Hafer Park is the kind of place you don't just visit--you spend the whole day without even realizing it. From the moment I stepped onto the trail, surrounded by tall trees and the sound of birdsong, I knew I'd found a gem. The paved walking paths twist and turn through the woods, making it feel like you're out on a little adventure, even though you're right in the heart of Edmond. What really stood out was how much there is for families. I watched kids racing from one playground to the next, each one built with different age groups in mind. There's even soft turf under the toddler areas--nice touch. Parents lounged at shaded benches while little ones climbed and slid their hearts out. read more

I've been to this park many times before but didn't realize until today that it has great playground areas for toddlers with fake grass and safe equipment! I can sit and watch and know he's safe or interact with him. I love it! read more

Such a great place for outdoor pictures and photo ops. Lots of trails if you're looking to walk your pooch or take a walk. Good for outdoor training since the trails curve and there is a little bit of elevation here and there. Very well kept for a city park and decent parking. read more

Hafer Park has been a favorite of mine since I was in middle school many more years than I care to admit. I always enjoyed going for walks with friends, picnics with social groups and seeing Shakespeare in the Park. Now I enjoy going to practice photography with friends, watching little league games and hearing live music. I was recently surprised to see my friend's dad on the stage. On occasion I have stumbled upon kids selling snocones, perfect treat as you listen to some bluegrass. There is something for everyone at Hafer. Usually there is plenty of parking and places where you can be away from masses of people if you want to have a moment of quiet to yourself. This is a great little park! It has plenty of walking paths, lots of shade trees and greenery, and spring flowers. And it's clean..well, besides all the goose poop. It's just a nice place to take the dogs and the kids and go bird watching or do some nature photography after a picnic. Families of cardinals make this park home, while hawks patrol overhead. I like its centrally location and ease of access. It has a handful of pavillions and even more tables for summer birthdays and picnics. Grassy areas are smaller here than some parks, but the kiddies love the climbing wall and multiple playground areas. The beautiful pond at the end of the road is overflowing with geese and ducks to feed stale bread to AND stocked with game fish. Great for family fishing, perfect pond for kids and beginners. It is surrounded by benches, very relaxing. Parking is the only thing that can get hairy on busy days. I would say it's a nice place to get away from the hustle and bustle, if you don't mind the 100 other people doing the same. But it is a small slice of nature right off of main street. My hubbie and I love to take day trips with our dog, Oreo. One of our favorite day-cations is a trip to Edmond, OK. Besides all the fun shops (including a scrapbook store or two), it also offers one of my favorite walking trails - Hafer Park. The nice thing about this park is that it is mostly shaded. You can walk from one to two miles by following the trails around the park. There is a beautiful pond where Oreo likes to say hello to the wild geese and ducks. Last time we were there, there was a wedding going on in the gazebo. Take a picnic lunch or just take a walk. One of the most relaxing parks in Oklahoma! I will try to post some photos. read more

Hafer Park is the prettiest local spot I've found to walk around since moving to Oklahoma. I have to admit, I miss Venice Beach a lot... No more stepping outside my apartment into sand and walking along the ocean to the Santa Monica Pier at night. Sigh. That being said, Hafer Park is pretty. There's an interesting art/activity installation in the form of a giant cylinder where you are challenged to rock climb all the way around without falling off. There's also a giant duck pond with a mixture of friendly and aggressive ducks that advertises itself as a fishing pond for children under 12. Lots of lovely wooded trails to walk around and explore. I wish it was within walking/biking distance, but it doesn't appear much of anything in Oklahoma is. Walking the trails around Hafer Park is definitely worth getting into a car for! read more

Beautiful park in Edmond that will get your dog to exercise. The people here are very responsible with their pets, all of them have been on leashes from what I have seen. My dog loves coming here, so many smells and trails for him to explore. A great place to get your cardio in or just sit back in front of the lake and fountain and zen out. read more

This is a great park in the Edmond area. There are many places to have a nice shaded picnic and to hang up your Hammock and relax. There are two different play parks for the kids, a smaller older one and a very nice newer one. The newer one has lots of areas to climb for the littles. There is also a small cement "tower" they have created for a climbing wall. The trail around the park is a nice paved hiking trail. It's about a mile and along the the trail there is a nice workout area for those of you that like to run and circuit train. The small lake area has a lot of ducks and geese...not a bad thing...just watch where you step! read more

Hafer park is without a doubt the best Park in the OKC metro area. There is a wonderful walking trail enclosed with overhanging trees where you are guaranteed to see some small wildlife. As you exit the trail there is a small duck pond stocked with fish for children 12 an under. As well as several cozy picnicking spots and larger gazebos for partys. There are also three separate playing areas with swings, slides and plenty of monkey bars. read more

Great little city park with lots of tree shade and playground areas! Small incline on the trail which is a nice change of pace and scenery for runners in this town. Path is a bit narrow, but plenty of beautiful wildlife for Merlin, the schnauzer, to chase and taunt. Love this little city park! read more

This is a fantastic park, and it is great for all ages. There is plenty of space to play field games. There are running trails and playgrounds. There is also a great pond with ducks one can visit on calm afternoons. I've spent many hours reading here, doing homework outside, and going for walks on the trails. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. read more

This is the best park in Edmond. Lots of room to enjoy even when it is busy. There is a nice pond and walking trails. Several pavilions are available to rent and can fit larger occasions. Lots of shade trees as well and multiple play areas for children. read more

Restrooms were heated so that's a plus considering it was 40 degrees for our baseball tournament. The problem is when you have teenagers in charge of replacing toilet paper only. 2 of the 5 or 6 toilets were not working, trash cans in each toilet had not been emptied all weekend, soap dispensers were completely empty. The restrooms were gross and dirty by then end of day one of Tournament. This may be the norm for all baseball parks, but that doesn't make it a good practice!! read more

Man I love this place. It has really nice trails that go all throughout the park and they have a number of trails to keep the variety when running. The playgrounds are nice for children and the duck lake is a great place to stretch in the middle of a run. There is ample parking and tables for picnicking. They even have a small rock-climbing (bouldering) wall for children. Plus it is not very crowded. Overall, definitely one of my favorite parks to go to. read more

This place made a lot of baseball memories for me, back in the day. I remember specifically, getting those Topps baseball cards, mostly for the gum. And lots of baseball teams. I don't know who Mr. or Mrs. Hafer was, but the park sure gave a lot of kids something to do and it was a great community park. I wonder what it's like today? This is a beautiful park to go to with options for everyone. The trails are great for exercise or to take a nature walk. I saw three playgrounds and a climbing wall for kids of various ages to enjoy. A group of middle school kids seemed to really enjoy the sliding hang glide. The park also has a bench swing which I thought was pretty cool. The duck pond is beautiful to sit and look at. There is also a stage that my daughter used to put on a stage for me. We also looked at the interesting tree trunks and found fairy homes. It was a fun day out in nature. The only thing I wasn't expecting was to see the bathroom not well maintained, the women's door was unmarked so I figured out which one it was by process of elimination when I walked around and saw the men's door, the faucet looked broken so I was surprised when water came out, there was no soap and the bathroom door wouldn't lock. I am glad they had a bathroom instead of port-a-potties, and I've seen some horrible park bathrooms I just expected more from a beautiful park in Edmond. read more

I've been looking for a pretty park with good walking trails since moving to the OKC area. This is definitely it! It has beautiful landscaping, loads of shade trees and a tangle of trails that I haven't explored yet. I took my old dog here to try out her new wheelchair, thinking that a new place to walk would be interesting for her and get her motivated. Well, it did that and more. She took off and I had to run to keep up with her! I've only been there once so far, but will certainly be back many times. I noticed the ball fields and horse shoe area plus the duck pond and water park. It really looks great and I'm glad to have found it. read more
