Russ and Debbie, the owners, were so accommodating, enjoyable, helpful and easy going; people you could just spend all day talking to. There are some RV spaces to camp here so we stayed on site to make set up a little easier on the day of the memorial. We had family that rented a quaint one bedroom cabin on site as well. There is an outdoor covered kitchen area with a huge refrigerator, which allowed us to bring food in advance and prep the day before. It was all so convenient! They were in the path of the Dixie fire, so the drive out there is baron, but don't let that deter you. Once you arrive, you are surrounded by green trees and stunning scenery. It was a perfect hidden gem. We are so pleased with our entire experience at lassen meadows and would absolutely recommend it and use this venue again for other events.

The staff were friendly and the entire check in process was easy. For the price, we got an individual tiny cabin with two bedrooms and a bath. It came with a simple kitchen and an awesome patio overlooking the, unfortunately, near empty lake. The staff informed us that the lake had been drained to help fight recent California wildfires, so that made me feel a little bit better. Anyways, the cabin was clean and everything you would need for a nice relaxing stay. My biggest qualm was that the hot water did not work so we were not able to take a shower (unless it was ice water cold). And the Internet did not work - not for browsing or streaming pleasure but simply for cell phone service in such a remote area. All in all, a decent spot to stay in the Shasta Lake area.

OK, I checked it out a few weeks ago, but just sort of got around to doing a review now. Normally, I only do Indian food at restaurants that offer lunch buffets, I dunno, I guess that's how I started eating Indian food and I have my fave dishes. Oak Creek Ranch offers no buffet, but since I live here in Red Bluff, I gotta give it a try. Oak Creek Ranch is located out of the main part of town in the south. You can find Montgomery Road off of South Main Street. Turn right just before the freeway and it's like a frontage road to the freeway. Keep going, and it's on the right. If you get to the end of the road, you passed it, go back. I ordered to go since I was by myself and didn't wanna eat alone in a restaurant I never been to before. I ordered my fave Tandoori chicken that came with two drumstick and two thigh pieces. Also, tried the Chicken Tikka Masala and got some basmati rice to go with that. I spent way more than I would at a buffet, but the nearest Indian buffet is all the way in Sacramento over 2 hours away! The wait for the food wasn't too long and it smelled good in the car. I forgot to get some naan, but oh well, next time! I get home just maybe 10 minutes away and open up the food. I put the rice and Tikka Masala out on a plate. OK, I gotta say, the Tandoori chicken was really good, very tandoori tasting and tender, no struggling to pull the meat off with my teeth. The tikka masala was good, not too spicy and went well with the rice. I had leftovers for later. No leftovers allowed at buffets, so there's that. I'm glad I found a place for Indian food right here in Red Bluff, a town not known for restaurant diversity away from chain restaurants. So, I put them up here at the Holiday Inn Express. It's near my house at the north end of town so it easy and I used some of my rewards points I have from all my business travel. This location located right next to the Home Depot has been recently remodeled and I all nice and new in the front downstairs area. They used to have a grand piano here, but now that's gone. Check in was easy and the room was fine. Fridge and microwave included. I didn't check the WiFi, but my parents aren't big on the internet thing, they'd rather just watch regular TV. Breakfast was good as usual, and the selections are all about the same at all Holiday Inn Express locations, with good hot foods and breads for toasting. I'm glad this place is near my house and my out of town guests have a nice place to stay. I love the cinnamon rolls here!

We always stay at Holiday inns or Hampton when we travel and there is a level of competence we have become accustomed to that was not provided here. We called ahead to see if they served a gluten free breakfast and they said yes only to find out when we showed up for breakfast with two hungry celiac kids that wasn't the case. We also called to make sure they have a pool because we were traveling with 4 eleven-year-olds and they assured us they had a pool then when we went to go swimming, it was closed for the winter. We asked why they would tell us they had a pool if it was closed and the manager said and I quote "you asked if we have a pool not if we had a pool you can use." Technically he was right but that's kind of a bratty response especially when we're paying hundreds of dollars and we took the time to call ahead and be prepared. Paid on line then when I checked in I didn't have the same credit card on me, he said it was find and he would just keep this card on file but not charge it. Then when I checked my bank account he had charged me for the same room on two different cards. When I went to fix it he was short tempered about it.
