Sushi Burrito!
SUSHI. BURRITO.
Two words that sparked in my brain when I first heard them a few years ago. Two words that sound wrong in one way, but OH SO RIGHT in others.
I missed a chance to try one the last time I was in Singapore (we were in a hurry) and so when I heard of a new sushi place opening in the city centre I was excited, but when I heard that they would have sushi burritos on the menu I was ecstatic!! Finally I'd be able to try one of these wonderful sounding concoctions.
As it was my first, I kept to the classic salmon and avocado, and oh boy was it good!
There are two ways of looking at a sushi burrito, one is to describe it as a very large sushi roll (about the size of a burrito), the other is to imagine a burrito sized dish that is made from sushi ingredients. Regardless of where you are approaching it from, the Temaki Sushi Burrito is a thing of wonder.
Fresh salmon, perfectly ripe avocado, a wedge of pickled... something (I can never tell, it was yellow and crunchy), some crispy lettuce leaves to help bulk it out, all wrapped in well prepared sushi rice and nori.
A simple idea but executed well. It was delicious! I was wary of it being a bit 'rice heavy' but the proportions are spot on, a daub of wasabi, a dash of soy sauce and the next thing I know I've scoffed the lot.
Price wise I'd say it's competitive, sushi is not a cheap dish and my burrito was £7.90 but considering it was very tasty, and very filling, I think it's spot on.
Whilst I was getting takeaway I have to admit I like the interior, it's small but cosy and two long angled mirrors running the length of the dining area give it a warm but spacious feel.
A great start for a new business, and one I'll definitely be revisiting. read more
