and was told no. I could take one of their crummy wet blankets home instead. I will definitely not be going back to this place and would not recommend. Also, our dogs were starving when they came home and looked like they both lost some weight. read more

I dropped my dog off for Thanksgiving, a total of 8 days. When I arrived I was informed that my dog had hurt her duwclaw so they wrapped it and waited until we arrived because they knew we were picking her up today. When I was handed her and her bed (that was very wet), blanket (also very wet) and toys they smelled like pee. Never has my dog peed on a bed or in the house, she has been to boarding facilities before and I have never had this problem. By the way she smells and they wetness of the items she must have been in this for more than one day. I understand that dogs get hurt but my dog and her items should not smell like pee. After walking to the car I decided they bed smelt too bad to put into my car and I walked in and asked them to get rid of it. For what I paid for my dog to be taken care of I find this unexceptionable, I am also in the business of caring for others animals and this is not how I would allow an animal or their items to be returned. So now I have a dog that smells like pee, and vets bills because they also did not tell me how this happened to my dog and her claw is missing not torn. After I called to get more information about what happened I spoke to the person that wrapped her foot and handed her and her items to me, come to find out he is the manager. When I asked him why she and her stuff smelt so bad he told me he didn't "notice it". When I asked why a vet did not see her I was told that they didn't think she needed to be seen by one. When I asked to have the owner call me he never apologized once. I was refunded half of my payment but that does not fix the fact that my dog smelt like old pee. Like I said before I understand animals get hurt, what upset me the most was that my dog was kept in a dirty kennel and she and all her items smelt like old pee and I had to throw things away. If you love your dog you will take them someplace else. read more

Very happy with our 2-week stay for 2 dogs in June 2019. I really liked the 2 folks who worked the front desk and were in charge of the kennels. Both friendly, polite and genuinely seemed to like animals. It's an affordable dog boarding facility. Scheduling, dropping off and pick up were all done with ease. It's family owned and operated by folks I've been told are very big in giving back, which is the type of business I love to support! The staff is always super friendly and accommodating! I know when our dog stays at the kennel he'll be treated like one of the family, and it's comforting to know there is a vet on property at the clinic in case something happens.
