I had never been to a comedy show before. Ordered my ticket online and it automatically bumped me to the latest showing of the comedian due to how fast they sold out. The managers gave me a seat for the showing I intended on going to. They personally walked me in and showed me to my seat after showing me around the place. I haven't been treated so nicely in a VERY long time. I felt I should have changed into something formal instead of coming straight from work, yet I was treated as if I were a highly valued customer. it was an amazing experience!! Personal thanks to Chad for making it an amazing first time show and it was a hilarious show...except for the 2nd comedian. she was a local amateur and tried too hard. not funny. Everything else was amazing! Fast service, great looking staff and courtesy beyond measure! You have my business from here on out!! read more

Good times at the Improv. Table service was a little weak but i was there to laugh, not eat/drink. So yeah...

This club is what you make it. I've read horrible reviews about the Tempe Improv but our experience is always great! Yeah the servers aren't at your beck & call but they're super busy...gotta be patient! I suggest to having a few drinks before you go so your not so uptight:) read more

Food is killer good buddy! It was awesome seeing @ComedianBobMarley. Tempe improve whooped ass on the wanna be hecklers! Awesome time! Best 200 I spent in a long time! Got super drunk, and ate some food. read more

I went and saw Norm Macdonald and he killed it. Drinks are pricey but tickets are cheap so deal with it. 10/10 would go again

Love the comics and large seating area. Service is great BUT the drinks are WAAAAAY over priced. I paid $39 for two vodka waters?!? I will go back for the show but not spending A DIME Inside. read more

Wow this place was great, I loved everything about it. I really loved the service and the comedians were hilarious(we saw bill Bellamy and co). Our server was jacob(surprisingly great hair). And Christian was chill too, straight upon fleek. read more

We go there about once a month approx n it's always a good experience, they have a great variety of good food and good venues on most nights. We arrived late one night because of an ASU game and they comped us some drinks and another show that same night! We were very pleased with they handled it all even though we didn't ask them! read more

I have been to all the comedy clubs in the valley and The Improv is the best! Parking is free, food portions are huge, the staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Overall the atmosphere of the club is exciting and homie. Not to mention they only host the best comedians. read more

I have been here twice now, once to see Michael Ian Black and the second time was for New Years Eve with Kevin Nealon. Its a pretty decent comedy club, although I have only been to one other. I give it four stars because I got to meet Kevin Nealon and shake his hand. The first time we were there we had a side table for two, which seemed to be a pretty prime seating arrangement. The nachos I had both times were excellent and went well with the Heineken's. If you're looking for something different to do I would recommend it. Just make sure to use proper etiquette. There was one guy who didn't understand that the rest of us were there to see the people on stage and not him. No worries though, Michael Ian Black took care of him with some choice words. read more

A lot of people complain about drink prices, but tickets are usually well priced for night out of comedy and they need to pay the bills somehow. Stick to beer and you can make it out for less than 30 bucks. You get to be really close to well known comedians. My one gripe with the venue is seating is very tight. As in the menu they give you is the size of the table you and your date or a stranger get to share. read more

I can assure you the five stars is not because of our waiter tonight. The acts were great. Love going here to see comedy shows. However the waiter left a little more than something to be desired. He talked us into the unlimited sodas telling us it's cheaper than getting two drinks. He brought us our two sprites and then I was hardly able to waive him down to give him the paper you can fill out with your information, although I saw him a time or two. Then I was more than halfway thru my sprite and he was no where to be found. I kept drinking figuring he would bring us another. He never did. I honestly kept looking for him. But he didn't show up until he brought the bill. And it was for $27.43!!!!!!!! $3+ of that was the already added gratuity. That's $3 he didn't earn!! As he handed it to me I said to him "you never even brought us another drink!" He told me he was always around and he watched our drinks but didn't want to bother us and we never asked for another....I was completely appalled because then he said "well, it is a two drink minimum anyway so...." Then he offered to bring us both another sprite. Even though it was the end of the show basically! At this point I still hadn't looked at the bill and I was already upset that he had made himself scarce and had tricked us. Then I saw the amount and lost it! Who pays $27 for 2 sprites? And they were supposed to be unlimited because he said that was the best way to go. And he said he would check back in with us but as I said he never did! I went and spoke with a manager then because I felt played. The manager agreed that it sounded like he had ripped us off and offered to take care of the bill for us and then gave me his managers card and told me to email him and we would be given free tickets to another show. I feel that Tempe Improv doesn't deserve to have less than 5 stars despite this bad waiter who didn't do his job! We will be back no matter what. Just hope to not come across this waiter again. read more

My fiancé was in town and we decided to of see Bill Bellamy a couple of weekends ago and we had wonderful service from Isabel. She was very friendly and gave great recommendations for food options. We had wings as an appetizer I had the shrimp pasta while my fiancé had the steak salad. We have been to comedy clubs in the past so the 2 drink minimum was no surprise, and we certainly surpassed that limit easily. She recommended their DOD and kept our drinks coming. Bill was HILARIOUS. I never saw him before but always heard great things, and boy were my friends right. I was dragged onto the stage and was given a rose and showed off some of my moves. It was a perfect date night and one that we'll never forget, and definitely not our last at the Tempe Improv! read more

Haven't been in years. Went for a friend's birthday and we enjoyed our night. The layout of tables is a HOT mess. There has to be a better way to configure the tables. I don't mind sharing or the closeness of the crowd but my neck was super sore when we left. We weren't in front of the stage, which was fine, but geeze, fix the tables to suit your patrons. Our waitress was ok, she disappeared at one point during the show and part of the order was messed up when she came back. So she returned with free shots, which was nice. Things happen, I get it, and she did well by acknowledging the mistake and moving on. ..2 drink minimum is typical, I was fine with that, I just think the layout of tables needs some work!.. did I mention the tables??? Haha.. thanks for a great evening though! read more

The show was good and the ticket price was reasonable, but the seating is horrible, very uncomfortable , poorly laid out and no personal space, worse than stadium seating . The 2 drink min. is a joke as the drinks are way overpriced. Just not a good atmosphere, mainly due to the seating and overpriced drinks. Wont be going back! read more

A lot of my favorite comedians come to the Improv...and I'm usually sitting right up front laughing my face off!!!! :D

I've never written a review before. But I paid $55 for 2 tickets to show up to the show and then be packed into a small area like sardines. The guy next to my husband took over our table with his arms. I mean there's literally no room for you to get up out of your seat, your all up on a random person you don't know. There's no way to be able to eat without touching the person next to you. And the group the place set us next to was not thrilled that we were seated there. It just seem impossible to be able to enjoy anything there. read more

We saw Jeff Dye - who was absolutely fantastic. He was a total pro. Funny from beginning to end. I know the reason I come to the Improv is for the comic, and I don't expect a great experience otherwise. We did have some snacks, and they were good - surprisingly good. Our waiter was pretty good. It was hot out, and I was so thirsty, but they wouldn't bring me a glass of water until they served the entire room water, and then it was in plastic cups. We got bottle service, so bringing me a glass of water wasn't going to change our bill total at all. But anyway - I lived through all of that. My big complaint and sole reason for a loss of star is that our table was set so my back was to the stage. And when the show started we turned our chairs around so we had our backs fully towards our friends that we came with. I not only was worried about blocking their view (which I did) but I kept flipping my head around so I could experience the jokes with my friends, but even with me trying to go back and forth, it didn't work. When I've been before our tables have all been perpendicular to the stage, so I can see the comedian and see my friends' reactions to the joke. Next time I go, I will insist sitting in a north-south table instead of an east-west table. Much more fun. read more

This is a fantastic place for your first stand up event. They have a New Faces of Comedy show every two weeks. The crowd is very supportive and the hosts are wonderful. The employee's are very kind yet stern on the two drink minimum. The drink are a bit on the heavy side, which is good for your wallet. read more

Always a good time, but yes there is a too drink minimum and yes you will pay too much for the drinks. This is still (even with that) always a good time and well worth the cost. Come mentally prepared to add $20- $30 per person and just enjoy it! Live comedy is the best! read more

Fun place, two drink minimum doesn't bother me in the least as they have fair priced shot specials and beer. Food is good and comedians are top notch. read more

Gee Wiz I went here and it was a blast plus my server Jen was the best! I recommend anybody come and check it out

Jacob, our sever was awesome! Friendly, on point, professional and funny! It was perfect. Thanks Jacob!!!

Went to tempe improv tonight. We have gone here several times . I like the fact that it's affordable. We have seen several really talented comedians here . The seating is great . Coin toss on the servers. We have had some great servers and tonight was just ok. She was nice but we couldn't find her several times and she didn't come check to see if we wanted anything else. My biggest complaint is that there is a two drink minimum. But I highly recommend this to anyone who loves comedy. The place is always clean and management is very friendly. read more

A little late posting this, but on Thursday we had Cisco serving us and he was the best! Got our drinks out super fast, and made sure we had everything we needed! read more

Jacob the bartender was very courteous and took care of me. I wouldn't consider myself a baller, but for one small moment, this great haired bartender(seriously though it's great) made me feel like a baller, and that's a pretty baller move in itself. I owe him everything for that night I saw Jeff ross, at the Tempe improv, for real. read more

I may forget the comedian we saw, but will not forget the great customer service. Starting with the cashiers who discovered my account and had a credit that covered our tickets to the bartender Collin who was willing to take the time to engage us in conversation besides making great drinks. Congrats to the Manager Chad for training and supporting a great team. We will be back soon! read more

The Tempe improv was great!!!! David from full house was the comedian. He gave us some good laughs. We came in on the guest list and were seated right near the stage. The improv made some wonderful changes.Food menu had a variety. The drinks were costly with very little alcohol. I guess that was ok in some cases. There is a bit of waiting before the actual comedian comes out,But it just gave time to order and such. The only thing i would request is a larger table. It hardly held our drinks. But being a guest the improv gave great service. And we will be back! Thanks again,Laura Tracy Brandon, read more

I liked the food, the comedians, the look of the place.. .but it smelled horrible, like stale beer and garbage and gross feet. The smell was really distracting :( read more

With so many people and Iimited servers, service is slow at times. Francisco was our server and he ROCKS. Beer never went dry. Food was good. It is pricy but it is better than staying home read more

This is a great venue for seeing the best stand up comedians working today. Even the opening acts are often better than most other clubs' headliners. The Sunday shows are awesome because there's only one show and the comedian can pull out all the stops. In addition, the staff can give more personalized attention because the crowd is smaller. We received great service from Jennifer and I'll try to get her section the next time time we go. She knows what she's doing and does it very well. As an aside, i have some advice for management: It is probably NOT a good Idea to give performers shots of tequila during their set, even if they happen to own the brand they're drinking and promoting. It certainly didn't help Alex Reymundo's show. The first half of his set was hilarious but then he started humorlessly self promoting his tequila brand and things went downhill pretty fast. He actually stopped his set three times to ask for shots! The 3rd time they gave him two shots-- presumably so he wouldn't ask again. Sorry Alex but, IMHO, a tongue-tied, glassy-eyed, drunk comedian isn't all that funny. To be fair, I've never seen this happen before so I'll just consider it a fluke and look forward to the next show I see at the Improv. read more

Serious improvement since reopening. The service was spot on, the food was better and the place seemed to be cleaner. Im not sure if they re-arranged the tables but it also seemed bigger. The bar next store was open on a temporary basis. That bar looked amazing with a long outside balcony overlooking university drive. We ordered a few drinks, had good service and then went on our way. Made me think that a comedy show followed up by the bar would make a great night. Will definitely do it again soon. read more

Tonight was awesome at the Tempe improv. Hung out with wife Penny and friend Emily and Mauricio. The headliner was Chris Porter and the other two comedians were short bus and Andy Steinberg. Our server was Rachel who was absolutely awesome will be definitely coming back here again for some more comedy. Had an awesome time. Thank you Tempe improv. Nothing like an awesome night of comedy. read more

Anthony was a fantastic server!! Recommended awesome drinks! Pineapple express is where it's at

I came out to the improv yesterday to see a comedy show, the comics were locals and they did great. My server Jacob did an outstanding job taking care of me and my crew. I also was only having a decent time until I saw the mane on this guy, I mean talk about rinse and repeat. I was only going to give 4 stars until I saw his hair, 5 stars for sure. read more

I saw a show with my girlfriend yesterday for a lovely evening out. We wanted to have a amazing dinner, few drinks, and watch a good comedy show. Our server Matt was the best server anybody could ever ask for. The nicest server I had in a long time. He was very quick and got us everything we needed. We will for sure be back! read more

Decent comics, staff, and setting for a comedy club BUT ridiculously overpriced. This is relatively normal in these sorts of businesses, but this place is outrageous. If you think you'll save a couple bucks by drinking soda as opposed to alcohol, you are wrong. Seriously, ask for prices before you order you two required drinks. read more

Tempe improv! Terrible seats, over priced drinks, tv not working, Chip the manager kept changing his stories to us, promised us tickets for another show as he would NOT refund our tickets. We literally had no view of the stage from our seats and then Chip went back on his word; offered us nothing but expected us to still fulfill the 2 drink minimum per person. WOW, Horrible place! The almighty buck over making the customer happy! Think twice before noting these inflated prices, there are so many better comedy clubs nearby! read more
