Then I devoured the amazing Salmon Teppanyaki entree while she had the Shoyu Ramen. The Teppanyaki presentation was beautiful: plate still sizzling hot with perfectly cooked salmon and vegetables. The service was friendly and efficient. The vibe was bright and welcoming with J-Pop playing softly in the background. Dessert was a light Matcha cheesecake which finished off the meal nicely. Friendly server. Tried the spicy tonkotsu miso ramen and I think I just find most ramen too salty. It was very pretty - nice vibrant spicy oil color and the broth was very rich and flavorful and just maybe too much for me. I was a bit overwhelmed by the salty flavor. The pork slices were a bit chewier than expected but I enjoyed the meatyness and the fact that the pork was NOT as salty as everything else in the soup. The runny egg was also good. The noodles were bouncy. The Golden Gate roll featured salmon, scallop, and avocado with crunch from the cucumber and tobiko. I really enjoyed the lemon slice with this roll. I would try this again but I will probably stick to getting sashimi or sushi rolls. read more

New favorite neighborhood sushi restaurant. Glen Park is already just the sweetest neighborhood but we walked by this place and had to try it. As soon as you walk in you can smell the fresh tempura. We had a roll with shrimp tempura and it was still warm from being freshly fried. I would recommend everything we had, but in this order: Rapture roll, hamachi nigiri, gyoza sampler, sake toro nigiri, tuna hosomaki. Loved that our server sent us away with a roll recommendation for our next visit. I'll definitely be back! Worth every penny. read more

The ambiance is wonderful giving it an old history look while still keeping a vibe with old Japan. Tekka house is my go to sushi place in Glen Park. Wilson and Alex are fantastic hosts and take good care of the regulars. My favorite is the Chefs Choice Sashimi, Chenery Roll, and Volcano Roll. Agadashi Tofu, Oysters, Agadashi Tofu, and Wontons are my favorite starters. I also appreciate their seasonal fish, like the Halibut they had. There was only one party here when we arrived at 6PM on a Sunday and they had just finished so we had the place all to ourselves. I love the design-Japanese modern. There is metered street parking available, but you don't have to pay on Sundays. We looked at the menu via the QR code and were not prompted to create a profile. You can order online, but our waiter actually took our order which we appreciated. He was very nice and welcoming from the moment we stepped foot inside. I started off with the Ahi Tuna Poke which came with wonton chips. The chips were slightly too oily, and there weren't enough. I finished the chips with about 3 spoonfuls of poke left. The texture of the poke pairs so well with the chips though and the sauce is very flavorful. (A bit too salty once you get to the bottom) The dragon roll had great quality. I didn't need to dip it into shoyu as the sauce was enough. The best part of this was the ginger. I was amazed at how fresh and crunchy it was. No wonder it's offered as its own side dish on the menu! The shoyu ramen comes with thinner noodles than traditional ramen, but they were perfectly cooked. This was my favorite dish. read more

I want to love Tekka house. I want it to be as good as it can be. But I think they could make a lot of improvements. First and foremost, and they know this is a pet peeve is the QR code menu. Have a chalkboard! Or newly printed menus that let patrons know that you are on top of the freshest fish available. QR codes are so COVID era. Just stop that. Also your prices are really high. If you had more traffic (and I live right near by so I know that is a real issue), you could probably lower them. I went to Yume tonight instead. Good. Reliable. Didn't break the bank. Tekka House is perfect for dinner and kid friendly. The interior decor is enhanced by dark woods with Japanese touches, love the indoor base water fountain! Flavors are spot with food and sushi presentation above standard. The chicken dishes are great but try the Sticky Ribs...awesome! Recommend and we will be back. read more

This review got knocked down due to customer service and prices. I originally was going to give it higher stars because the taste of the food is not the issue, the prices and rude attitude from the owner is. Seeing the menu is easy as they have a QR code on the table, just note the menu images on Yelp are fairly old and don't reflect current prices. When I was deciding what to eat, I was shocked at the prices. A California roll was $17 and other basic rolls like spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and Philadelphia were just as expensive. For reference, restaurants that are considered three or more dollar signs on Yelp and on the higher end do not charge as much for basic rolls. I'd expect to pay $17 for a speciality roll. Even places in more expensive neighborhoods charge around $8-12, and they use real crab. I'm just writing this so other customers are aware before being "bamboozled" like I was. I didn't appreciate being rushed to order (there was no one else eating there at the time) and the owner's rude attitude. The food itself is decent and their hours are very flexible, I would certainly come back if the prices made more sense. For the portion size in a casual setting, it is overpriced. read more

A surprisingly delicious neighborhood spot. It's unassuming ambiance belies the fact that the food is really good! Don't sleep on the appetizers, as the quickly grilled butterfish, the melty tangy ribs, and the crispy greaseless tempura are a great way to start a meal. Yep, this was definitely a neighborhood Japanese restaurant close to the Glen Park BART station. No doubt. It used to be Tataki Canyon, another neighborhood Japanese restaurant, and I still don't think the newish owners have any aspiration to become the next Nobu. Nothing wrong with that, but you may want to dial down your expectations. I sure did when I was seated at the sushi counter as a solitary diner, and I was pleasantly surprised. I started with the $6 Karaage, which turned out to be a generous portion of Japanese fried chicken presented as a bar bite appetizer with dipping sauces (photo: http://bit.ly/2Rcc9Cz). Piping hot but frankly more than I could handle. I coupled it with the $14 Rainbow Roll which was fresh enough but fairly standard grade. Where I took a bit of a wrong turn was trying to order off-menu and asked if the sushi chef could make a naruto roll since I wanted a no-rice option with crunch. He appeared puzzled by my request as it would have required an artful carving of a fresh cucumber wrapped around pieces of sashimi in a spiral pattern. The pork gyoza were beautiful and crispy, but the filling was just okay. I am a big agedashi tofu fan, but didn't enjoy theirs. The crispy coating on the chunks of tofu turned quite gelatinous in the broth. Hamachi was okay, a bit mushy. So, we filled up, but it was not inexpensive and not great. read more

It's always a pleasure coming here. The sushi is super fresh. The lobster was actually still moving when it came out. The fishes were fresh and fatty. The chef took the head and claws of the lobsters and made us Garlic butter lobster udon. Although they seemed to be lacking in staff. I discovered Tekka House after hiking nearby in Glen Canyon Park. I never really had been to Glen Park before but now I try to hang out after hiking because the area is so cute and homey, a little hamlet away from it all yet very easily accessible by Bart and the freeway. There are a few restaurants here but this seems the newest with the most modern feel. The restaurant is small, maybe only 7 tables as well as seating at the sushi bar. I'd recommend their fried mashed potatoes. So good! I've gotten it a few times and I think the next time I'll order more than one for myself. It's called the croquette on the appetizer menu. I also liked that they have pitchers of beer which I find hard to find in a regular restaurant that isn't more bar focused. read more
