The potato came bare, cut in half (unmashed) and topped with plain pulled pork. It was sooo hard when I got down in it. Maybe it was because I got it to-go? The first taste test of just the sauce the beans were in was delicious. The beans sounded like marbles against the container, and they were just as hard when I took a bite. Pretty straightforward bbq joint, you get your meats outside near the smokers (all by the 1/2lb) and then go inside to get your sides/dessert. Went with a half chicken, brisket, sausage, green beans, honey cornbread, and slaw. The slaw had a nice twist to it, it didn't have any mayo, rather vinegar based and also had cilantro in it, was a nice palate cleanser and crunch in-between proteins. High praise for the meats, everything was smoked well. The brisket had a small fat cap which was sliced in the middle, but even the pieces with 0 fat on them, were tender and moist. This is maybe the nicest interior of any BBQ place around, but that doesn't make the food any better. It has all hard surfaces, and even when less than half full, it is really noisy. It's a walk-up and order; they bring it to your table. That sort of service gets no tip from me. There are too many better places in Dallas to revisit this place. read more

I love the the location in Richardson. I decide to go to the one in Dallas off lovers Lane for the first time the way they do. The price of the meat is different than weigh in it. PHENOMENAL experience all around! We brought in a larger group for a bachelor and bachelorette party. There's plenty of space, quick ordering, and the food comes out great! The staff helps pre bus so the table is not full of dishes, refills on your drinks, and just a pleasant experience over all. The pricing was great, and the food was delicious. I hate to give a mediocre review but it is warranted in this instance. I stopped in to have lunch. The loaded potato was pretty good. My beef brisket sandwich was very fatty. I had asked for it lean. I had also asked at the time of my order, to get about a half pound takeout of brisket as well and asked for it also to be lean. I got it for elementary school kid who is very picky about fatty things. I heard the counter call it back to make sure both were lean. I choked down my pretty fatty brisket sandwich. As you can imagine, the supposedly lean brisket I took home wasn't lean. To say my kid wasn't happy would be an understatement. I tried cutting off as much fat as I could but it was really no use and I was left with only about 20% usable meat. Ultimately my child wouldn't touch almost any of it. I dropped $50 for my sandwich, potato and to go brisket. One of the more disappointing dining experience in a long time and an almost total waste of my money but our dog was very happy. My child loves brisket and we probably buy at least a pound or more for her each week. It is our go to meat for her. This far and away was bottom of the pack for our recent brisket experience in our neighborhood. Ambiance was decent too. If they didn't have anything lean, they could have just told me. Everyone else in the area has been able to accommodate this. This could have been an ideal option as they are very close to our house. Not sure if I am willing to go back at this point. Got it to go, so no comments on service or ambiance. I would say solid average. The ribs weren't my favorite, but the brisket was pretty good though. Same with the beans though they're almost more of a charro bean than a bbq baked bean. The potato salad was fine. That said, bbq is subjective so to each their own. read more

$20 for a salad and $6 more to sub brisket for the chicken. they give maybe a little less than an 1/8th of a pound of brisket. not a good deal for $26. also I asked for just 1 torpedo and they stood there going back n forth with each other trying to decide whether they would sell me 1 torpedo. they wouldn't. really weird when I just spent $30 on a salad and tax and a drink. don't come to the Dallas one if you want good service.
