Bluff Creek Park trail...get away from the hustle and bustle of life and enjoy some of OKC's beauty!!!

What a beautiful place to take a walk after work. This park is filled with wild life, trees, plants and water. Whether you want to walk, run or bicycle this park can accommodate you. The air is fresh and the trees provide some relief from the heat. Today i was even able to see a couple of deer grazing near the small creek. Try this place when you want to get away and go see some nature without traveling so far. You wont be sorry.

    Looking good, Bluff Creek Park.

I love this area of OKC and Bluff Creek Park is a gem. In the evenings when the sun is setting, you'll see some of the best Oklahoma sunsets while deer are out grazing the land. The park tends to get pretty crowded on nice days. Kids just love it and I've seen a lot of birthday parties thrown here, too. Then, there are the trails and the fact that it is so conveniently located near Lake Hefner. I absolutely love this part of town. People are out and about riding their bikes, going on walks or jogs, and it's just a nice place to take in Mother Nature.

Very nice park with a lot of grassy green space, a modern playground, pavilions for picnicking, looping paths for walking/jogging/running and mountain biking trails. It looks especially nice here in summer when the garden, grasses and forested areas are greened up. My complaints are that the paths and trails could easily be extended, and the pond area is being poorly utilized. Why not make some hike/bike in day camping spots? Place some picnic tables in clearings amongst the trees with bbqs or even fire pits. OKC lacks areas like that, and this park could easily be expanded to something more of a catch-all, like the 'great parks' in Southern California.

This place is so nice for pictures! We originally were going to go to Martin Nature Park, but they don't allow dogs. The entrance into the park is not the best, but once you go into the trails and trees, it makes for some awesome scenery. It also was not crowded at all; there were only a handful of people going through the trails. See the potential in the photos we took of this family and their great dogs!

Such a cute park! There is trails, playground, covered tables, benches, and plenty of open spaces.

This place is awesome for a Sunday BBQ, mountain bike riding, or just a relaxing walk or run! They have a large field, lots of pavement walking trails, and over 3 miles of running/biking trails. To add to it they have cover pavilion seating that you can reserve and have birthday parties, barbecues, graduation banquets anything like that. If you ride the mountain bike course just remembered that you do have to wear a helmet it is required and to bring at least two bottles of water or your favorite sports drink. The mountain bike trail is set up pretty well for beginners intermediate and advanced riders.in the spring time between five and eight the mountain bike trail tends to be pretty busy with avid riders. They also have a children's park there at Pat Murphy Park and it's a great spot to have a birthday party under the covered pavilion, let the kids play on the nice playground equipment or have a picnic next to the playground at one of their patio tables. The playground equipment has been maintained and they have a nice amount of swings and they have two little baby swings also which every Parent loves. I will say on a windy day the woodchips are not fun to be on because they blow right through the air and smack in the face. Ha ha ha ha

Too many dogs. Watch out for the poop. Also don't wear new shoes it's always muddy on the trails.

Very nice park! Only downside is the porta-potty bathroom rather than a built in one but overall it has something for everyone.

Easy parking, you will see the occasional runner or biker here depending on when you come. I did see a group run also! Along with the river, you do get some good views of the OKC skyline here!!

I mean, who wouldn't want to go fast without having to zig-zag in between runners, families or other bikes? The trail is well paved with the occasional slight gravel, which is totally avoidable. The path is somewhat like a large 13 mile oval shape, without any street crossings or stop signs. This would be a perfect spot to train for races. I would not recommend bringing your families on the trail just because road bikers are going fairly fast. Wouldn't want a little one stumbling in front of a bike going 20-30 miles a hour. For the sake of runners, the unseen corners are well marked with caution signs and there are two lanes to avoid collision. Overall it's a beautiful spot, there are geese and some other water fowl and the sun hits the river perfectly. There's a moment where you are riding beside a view of the city as well as the beautiful trail. This is probably the least congested biking trail I've been to in Oklahoma City. I would recommend starting at/ parking at Devon Boathouse at Regatta Park. There's also additional parking across the street. I could see this place being a good spot for group bikers as well, it's not far from Bricktown if you want to ride into the city a little bit to grab a bite to eat.

I discovered Gloss Mountain State Park by driving Highway 412 through Oklahoma. It's a roadside…read morestop that can't be missed. And what stands out about the park are the red and green tones of the surrounding landscape. I had a few extra hours to spare and was intrigued by the colorful valley that I never expected to find traveling the flat plains of Oklahoma. The closest town to Gloss Mountain is Fairview, OK, about 13 miles from downtown. Arriving here, there is no entrance fee. There is no park ranger. It's come and go as you please. Hours are from dawn till dusk every day. There was actually a sign on the entrance gate saying they lock up at 9pm, so maybe keep that in mind because in this part of Oklahoma during summertime, the sun doesn't set till pretty late. Exploring Gloss Mountain is simple and can take 1 hour or up to a few hours to explore depending how detailed a hiker you are. After entering the park, leave your car in the lot and then there's a hiking trail for you to take. It's called Cathedral Mountain Trail leading you directly to the summit plateau of Gloss Mountain. It's 1.2 miles in total including a 150 step climb. The hike is not hard and along the way up there are a few benches to sit down on and take a rest, or look down on the sights below. The views from high above Gloss Mountain are the big highlight. I was really surprised by the scenery. To have this type of rugged setting with red and green colors took me by surprise. You'd never expect it out of anywhere in Oklahoma. Maybe further west if you were randomly guessing on a map, but overall, the overlooks were pleasant. And once at the mesa top, you can follow the pathway around at your own leisure. It's a circular walk covering most of Gloss Mountain. Because...there's a back section to the summit and you're afforded 360 degree panoramas of the terrain. Also, there was a particular plateau called Lone Peak Mountain, that had an impressive appearance in the distance. Eventually the trails ends at a chained fence but you have another opportunity to sit down on a bench and breathe in some fresh Oklahoma air. And if you're following the trail around, you finish things looking at the eastern part of Gloss Mountain. This area had more of a flat, farmland setting. Still, you can always cross back over to the west side which had the better images. Finally, heading down the mountain takes a few minutes. Before returning to your car and back out on Highway 412, there's a short paved path leading to a plaque honoring Gloss Mountain as an official Oklahoma State Park. It's a good last minute photo opp combining the shrine monument and Oklahoma's state flag waving in the background together. Some extra things to say... - There are vault toilets in the parking lot including a random soda machine. - For mid June at 4pm, it was 105 degrees outside and pretty unbearable temperatures. But you just have to mentally block out the heat from your mind, a task easier said than done. - It was windy at the top of Gloss Mountain. I struggled to use my camera stand and had to stop being so obsessed with picture taking and just enjoy nature. - You can pick up a park brochure next to the front entrance which gives an introduction into what you can expect from a visit. Overall, Gloss Mountain State Park was scenic for being such a random roadside pullover off Highway 412 in the middle of Oklahoma. The red and green vista point perspectives provide guests with that special sightseeing factor. In the end, it made the decision for me to stop here and explore for a little while, a rewarding one.
