Amazing place, I have been going to the tap room for over 45 years. A true treasure. Would love for Russell M to connect with me for a book I'm working on. Thanks!

After smashing tiki drinks after tiki drinks after tiki drink at the bar a few blocks away from this joint. My friend said that we should hit up this bar. Why not,,, the bar we were just at seems to only have 1 speaker unit at the end of the bar. AND we, just so happen to be seated right next to it. So yes!! A change of venue is quite needed. Definitely a quieter bar,, more of a buddies get together for the night and chill type of setting. I had a pour of the Maccalan 12. I dont remember what my friend had, but I think he chose a whisky. My hubby went with a beer beer. We had a pretty nice time drinking and shooting the breeze for a moment here. The bartender was super attentive and definitely knows his liquor. The setting was pretty good as well. More on the rustic pub style which is something I quite like. Would definitely come back and have a drink here again, or maybe even try some food items. Who knows. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!!

I absolutely love this place! You know it's a special spot when people come together just to sip on a few cold beers and maybe play some darts. There is nothing pretentious about this place, simplicity at its finest. They have a huge selection of beers to choose from. My friend introduced me to this place a few years ago, it's one of his favorites, and I can certainly understand why. They do not serve food but you'll always find a food truck sitting outside to accommodate your late night hunger-pangs. Every time I'm in the area, Ye Olde Tap Room is our meet up spot. I

Couldn't get any more neighborhood dive bar than this. And there is no replicating here, this place is the OG. This place was recommended to me and described as the neighborhood joint back in the 70's and it is still that neighborhood joint today. Come on in for the draft pours, I think the happy hour goes until 8 on the weekdays... ~$3 drafts. And yes, two hearted was on draft when I was there. A local's joint, but felt welcomed when we arrived. I think the only food here is peanuts, but not positive. Will be returning.

You can't read it, but shows vast selection of beers.

So many beer options! I wanted an IPA and the bartender took the time to discuss options. The atmosphere is chill and conducive to talking and just hanging out. Also, priced were reasonable.

My friend Jessica was in town and so I drove over to Grosse Pointe to meet her for a drink. We met at the Tap Room, which is probably her favorite bar, or at least on the eastside. I've only been YOTR a few times. I find it to be dirty, dark and dank. The music is too loud. I could barely see because there was barely any light. The bathroom doesn't lock or have a sink in it. I believe that this is the quintessential dive bar. However, there are many good qualities about the YOTR. The most apparent and best quality is the number of beers available. The YOTR has the selection that is only matched by the likes of Ashley's in Ann Arbor. They serve pretty much any brew, local, domestic or international, that you can think of. The prices are reasonable. And you can get peanuts in the shell and drop the shells on the floor. The bartender was very nice. This isn't really my kind of place. I think that you had to grow up in the GP to appreciate a place like this. Until the next time my friend Jessica comes home, I'll stay on my side of town.

Not to bad of a place... FREE PEANUTS!!! The bar has a mass selection of different types of beers and also there's old beer tips hanging up to give it that old bar feel. The bartender was very nice and also allowed me to taste some beer free -- only because I'm not really a beer drinker unless it's cheap. Pitcher are $8.00 which can server upto 4 cups of beer but unfortunately the type of beer servers in pitchers are few. This place is more the for the locals -- so if you live far, I wouldn't suggest this place unless someone else is driving. (Just a standard bar with one small TV)

Reasonably priced drinks in a world gone so mad that an old fashioned is $20 nowadays, really good food (try their burgers, very good or their wings, booyah!) and while I should give them 1 star for this, the only bad thing about them is that it's a spot for Arsenal supporters (Go Blues!) LOL. One of the best parts of the bar is that they offer shuttles to the major venues for their events. Why I usually start here before every Lions or Tigers game I go to. Regarding service, the bartenders are usually fun, and I am a fan of all of them. They provide great service even when they are packed. If you go in wanting fun and a good time, you won't be disappointed.

But if you know crowds are coming when shows let out... you've gotta be ready for it. Two bartenders for a packed bar just wasn't cutting it. I waited about 20 minutes for a drink and eventually just gave up, which is frustrating when you're trying to enjoy a night out. And the one drink I did get earlier honestly looked like a sample cup. The place felt kinda dirty and weirdly quiet (before the rush)? Like super dark (which I get, dive bar) but no music or energy to balance it out. It just felt off. I've been here a few times now hoping it would hit different, but it hasn't yet. If you're the owner reading this, I'd just say plan for those post-show rushes. Even one more bartender and a little boost in atmosphere would go a long way. I'll probably still swing back because of the location, but man... I'd love to actually enjoy it next time.

My sister had the Honest John's hard cider that was on draft. It wasn't as sweet, but it was good as well. I had the grilled johnny john sandwich -- chicken, swiss cheese, tomatoes, lettuce on grilled pita. It was very filling; I only ate half! My sister had the chicken Caesar wrap, with the same result. This is an update to my previous review of HopCat Detroit…read more I still love the food and the lively, energetic ambiance here. The fresh, flavorful meals and the downtown vibe make it one of my favorite spots to grab a bite or hang out with friends. That said, I want to elaborate on my not-so-great dine-in experience from before. One night I decided to eat in, and while my waitress was genuinely nice and attentive, the experience took a weird turn when my meal was brought out. The guy delivering it just walked past me, dropped the plate on the table with a loud clank, and didn't greet me or even acknowledge me at all. It was jarring -- not only did it feel careless, but it completely broke the warm, fun vibe I'd come in expecting. On top of that, I had the app downloaded to earn rewards points, but my waitress never added them, which was frustrating enough that I ended up deleting the app. That one visit definitely stood out as an exception in an otherwise positive history with this location. Since then, I've had better experiences with staff, and the food and overall energy of the place continue to shine. Despite that one odd incident, I still highly recommend HopCat for the atmosphere, creative menu, and fresh food. I'll continue coming back and will share more updates (and pics) along the way.
