I…read morewas a For Sale By Owner, and wanted to make sure I had checks & balances and that everything was in order for the sale. Scheduling my appointment was quick and easy; Destiny was absolutely wonderful and offered premier customer service! The technician arrived a little early for the appointment time which was great with my busy schedule that day. He was warm and friendly, and the check-up didn't take as long as I expected. After the check-up he walked me through and explained everything he checked and the condition of my HVAC unit, coils, and more. I felt comfortable that I chose the right company. During the closing of my house, the buyers continued to tell me they felt like there was something wrong with the a/c and wanted me to either replace the 5 year old unit, or reduce my selling price by $6,500 although the unit was cooling perfectly. To satisfy the buyers, Hobgood came out early again on a Saturday to check the unit with the buyers present; Robert at Hobgood inspected the HVAC again and told the buyers the unit was just fine. Later the following week, I received an invoice from the buyer's realtor for over $6,000 from Hobgood to replace the entire unit. The realtor told me that the coils, HVAC, and many other things needed to be replaced and the buyers wanted the that amount reduced off of the sales price or else they were going to cancel the contract. Confused by the entire situation, I called Hobgood and spoke with Destiny, who immediately called Robert to figure out what was really going on with my HVAC... Apparently, Robert told the buyers the HVAC system was just fine, then the buyers asked Robert to send them an invoice for the full price "Just incase" the complete HVAC system ever needed to be replaced. Then, the buyers sent that same invoice to me to demand a reduction of my sales price stating the unit had many problems. Upset, I immediately called the buyer's Realtor and told her what I learned from Hobgood and that I was not lowering my price one cent, I told her that they could cancel their contract if they wanted to because they were being so very shady in trying to get me to drop the price from day one. Needless to say, the buyers did cancel the contract since I refused to drop my sales price. My house did end up selling the very next month and the final buyers had absolutely no issues with the HVAC. Thanks to the honest business practices at Hobgood Mechanical, I ended up saving over $6,000 on the sale of my house. If you're looking for a company that is honest, has integrity, offers premier customer service, has competitive rates, and is conveniently located in Creedmoor, I highly recommend Hobgood to everyone! Thanks for everything Hobgood Mechanical!

Very disappointed with Select Heating and Air of Creedmoor…read more I've had a maintenance contract with this company for almost 10 years and have even purchased two brand new HVAC units from them. During a recent preventative maintenance appointment, I discovered my main HVAC was covered in cobwebs, leaves and pine needles after the tech said the job was completed. When I asked about cleaning -- which is clearly stated in my contract -- the tech told me they only do that in the spring. The contract also says motors and bearings are greased each visit, but the tech said that's only done once a unit starts making noise. This made me dig into my maintenance plan even further and I learned that my mini split hasn't been serviced in years, even though I've been charged annually. I've stopped by the office four times in the past week and requested a call from the owner, but he's never available and hasn't returned my calls even after the secretary said that he's been given the message on several occasions. . That hardly sounds like preventative maintenance and is a far cry from what's written in the contract. This experience shows a serious lack of honesty, follow-through, and customer care. If you're considering a maintenance plan with this company, confirm that the work is actually being done.

Warning: Review Coercion & $1,100+ Pricing Discrepancy…read more I used Santa Air for five years and recommended them to many friends. Unfortunately, their business model has changed from "honest and hardworking" to "opaque and manipulative." The Technical Issues: In 2020, Santa Air installed my trane system but failed to properly connect the emergency heat strips. I spent five winters wondering why my house wouldn't stay warm below 30°F. They missed this mistake during every subsequent maintenance visit over the 5 years. Recently, they tried to charge me $1,700 for repairs I didn't need. A second opinion confirmed their diagnosis was wrong; that technician fixed Santa Air's original installation mistake and the actual sensor issue for a total of $575. The Billing Issues: Their current pricing "tiers" (Bronze, Silver, Gold) are incredibly over-inflated compared to other local HVAC companies. And if you only need a repair included in the Gold tier, you have to pay for all the things you don't need in the tiers below it. When I realized the invoice was vague and the work wasn't needed, I cancelled. The Ethics Issue: The most disappointing part was the office's response. They tried to emotionally guilt-trip me. They held my refund hostage, telling me they would only return my money if I removed my negative reviews. I refused to be coerced and had to fight for three months through my bank to recover the funds for services never rendered. Don't let the high star rating fool you--they are actively pressuring customers to delete bad experiences. Always get a second opinion!!!

Greers Service Company - David Greer

Several years ago, Greer's came out to perform maintenance on my HVAC system and I was highly…read moreimpressed with the honesty and candor of the gentleman (Mike) who performed the work. This Winter I had an issue with my furnace and could not remember the name of the company that had previously impressed me, so I turned to the omnipotent Google to help me figure it out. A search of trustworthy, family owned HVAC companies turned up the standard results without distinction and I selected one that I thought was Greer's without recalling the name. Long story short, they came out, made a 1 minute repair (literally flipped a switch), and then proceeded to share the news of imminent doom related to my HVAC system. Within 30 minutes of the Tech providing the news of my rapidly approaching need for a stockpile of extra blankets and the hiring of a full time lumberjack to supply all the firewood I was going to need, I had the full attention of a "Supervisor" who magically appeared at my home to provide an official quote for a new furnace. I was so thankful for their incredible sleuthing skills which were sure to save me from a future of suffering in an Antarctic-like frozen tundra of a home, I immediately agreed to purchase the proposed upgraded replacement system right there on the spot. Crisis averted and warmth was a continued guarantee for my future. In reality, I simply said Thank You, I will discuss with the spousal unit - have a good day. Or some similar BS to attempt to get them to leave. Of course, they stuck around and tried to "sell me" on the spot with horrific tales of emergency repair prices during the Winter season and all that awesomeness. Yada, yada, yada, they were sent on their way and I retreated to my comfy chair to ponder whether or not I should order a Jersey Mike's sub or not. AND my system continued to work with no issues whatsoever and full warmth and comfort were enjoyed by all throughout Winter. Anyway, I somehow finally figured out the proper name of the company I wanted originally in March and called Greer's for a second opinion for reassurance that my system was indeed OK for the Spring. A day or so later, Dave Greer and son (David?) arrived to provide the system inspection. Dave basically said that the system was in good shape for a few more years, might need a replacement part or two in the next year or so, and could use some maintenance. Wow, no gloom and doom forecast. No up-sell. No tricks. Nothing but honesty and frank assessments. In fact, I had been toying with the idea of replacing the entire HVAC system and he informed me that it was not necessary at this time. Most HVAC companies would take full advantage of me if I indicated I wanted to replace the entire system even though it was not needed, but Greer's was honest and forthcoming and did the right thing. Very much appreciated. Regardless of Dave's professional opinion, I still wanted to replace the entire system because I am just wasteful and irresponsible with my finances. Actually, since it was approximately 15 years old, and I wanted the system to be in great shape when I plan to sell my house in the next 3-5 years, and I did not want to deal with repairs and unexpected HVAC expenses while in the home, and I am just stubborn when I make a decision...I pushed for a whole system replacement quote. Good idea? Who knows, but somebody is going to own a plush house with darn good infrastructure in the next few years by the time I am finished and I will be living at 9000' in the middle of the Colorado Rocky Mountains where AC is not needed. but a snowmobile is. In the end, Mike from Greer's and his crew performed an excellent install of a completely new HVAC system (furnace, condensing unit, evaporator coil, refrigerant lines, rigid ducts, expansion boxes, flex ducts, extra insulation and mastic sealant at every connection and vent - approximately 30 vents and 3 returns). I also received a 10 year parts and labor warranty on the entire system. Mike and his Team were extremely punctual, completed work ahead of time and cleaned up all areas very well. I highly recommend Greer's for any type of maintenance or system upgrade, replacement or new installation and I definitely recommend asking for Mike. He was indeed the gentleman that came to perform the maintenance years ago that impressed me so much with his honesty and candor and the actual reason I remembered the experience and requested Greer's in the first place. I feel fortunate to have had him perform the work on our home. His attention to detail and obvious efforts above and beyond the norm are extremely appreciated and provide a confidence of a quality installation that I seldom experience when working with any industry.

I also had Dave look at my upstairs attic furnace and they fixed the shoddy work that my home warranty company performed 1 year earlier. Come spring I had Dave come out and look at my AC units which the was the oldest unit and was not keeping it at the low temperature we wanted. He looked at it and had to add 2 lbs. to the unit and said it had a slow leak in it, but it did not need replacement just yet, maybe in about 2 or 3 years. Dave was on time and fixed everything that needed to be fix and explained the health of both furnaces and AC units. Good work and trust in a company is hard to come by.
