We just moved into a new home and I wanted to wire each of the rooms for ethernet, put in a couple of WiFi hotspots, hang a TV, and install outdoor speakers. I did the same at my previous house by hiring a handyman to run the wires for me, then hooking up / terminating everything myself. I wound up with a sloppy mess that mostly worked, most of the time. I had a snarled mess of ethernet cables in the network closet, a confusing process for using my 4 outdoor speakers, etc. It took a ton of my time, a lot of frustration, and I was never fully happy with it. To make matters worse, I was the only one in the house who knew how to make the speakers work, which caused all kinds of stress.
About 3 weeks ago I was contemplating this and had asked a handyman for a quote to run the wires like I had done in the last house. His quote came back high, and he clearly didn't really understand what I was trying to do other than to just run some wires where I told him to. I knew I was still going to have to terminate all the ethernet cables, hook up my router, deal with the snarls of cables, find and install outdoor speakers, and figure out how to hook them up to an amp on my own. I also had a large TV I had to figure out how to hang in a difficult location. In the back of my mind I knew that even after I did all of this, I wouldn't be 100% satisfied with it, and I would have to try to teach my family how it all worked all over again. It suddenly occurred to me that surely there was a company out there that could do all of this for me, properly. So I googled a bit, read some Yelp reviews, and decided to give Tecnonet a call.
My call was immediately answered by Neville Roman, who was very polite and patient as I explained (some of) what I needed done. He suggested that he could come by that Saturday morning and we agreed on a time. Neville showed up right on time, and was very professional as I walked him through the house and explained what (I thought) I wanted. I told him up front that I'd be receptive to other ways of implementing the things I wanted, and he did make many suggestions along the way, several of which we agreed to do. He was able to give me a quote before leaving the house, which was quote reasonable.
We agreed to move forward, and Neville spent 3 full days in my house and in my attic with another employee, who was equally polite and professional. I work from home, so I was available to ask and answer questions throughout the process. Neville was careful to get my approval before doing anything different than we had originally agreed to, which I really appreciated. One example of this is that he had to break into the walls in a couple of places, then very professionally patched the holes. He came and got me and showed me the problem and explained how he was going to solve it.
2 of the things I'm most pleased with are ones which I only vaguely explained to Neville in our initial meeting. I hated the snarl of network cables I had in the closet of the previous house, and I hated that I was the only one who could work the outdoor speakers. Neville proposed installing a network rack on the wall of my small office to route all of the cables to. He also proposed using a Sonos amp to power all 6 of the outdoor speakers. I agreed to both of these, and he pulled it off beautifully.
I now have an extremely tidy rack where all the ethernet and speaker cables come into and are very neatly organized and zip-tied. One detail I was particularly impressed with is that without me asking him to, Neville used different colored network cables to differentiate which one is coming from the router, which ones go to the wall jacks, and which ones go to the WiFi access points. So I can tell at a glance what's what. Very professionally done.
The Sonos amp works great, and best of all my family can control it easily from their phones. Neville suggested high-quality outdoor speakers and agreed to my suggestion of how to set up the stereo zones. They sound great - I now have the full outdoor audio experience I always wanted, and anyone in the house can use it. I would not have gotten there on my own, so I credit Neville for listening to me and suggesting a setup that solved my core problem, rather than just doing what I told him I thought I wanted.
Before he left, Neville walked me through each and every thing he had done to make sure I was 100% satisfied. He didn't leave until I had signed off on everything. A week later, I was having internet issues where my Xfinity kept dropping out. Neville offered to come back to the house when the Xfinity tech came out, and he did. He spent an hour of his time explaining to the Xfinity guy what he had done and making sure everything was clear.
Tecnonet does really great work and has customer service. I would 100% recommend Neville and Tecnonet to anyone needing these kinds of services. read more
