The paved walking paths twist and turn through the woods, making it feel like you're out on a little adventure, even though you're right in the heart of Edmond. What really stood out was how much there is for families. I watched kids racing from one playground to the next, each one built with different age groups in mind. There's even soft turf under the toddler areas--nice touch. Parents lounged at shaded benches while little ones climbed and slid their hearts out.

The story board tells the history. The caboose is in very good shape but the stairs and ladders are removed to keep people from playing on it and possibly getting hurt or damaging something. You can see some pretty greenery in the spring and summer. There's a little stream and a walking bridge that you can go over. There's a dog park for small dogs and big dogs. Sometimes I notice people in the small dog park with large dogs, so we are not able to go in. Little annoying. Most of the people do not pick up their dog's poop along the trail. Good to go for a nice summer day for outdoor activities.

They even placed a pecan sheller for those tht harvest them. The trail winds thru the trees and behind done neighborhoods. This section is approximately 2+ miles and winds along soldier creek. It is fully paved with a slight grade in some areas. It is totally wheelchair accessible. As always just pay attention to your surrounding.

Stanley Draper Lake is located in the SE part of OKC. This is a recreational lake with fishing and…read moreskiing. Note there is no swimming allowed so not sure how tht works with the skiing. This is a full service marina with ramps and docks as well as boat storage. There is a concession stand inside with the basics as well as bail and fishing stuff. There is a very nice playscape area along with picnic tables and grills for use. Just fisherman today and only a few as it was pretty windy and cool.

Was out walking the dog and stopped by this complex to check it out. Looks like a very nice area…read morewith several ball fields and a water play area(also not open). This complex looks like it can handle quite a lot of folks based on the parking areas available. The fields look really nice each having there own concession area. Each concession area covers 4 ball fields with a total of 8 all together. I only noticed one way in and out which could really get frustrating when trying to leave after a long day. Not sure why this is not in use. Seems like they could put this to good use and bring people into the area.

We came to Oklahoma City for the Oklahoma Shoot Out Tournament. They use many fields all over the…read morearea for the tournament. We stayed in Bricktown because it seemed like a central location for all the fields. My GPS said it would take 16 minutes to get there from Bricktown. The Waze app said 30 minutes because of a wreck. Waze rerouted me down a lot of back roads to avoid the interstate that had the wreck on it. So it really seemed like we were out in the boonies. There is little parking. Many people were parking in fields and making their own parking lot. Then they charged $5 per person to get in the complex and a $5 cooler fee. They really nickel and dime you in Oklahoma. Our Texas tournaments do not charge entrance fees. Only the World Series charges gate fees. The complex was just finished in 2016, so it is sparkling new. It has turf in fields, which for my son he doesn't like because he hates to pitch on a portable mound. I'm sure the turf fields are convenient so they don't have to cancel many games because of rain. There is little shade. The only shade is over the bleachers. Even our boys dugout on field one wasn't covered. The other dugout was covered, but not our side. Really didn't make since, because it is a new field. There are NO trees as well, so when I say no shade, there is none.
