It shouldn't be closed for a week for the 4th of July and it should be completely cleaned of all debris from the fireworks when it reopens, closing it for other activities limits the time when people are able to use the park for jogging or walking their dogs and I don't think that is right especially if that is something that the park was put there for.

Lots of traffic so pay attn. I wandered around the park. There were geese everywhere. The grounds are in really good shape for things being dormant. It is pretty much fenced in for safer with numerous different play areas and plays scapes. There are real grass areas as well as turfed areas with man made hills for the kids to play on. Plenty of seating areas for relaxing, picnics or other family fun. It is very well maintained. You can access it from a 360 degree road surrounding the park. Real nice addition to the area. It sets just on the edge of one of the original neighborhoods and is called the "OM" Original mile of MWC.

The host had everything circled on the contract so my fellow committee member signed it, then we began setting up. Our rental started 15 mins after the designated time they had us arrive. No one had cleaned, disinfected, mopped or made any effort to prepare for a 7 hr event. At $60 and hour we asked for 2 hrs refund due to having to clean up their mess, & later a water spill from their AC unit in the entry way. Ms. Morgan was rude when I talked with her, knowing the pics I'd sent clearly showed lack of professionalism on her part. We found a huge pile of nasty dead (& a few live bugs) in a corner where the chairs & tables take up space. Also around the room we found that it had not been swept, it certainly hadn't been mopped. Airborne illnesses are still a problem in today's world, so it makes no sense to rent a filthy facility to anyone! We had to cut our event short & clean up since people began to leave. I was so disappointed with all the work we'd put into planning, then to be treated like we just didn't matter. We signed in good faith, believing the place was cleaned, at a minimum. That was not the case.

There's wildlife to see such as squirrels and birds, and you can even see some turtles in the little stream. A lot of people like to go walking early in the morning because it's a lot cooler and I would agree with that. There's ample parking in multiple lots. There's also two dog parks one for small dogs and one for larger dogs. Everyone usually abides by all the dog rules, except I do notice dog poop along the walking trail sometimes and people are leaving it and not picking it up. Walking through the trees is really nice. There's a couple benches along the way so if you get tired, wanna sit down, you can do so. On the other side of the park near the swimming pool there are basketball courts and tennis courts. They have children's play areas as well.

The parking area is nice, although it's somewhat confusing the first time with no real signs. The paths are great with smooth sidewalks. It's a wooded area which makes you feel as though you aren't really in the middle of a town. I love the pavillion at the entrance. It's perfect for a break or to sit and enjoy nature whilst eating lunch.

Sometimes trees are nice, but I like that this park has many open expanses for kids to run and play in a very safe space. Softball, basketball and soccer areas are here also - though I don't know much about reserving them or anything. There are a few different playground areas, and admittedly, these could use some updating, but I think there are lots of places with splash pads and new playground equipment - what Eldon Lyon provides is room, and lots of it. In a time when parents feel they can't just let their kids roam free in the neighborhoods and the creek beds of our youth, this park helps address that need. I love the two mile trail that loops around and sometimes through the entire park, the nice picnic areas, and people watching.

The walk around the park is nice and flat and there are even distance markers so you know how far you've gone. There are several ares with many picnic tables. There are two playground areas for kids and several wide open fields. These fields would be great for getting together with friends and playing ultimate, kickball, or soccer if they were not full of stickers that will cover your socks and shoes if you walk through them. Overall, if you need a good afternoon walk or a shaded playground for the kids, I would recommend this park.
