In the four years since I first saw this program, the only Cabaret at the Merc I missed is one night was when I was sick. This is a stellar program. There are so many things great about it. The talent is fantastic and the producers wonderfully match the music to the vocalists and band. The vocalists come from a variety of places and backgrounds that show the quality of their professionalism. The band is top notch. Leigh, the piano player, is an amazing pianist who adds a tremendous touch to the program. Will, one of the guitar players, will leave you craving for more. Not to play second place, the venue is part of what makes this program so fun. It is a very intimate setting, where there is frequent banter between the audience and the performers. The feel is light-hearted and you can tell the performers truly enjoy participating. The fun of sitting a few feet from extremely talented people and taking in beautiful music is an experience. Each theme presented stands on its own and range from Broadway to rock to soul. Am I over-the-top for this program.....yes!

The views from the top were gorgeous, especially since we arrived around sunset and got to overlook the vineyards. Getting to the restaurant was part of the experience. We walked through the wine barrel area before reaching our private dining space, and the name definitely speaks for itself because you're literally dining inside a cave! The dim lighting, ambiance, and beautiful table setting made the evening feel extra special. We started with the chimichurri fries, which were so good! The bread with melted cheese and marinara was another favorite. We had a set menu for dinner, and I chose the Maine lobster followed by the cannolis for dessert. The lobster was a little overcooked for me, but it was seasoned well and the presentation was beautiful. The cannolis were delicious! Our servers were wonderful and very attentive throughout the evening. Overall, we had a great dining experience and such a fun night with the group. I definitely want to come back and try their wine tasting next time!

It was a hot weekend but there was plenty of shade at the top of the Ampitheater. This venue is a great place to listen to live music. The sound was great and there was plenty of seating. Check the website because it may vary depending the event but I would suggest bringing a pop up of sorts and some lawn chairs. The bottom half of the Ampitheater is stadium type seating, essentially concrete seats which get very hot with the Temecula heat. If you plan on sitting in those seats I would suggest bringing a seat cushion for comfort as well as protection from burning your bum, and a hat. Overall a really neat venue.

This year the concert series runs from June 1st to the last one on July 27th. Gates open at 5pm and the concert starts at 7pm. This is a beautiful outdoor arena located on the grounds of the Temecula Community Recreation Center and next to the Ronald Regan Sports Park. There are several rows of tiered seating with a grassy area which is wide enough to fit a beach chair for comfortable seating. At the top, above the tiered seating levels is a grassy area where you can lay down a blanket and spread out. There is also easy handicap access and seating. No alcohol or pets are allowed. There is lots of parking. These concerts are very popular and fill up quickly. Get there early to grab your spot, bring a picnic dinner, and enjoy the outdoor setting while waiting for the concert to start. The audience is filled with young and old, and a lot of families. There are usually snacks and drinks for sale, but not anything for a full meal. I think last night the vendor was Maui Wowi Hawaiian Coffees and Smoothies. Last night the band was Smokin' Cobras, singing old time rock and roll, a little bit of Johnny Cash, Beach Boys, Swing, and a lot more. Everyone gets into the music and there was a lot of dancing. It was fun, fun, fun! The seats face west and the sun is right in your face until it sets. It does get hot during the summer time. Bring sun glasses, a hat, or an umbrella for shade. Once the sun goes down, the evenings are usually quite nice. Last night was a bit chilly. Temecula is such a great place to live! Great get seated after 2 big parties. Also in a booth in the bar area. Very nice booth. We were sat without menus first. Luckily a nice bartender I assume gave us menus. Nobody came for at least 5 minutes as we decided on drinks and all are food. Finally got a server, ordered everything because we were ready. An appetizer, a salad, and paella. To share and each a cocktail. Sooooo the appetizer comes. And we're waiting a few and then a few turns into 10 minutes. We are almost done with our appetizer. No server in sight I look over to the bar no drinks. So I go up to the Hose stand to ask where our drinks are it appears there might've been a manager there, but they ran away. The host said where are you pointed at our table. Got our server. She came over to let us know that they were waiting on juice. We now have our second course and luckily our drink. I probably would've ordered another cocktail, but it was already 25 minutes into our meal. So I did order finally a glass of wine. To go with our paella. We had a tomato salad with that was lacking in flavor and very underwhelming. The paella comes we have the seafood one. It is hot. It is also overcooked, and I saw no calamari and we had very little seafood. I would say this was not the best paella I have had. Which is unfortunate as my friend kept saying this is the best she ever had when she had been there before. I asked her if she ever had been to café Seville. Where they have what I consider the best paella. But this is also Temecula so I really don't expect much from this area. They were very busy so maybe I just had a bad moment and I hope that that is true and everyone else has a great experience there. I wish a manager had been present to be aware of what was happening on the floor during a possible breakfast to lunch transition
