My wife and I dined here on a Thursday night while on tour in Belfast. It was recommended by our…read moretour guide, and we were lucky and got in without a reservation. The ambiance, service and food were all excellent! I ordered the 16 ounce Chateau Briand filet cut, and finished searing the slices on the hot rock at the table just to my liking. The steak was excellent, and the experience was great fun! I paired it with a local Rye River Lil' Bangin' IPA and was very happy! Price was reasonable. My wife had the Chicken Supreme and also greatly enjoyed her meal. We would visit regularly if it was in the States! Will visit again when back in Belfast.

We only had a few days in Belfast and figured why not make one of them a steak night. The concept…read moreat Stix and Stones is somewhat unique. Effectively, you finish your own meats on a hot stone brought to your table. It is great for steak since you have no one to blame but yourself if it ends up over cooked. We decided to go with the 3 course theater option. What a deal! Honestly, I was expecting to drop a lot more cash for a steak dinner and figured they would have to make up for it by providing smaller portions, however, that was not the case. We started with mussels and the goat cheese. Tons of mussels in a tasty white sauce made my day. The goat cheese dish was just ok. We got a steak meal and a tuna for our mains. Loved them both. Then, we opted for an amazing Baked Alaska for dessert - great call and highly recommended. Service was on point. I appreciate how often they checked in, whether to see if we need more drinks or to ensure we were comfortable with our food. They never made us feel rushed nor did they intrude. As I mentioned, the price was well within line of expectations and the special was a deal. They did not skip on overall value at any point of the meal. I am not sure if I'll be back to belfast, but if I am, I will be back to Stix and Stones.

I hate it when restaurants do this, I can understand it for Christmas party bookings, but dislike when deposits are requested throughout the year. It would prevent me from returning with a large party in future. It's just a hassle trying to collect money from people you won't necessarily be seeing before an evening out. Alternatively one person has to cover the deposit before the meal, which is unfair and leaves them out of pocket until the night out. Other than this we had a good overall experience. Waiting staff were excellent and the menu is huge with a vast selection of dishes, even plenty of veggie options - burgers, pizzas, pastas etc. I ordered vegetarian fajitas which were served with a side of fries, 3 fajita pancakes, a large sizzling plate of mixed veg (mushrooms, peppers, onions, tomatoes) plus guacamole, sour cream and salsa. The guacamole and salsa weren't fresh, instead they seemed quite processed. But it was good food - not great - but filling, tasty and reasonable for the price. Our whole party enjoyed their meals. We also ordered dessert and the Banoffee Pie was absolutely gorgeous- though I did have dessert envy when I saw the Nutella Dough Balls some of the others ordered! Ginger, gin, beer and plenty of wine flowed. In total two courses, drinks and tips cost approximately £35 per person. A good night was had by all. This is a nice, casual, relaxed restaurant and I would return - but not with a large party as I dislike the insistence on a deposit and enforced service charge. Whilst I recognise the reasoning for these charges and appreciate they are becoming common in a lot of restaurants, I will primarily take my custom to establishments who don't insist on a deposit. A good, solid 3.5 stars from me...

The waiter/host/bartender was a deterrent from the time we walked in and asked if we had a reservation on a Wednesday night in a mostly-empty restaurant. This was our first clue and when we should've left. It took 10+ minutes to get a drink because he had "other tables to take care of". Asking for water was like pulling teeth. I could go on and on about his service, or lack there of, but I'll refrain. Next was the food. The steak was disgusting at best. Our dogs actually eat better steak than what was served. Totally undercooked, cold and the charred taste was in my mouth for that seemed like hours. Save your money and go to a restaurant that appreciates their patrons.

But my husband does, and I can vouch that each time we've eaten here he says the steak gets better and better. He's had 'The Porterhouse" and the "Rib Eye Fillet" but says he prefers the fillet - but both were lovely and I think it's just personal preference. For those non-meat eaters don't worry there is much to choose from on the menu, they offer daily specials of chicken, fish and vegetarian meals - thier pasta is always beautiful and very filling. The service we've experienced is always lovely, and the decor and lighting are quite soft and romantic, its the perfect place for a first date, or an anniversary. It's really not the sort of place to go to with a large group of friends. It's handy to the city centre, and close to those few nice bars further up the Lisburn Road. They also offer a pre-theatre menu which I'm determined to try out soon!

During the time I visited, it wasn't very packed so I was seated swiftly. The kind staff accommodated my request to get a corner table. The vibe can be describe is a classic. I really enjoyed all the dark stained wood furniture - gave it such an "old Irish saloon" vibe...maybe because it is haha. I did not have much time to spend in Belfast, so I tried to taste as many traditional dishes as possible with being just one person. With that being said, I ordered a few of their notable dishes - Crown Bar Irish Stew, Steak & Ale Pie, and to finish it off, the Sticky Toffee Pudding served with both the custard and ice cream (really thankful the server offered to give me two toppings, and they were both delicious). All the dishes were great, and are definitely hearty. The stew as well as the pie filling had a rich roux - nice, thick and flavorful. I will say, the pie pastry was not as flaky as I would have liked it; kind of too thick. Overall, it was a great taste of Ireland

Being a creature of habit I get the chicken penne pasta, but if you are more adventurous than me the jerk chicken wrap or steak ciabatta are front runners for most people. Whilst the lunch menu provides smaller options at a very decent price, the extensive dinner menu has everything you could want from a steak house. Big portions, cooked to your taste - perfect. My friends stayed here previously and are still raving about how nice it is, I will be recommending for any visitors I have (if they fancy something posher than my sofa). My 21st birthday was imminent, and I required an upmarket, fashionably chic eatery for myself and 9 friends. An easy task you may think, but slightly more daunting than I had initially realised. I didn't want an expensive restaurant, nor did I want a McDonald's-esque diner. It had to be accessible, with the likelihood of entertainment, as well as somewhere just a bit different. Easy woman to please, eh? Having heard rave reviews, I settled on Ten Square's Grill Room, and headed out with the girlies for what was to be a brilliant night out. The food was fabulous, the waitress was the most wonderful server I have ever had, their was a DJ playing from 10pm to midnight, and surroundings were just exquisite. Not one word of complaint from me or my friends what-so-ever. The bar is situated right beside the grill room, and our table was smack bang in the middle of the two, which worked excellently for my friends and I, enabling us to boogie on down til the early hours. This may not suit some people, but for me, it was perfect. I could not have asked for a better 21st birthday do.

Other than that the food did not meet what I would have expected from a famous chefs restaurant. The portions where a decent size. I thought thy many have been super tiny. I found the food quite bland. The food highlight was my Canonbear starter and the bacon and cabbage side. My gnocchi main did not have a real depth of flavour. If you want gnocchi ,Horatio Todds is the place. So I was expecting something that would be better than that as this is a famous chefs place. The beetroot starter also lacked flavour. Have had it other places where it had way more taste. The menu has a decent range. Nice To see Sharon's platters on it and also nibbles for the table. Food took ages to be served. We had been there 2 hours and had just finished our mains. Did not get time for dessert as we had to be somewhere. The place wasn't even busy. The price was ok. But would have expected more flavour for what you are paying. I would not be back here. There is way too much eating establishment choice in East Belfast to waste money and taste buds in here.
