The best comic shop in south jersey and one of the few still standing. Not only do they have tons of back issues, but sports cards, trading cards, toys and collectables too. The reason this place has stood the test of time is because it's a comic book MECCA.
I've read others yelping about poor customer svc, but each of my visits has been quite the contrary. I'm not a dog person, but as long as you let it sniff your hand, it will leave you alone. I don't know if the owners accept me because I accept the dog, but as long as you're not kicking the dog and act friendly towards the owners, they reciprocate. The woman there always makes me feel "extra" at home like she's my aunt giving me free run of her comic store. She's like "sure, you wanna sit there and go thru every box, fine, take your time, let me get a chair for ya." The guy on the stool can be a little gruff on first approach, I don't think he's a natural people person, but just talk to him a bit. He'll liven right up. Look around the store, if you're there, I'm sure you'll have at least one similar interest, something in common and excuse for conversation. Find something he can talk to you about and it's like night and day. He'll haggle a bit and is a shrewd negotiator, but will take care of his repeat customers. He's much better than an overly friendly in your face comic owner that wants to talk your ear off or follows you around the store like your stealing something. He won't talk you into buying anything, he's got all kinds of cool stuff that sells itself.
If you're a looky loo and show your face in there for the 1st time, breeze thru in 5 minutes and just skim the surface and think to yourself "this place is overpriced" and walk out, sure, he's not gonna give you the time of day. But spend some time, search out those gems, spend some money, let him know what a cool shop he has and you intend to come back and it's a totally different experience. On your return visit, you'll be treated like a "valued" customer.
This is the only comic store I patronize and is well worth the 45 minute drive. If you're within 1 hour of this place and love to score deals on back issues, this place is a must visit. read more
