Came here with a couple friends for food and drinks. It was a Wednesday night so not terribly busy but definitely a crowd. We ordered cocktails and they were good and you could actually taste the alcohol. We ordered some random food like the steak quesadillas, cheeseburger egg rolls, chicken Caesar salad, and a sandwich. The food was fine. General bar fare. The service was great--our waitress was really nice and accommodating for our special requests. They had great music playing but it was pretty low so you really had to pay attention to hear it. We enjoyed our night here and will definitely return. read more

Nope. The container was small, something red was smeared on top ( very unappetizing) lettuce brown, strong odor, no napkins or fork, half a container of dressing. I've been here a few times now. Big space and lots of tables. Service is quick and efficient. Good selection of beer and cocktails. Burgers, sandwiches, and a few entrees. I had the slam dunk last night and my companion had the grilled chicken sandwich. They'll let you swap in soup for your side or mix it up with seasoned fries and Mac and cheese. I ordered the slam dunk minus the cheese- plenty of meat with au jus. It was just right. Good fries. Cold beer! Great spot! Recommend. read more

My 300th review! Woo! Telly's Place is a local bar / restaurant that offers typical bar fare with some really stellar options. Recently my boyfriend has been obsessed with reubens. I'm not sure why, but I just go with the flow. Telly's offers a fantastic reuben! It's not stacked with corned beef, but still quite filling and tasty. He really loves the thousand island dressing here too. Telly's also offers a solid burger. I love the sesame seed bun and how big the burger is. Can't even finish the whole thing! I've had the burger a few times now and it's always seasoned just right. I ask for it well done but sadly it's been medium well at times. Not that much of a big deal, however. I docked a star here because their sides aren't that great here. You have to pay $1 more to get seasoned fries rather than regular fries. And the fries aren't even great! I had the pasta salad once and sadly it wasn't my favorite either. The onion rings are great though! Just have to pay appetizer prides to have them. Overall we will be back. We decided to stop in after watching a basketball game across the street and grab a quick bite before the start of the next game. Yes NCAA tournament. The place is clean but dated. Staff very friendly. Everyone knows your name type place. Obviously not ours. Service is a little slow. I think the game may have them hopping a little without extra staff. But the staff works hard. Took a bit to get food ordered. Wife's drink was a heavy pour. That's good. Watched my food go up on the window and sit for almost 15 minutes. Wife's food must have been made before the delivery, hers was at least warm. No bell ringing for staff. Thought the heat lamp would take care of it so I didn't say anything. Clearly no heat lamp. Sandwich and fries were ice cold. I didn't say anything because I was very hungry and I didn't want to be that guy. I knew that a recook would take forever. But I do have to say for cold food, it still tasted good. Food placed in a different window for the bar gets a bell ring. Seems odd. Clearly the staff know a lot of the patrons and they all know each other. Very welcoming place. Maybe an off night coming in during the NCAA tournament. Service was pretty good but very disappointing experience with the food. Spinach artichoke dip app didn't look appetizing and had zero presentation. Didn't get a pic but it was served in something that resembled a soup cup with a glob of melted orange cheese on top. It was also served with a salsa which was clearly jarred store bought. The Taste of the dip itself was average. I ordered the chicken ceaser salad for my entree. It came to the table looking absolutely nothing like how it was described on the menu. Chicken wasn't charbroiled and had zero flavor/ seasoning. The dressing it was served with wasn't a classic ceaser dressing, it was more like oil. I immediately sent it back and refused to Order anything else in place of it. My husband ordered a side salad and coconut shrimp. His salad was wilted iceberg lettuce with a sad cucumber and onion slice. Coconut shrimp came with what seemed to be a mystery sauce and they were the frozen cook and serve kind. Not good at all. I went last night with my parents and husband. We sat in the back, space wasn't socially distanced as the night wore on. Our waiter came to our table and asked what we would like to to order to drink. I noticed his mask had fallen below his nose. I wasn't going to say anything but it bothered me and so I told him that his mask should be over his nose. He couldn't just move it up onto his nose, but had to tell me he would if he was in China, but he had recently moved from California. Was this supposed to be funny. It wasn't. I am not from China, I am Korean, but this waiter didn't appear to know where I was from and he turned me off immediately with such a poor joke that felt it was somehow directed towards me. 1) Our first app orders were for the macho nacho with the chili and onions on the side. 2) The macho nacho was out to us another while longer. It looked bare and was only covered on about 1/2 of the top layer with some cheese. I get why the chili is necessary, it might have looked a bit more substantial. The macho nachos were bland and boring. We had to ask for the side of chili, as it didn't come to our table the first pass. Took a while to flag down our waiter. 3) The waiter didn't come back to get our food order after the macho nacho was in. After a while, we were able to finally flag down the waiter after another good spell to get our drinks and the food order in. 4) We ordered a Manhattan for my step-dad. My husband asked what kind of pale ale or porter beers they had. The waiter named off Sam's October fest. My husband wasn't satisfied with the single beer option and asked what kind of light beers they had, the waiter said they have bud light, adding that they have so many. Then my husband asked if they had any Java porters at all. The waiter said no, they don't have any of those coffee porters at all. The bartender yelled to our table that they have bottles of vanilla Java porter. Fancy that. We ordered a regular Reuben for my step-dad, Turkey Rueben for my husband. My mom ordered her usual Cobb salad and I got the Greek salad with the Jamaican jerk chicken as an add-on. 5) The waiter after a long while brought the Manhattan, spilled the Manhattan onto the floor by our table as he was too quick to grab it off his tray and handed it to my step-dad with the sides of the glass all wet from the decent spillage and sans an ounce or so, which ended up on the floor. The vanilla Java porter was out to us. He forgot my soda and lime. I had to ask for it two more times before I finally got my beverage order. 6) Our food seemed to take another long while. Our runner for our food roughly placed my Greek salad with the side of Jamaican chicken in front of me, she did it enough that a pita fell off my plate and went onto the table. She didn't apologize and kept dumping off the rest of the food. 7) The regular Reuben came with a side of thousand island, the Turkey Rueben was dry as a bone. Once again we had a while to wait before we could flag down our waiter ask for a dressing. The food overall wasn't bad and nothing was amiss except for the dressing and less pita on my Greek salad. 6) My mother and I had to ask 3 more times for a box for her salad to take with her as well as for the bill too. The bartender seemed to have mentally checked out with us from the start. My parents had a gift card as they often come here alone or with friends. Our bill the total was $69.64. We paid with a $50 gift card. We got the first $50 processed through with the gift card. I tried to help my mother pay the remaining balance of the bill with my mom's card. She had lost all patience for this waiter and was so distressed over today's horrible service. I dealt with our waiter after seeing how stressed out and frustrated she was. After finally going to the bar and waiting for the waiter yet again take our balance and my mom's credit card to pay off the remaining bill. The waiter ended up charging my mother more, it was only $0.30. She was so incensed at this error. My mother was annoyed that the waiter didn't give her a copy of the receipt. I couldn't flag down the waiter and had enough of him. I flagged down a female waitress and she grabbed the manager, he would be able to get us a copy of the receipt. It took a while but the manager was able to find a bill. I told him about our horrible experience, he offered a small gift card. I said no thank you. read more

I came into Telly's for the first time on a Saturday night. The decor seemed to still hold a lot of remnants from the 80s. I wasn't a fan of the country radio being played. I wasn't in a drinking mood either, yet here I am at what I hadn't expected to be so much of a typical bar. I don't love that I'm judging an establishment just off a soup and salad, but that's what I was in the mood for and ordered. I got the chicken parm ceasar salad and a cup of clam chowder. The clam chowder tasted the same as it would at most bars or diners. Edible, but bland and having most of the flavor driven by the addition of table salt and pepper. The salad wasn't particularly bad at all, but brought out a number of nitpicks. The bottom part of the lettuce bundle that's normally cut and thrown in the trash was in my salad for some reason. It wasn't in an actual wilted state, but many of the leaves were yellowing to the point where a few hours could have destroyed it. The portion of chicken provided was proportional to only maybe half of the salad. The service was nice and friendly, and though I only had a soup and salad I have to say that I'm always the type to believe that menus often to just be shorter and more condensed to only include quality options. This just isn't my kind of my place. The whole experience felt a bit dated and didn't pique any curiosity to explore the menu further. This might be a nice gathering establishment for certain crowds, but I don't see myself returning. read more

I had a take out order tonight. I have to say I got the chicken Caesar salad fast and it was fresh. There was hardly any chicken on the salad. I estimated it was probably an ounce of chicken. It might have been 1/4 of a chicken breast. Also, the parmesan was skimpy too. Lots of lettuce and croutons, but no substance. For the price, it wasn't worth it. Won't be ordering a carry out again from there. You don't know what you have or don't have until you open the box at home. I didn't have time to go back and complain either. read more

My bestie and I were on the hunt for food. Lunch specifically. We had plans to go to her neighborhood park and spend the rest of the afternoon by the water. We decided to eat at Telly's. I had an ex named Telly but I was hoping for a food experience that was better than that relationship. Unfortunately, I had no such luck. Parking was easy. We found a spot on the street in front of the restaurant/bar. We found a booth and waited for our server to come over. There were no more that 10 patrons eating and 4 server's that we could see. It took about 5 or so minutes for our waitress to come over and she wanted to get our order. We requested water and a drink menu. There was a mini cocktail placard on the table but no comprehensive list. I asked for a Shorts Soft Parade. They did not carry it. Our server asked if I wanted her to take a picture of the beer listed on the chalkboard behind the bar. I was cheering in my head. "Yasss, customer serive points!" Sad to say that was the end of that. It all went down hill from there. I noticed that when we ordered she didn't have a pad and pen. No probs, that a sign of experience. I was wrong, so wrong. I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger, medium well, no onions, add bacon and a side of onion rings. My friend ordered the chicken quesadilla with onions. When our food arrived 40 minutes later, I has Sooooo many onions and she had none. I don't send food back so l figured I would take the onions off. Well the food had cooled in tha back for so long, the caramelized onions were being aggressively protected by the cheese and mushrooms. With much hunger and sincere apologies, I sent the burger back. The waitress came back to "make sure" She got my order "right." "So you don't want onions? "Correct." "And that was it?" "Yes, that was the only thing wrong with my food." She returned much quicker. My burger was hot but it was missing bacon. No worries, I would have it taken off the bill. I was hungry and I just wanted to eat something at that point, anything. When I told her about the missing bacon things went way left. This chica rolled her eyes and said, "when I asked you if that was all, you say yes. You did not ask for bacon." ... It was at that moment she had me fucked up. "What I ordered was the same burger I ordered the first time you didn't write it down minus the onions. Just take the bacon off the bill. Thanks." I bit into my juice, fresh off the grill perfectly seasoned burger and it started to bleed. The burger was medium. I called Miss Thang, back over to return the food and have it taken off the bill. I called Shore's Inn, placed a pick order, paid for my drink and left without tipping for the first time in 20 years. I am sure they were just having an off day. I have loved Telly's burgers for years. Not a huge fan of their carry out procedure. You have to wait in the bar area to catch the eye of the bartender who cashes you out and gets your food. The burgers are still yummy, although they do not understand "well done" means no pink!! Their loaded potato skins were very yummy, though. read more

Do NOT order the Caesar salad expecting an actual Caesar salad. The dressing is basically vinegar and oil with some garlic and herbs mixed in. Very oily and horrible taste. Thank goodness I asked for the dressing on the side and was able to go to the store and buy actual Caesar dressing. Also very, very skimpy on the grilled salmon. I was working down the street on a beautiful sunny Saturday and he met me for lunch. We wanted to go somewhere else, but with covid it's hard to find anything open before 3! Not to mention there are a bunch of restaurants closed in the area because of staff testing positive. This place came recommend by one of the nurses. So we chose to meet up here. Be prepared, the only parking is metered street parking and the meters require actual coins. Who on earth carries coins? Also, there is an hour time limit and you need to come back out to pay the meter or risk a ticket. Anyway this was a cute spot. You could tell it was built in the 80s but has had some upgrades. The ceiling for example reminded me of a limo bus haha. Anyway, we weren't drinking today but the beer selection seemed decent. The bartender was super sweet. She seemed like a genuinely good person. This place has outdoor seating that looked like it would be nice in the summer. Grub hub seemed popular. I can tell you why! The food was sooo good. I ordered a chicken taco salad and devoured it. He ordered a chicken Gyro and said it was quite good. The people next to us got burgers and I nearly asked for a bite. I thought they might think I was weird though. Haha. This a cute spot. Not fancy, but far from a dive bar. I think cozy and welcoming would best describe the atmosphere. I ordered a vodka with a splash of sprite and I appreciated that the waitress brought me a short glass of pop so I could add it myself. For dinner, I had the cob salad. The chicken on it was amazing. It was extremely tender and flavorful. The salad itself was one of the best I've had in a long time. The pita bread on the side was delicious as well, as was the homemade ranch. Wife had the taco salad and she really enjoyed it. Both salads were huge and we had leftovers. As we were leaving, someone was setting up to play music. Tried carryout from here last night. We tried the veggie pita with artichoke added which was very good if looking for vegetarian option. I tried there specialty dish popeye. They take chicken, mushrooms and there signature spinach dip layer it on a pita bread and then smothered with cheese and baked in a casserole dish. Highly recommend. read more

So I hope they work on that; but after we found somebody we were sat almost immediately which was great.... that's due to reservations. Make em! I was here before and had an okay experience but tonight I ordered more of a meal and they proved themselves. Went with the kabob dinner, and WOW, lots of flavor. No complaints. My only complaint would be that I wanted the kabob last time and the waitress recommended a grilled cheese... Which happened to be a disappointment. However after trying kabob this time it was amazing flavor and I had no problems at all---five stars all the way, if anything I'd question the waitress. Definitely our last visit. The food was mediocre at best, and the service was crappy. Also, the floor is dangerously greasy; I thought I was going to break my neck. They need to consider a serious deep cleaning and turn on another light or two. The manager's selective acknowledgment of patrons was a turn off as well. Not inviting at all.
