Scheduling my appointment was quick and easy; Destiny was absolutely wonderful and offered premier customer service! The technician arrived a little early for the appointment time which was great with my busy schedule that day. He was warm and friendly, and the check-up didn't take as long as I expected. After the check-up he walked me through and explained everything he checked and the condition of my HVAC unit, coils, and more. I felt comfortable that I chose the right company. During the closing of my house, the buyers continued to tell me they felt like there was something wrong with the a/c and wanted me to either replace the 5 year old unit, or reduce my selling price by $6,500 although the unit was cooling perfectly. To satisfy the buyers, Hobgood came out early again on a Saturday to check the unit with the buyers present; Robert at Hobgood inspected the HVAC again and told the buyers the unit was just fine. Later the following week, I received an invoice from the buyer's realtor for over $6,000 from Hobgood to replace the entire unit. The realtor told me that the coils, HVAC, and many other things needed to be replaced and the buyers wanted the that amount reduced off of the sales price or else they were going to cancel the contract. Confused by the entire situation, I called Hobgood and spoke with Destiny, who immediately called Robert to figure out what was really going on with my HVAC... Apparently, Robert told the buyers the HVAC system was just fine, then the buyers asked Robert to send them an invoice for the full price "Just incase" the complete HVAC system ever needed to be replaced. Then, the buyers sent that same invoice to me to demand a reduction of my sales price stating the unit had many problems. Upset, I immediately called the buyer's Realtor and told her what I learned from Hobgood and that I was not lowering my price one cent, I told her that they could cancel their contract if they wanted to because they were being so very shady in trying to get me to drop the price from day one. Needless to say, the buyers did cancel the contract since I refused to drop my sales price. My house did end up selling the very next month and the final buyers had absolutely no issues with the HVAC. Thanks to the honest business practices at Hobgood Mechanical, I ended up saving over $6,000 on the sale of my house. Very disappointed with Select Heating and Air of Creedmoor…read more I've had a maintenance contract with this company for almost 10 years and have even purchased two brand new HVAC units from them. During a recent preventative maintenance appointment, I discovered my main HVAC was covered in cobwebs, leaves and pine needles after the tech said the job was completed. When I asked about cleaning -- which is clearly stated in my contract -- the tech told me they only do that in the spring. The contract also says motors and bearings are greased each visit, but the tech said that's only done once a unit starts making noise. This made me dig into my maintenance plan even further and I learned that my mini split hasn't been serviced in years, even though I've been charged annually. I've stopped by the office four times in the past week and requested a call from the owner, but he's never available and hasn't returned my calls even after the secretary said that he's been given the message on several occasions. . That hardly sounds like preventative maintenance and is a far cry from what's written in the contract. This experience shows a serious lack of honesty, follow-through, and customer care. If you're considering a maintenance plan with this company, confirm that the work is actually being done.

To replace my old HVAC system, I hired Santa Air to put in a SEER 17 Trane XR17, at a cost of…read more$16,327 (including furnace). The AC part of the installation has now failed 3 times. On May 31, the system quit (blank thermostat). Santa Air does not work weekend, so we were without AC until a tech came on Monday. He said that there was a loose wire that he reconnected and now it worked. On June 18th, same failure. Again, no tech on the weekend so wait until Monday. Tech stated that it was a furnace switch somehow affecting the AC unit, and replaced it. Then Aug 13th, same thing, black thermostat, no power. Luckily this was a Thursday, and the tech came on Friday. He tells me that there was a leveling problem with the drainpipe and the water backed up and hit a kill switch. He admitted this was probably the cause all along, and they had misdiagnosed. At this point, I asked to speak to the owner so that I could complain about 3 breakdowns in three months in the summer. Maggie is the person who answers phones and directs techs. When I asked to speak to the owner, she wouldn't tell me who it was or let me speak to him or her (if you go to the Secretary of State website, you'll find multiple filings. So either John Tran, or Duy Pham, or My Nguyen own it). Alas, at this point my only recourse is to leave a review for others to see what has been happening. I hope the tech is correct this time, but I have no reason to have confidence in that opinion. Clearly, if it breaks again, all I can do is report the company to the NC Board of Plumbing and Heating and to the NC AG for Consumer Protection.

The panel has been in the sun since the house was built. Terrible customer service and it seems like they aren't sure what they are doing. I wouldn't recommend. I also had Dave look at my upstairs attic furnace and they fixed the shoddy work that my home warranty company performed 1 year earlier. Come spring I had Dave come out and look at my AC units which the was the oldest unit and was not keeping it at the low temperature we wanted. He looked at it and had to add 2 lbs. to the unit and said it had a slow leak in it, but it did not need replacement just yet, maybe in about 2 or 3 years. Dave was on time and fixed everything that needed to be fix and explained the health of both furnaces and AC units. Good work and trust in a company is hard to come by.
