I was referred and recommended to Technic Auto Spa by a car enthusiast friend with impeccable taste, because I don't know anything about cars, except it goes vroom vroom when I put in gas. They are moving locations from alhambra to Pasadena just a heads up. Bought a brand new lucid air 2025 and first thing you HAVE to do is get it protected. But why stop there? Get it in the color you want too. Pureppf Chalk opal was the color we opted for and we began to search. Technic was the closest shop unless we wanted to go way east or down in oc. But we also wanted the best deal. 11 different shops and 11 different prices. Technic started near the higher end, but they reached out and wanted to work out a deal. Ended up getting a combo package with XPEL XR+ for an insane value. So insane that it was impossible for competitors to match the price. Technic also has a reputation for their installs being impeccable and their videography and examples online reflect that. Fast forward to the Lucid's pick up where we end up dropping the car off to technic that same day as well. There's some minor issues that come up; communication was very good up to the point of dropping the vehicle off. Felt like after the sales was made they were done communicating for the most part. We were told around Wednesday latest for pickup; ended up being friday afternoon. So from 3 days to about 5 days. Some other minor requests they didn't go through as planned, but really not too big of a deal. Jeffrey I believe handles the official text number and we also had Teddy for the personal line. This place is VERY busy. They get a lot of customers and a lot of business, more than what their yelp page is showing for sure. So it's completely understandable that communication can get mixed up. Honestly considering all things it was still really great service. Got a lot of updates when the work actually began. On pickup day we inspected the car and there were two bubbles that I found, but with my understanding of the business and craft, definitely something that will evaporate or disappear over time. Edges were nicely wrapped time will tell if they will lift, but so far so good. Everything was nicely tucked in and mandatory seams were almost invisible. We requested Stek Dyno gloss over the lucid silver trim in the front and he added it to the headlights as well. I trust that it's Stek dyno. Rocket black trim was not ppf'd because of concerns of peeling as well as the tail lights as it's not a high impact area. Overall extremely satisfied with the install. Checked all the jambs and drunk + trunk to double check the quality and happy to report no exposed edges. Carbon nano ceramic tints looked great. Blue hue of XR+ doesn't bother us. IR radiation heat rejection is very good. Total heat rejection is excellent. Top of the line right under i3+ and about the same as i3 if not a little better. Your other ceramic tint competitors will fall short, I have experienced all of them. Coating applied is Gtechniqs Halo v2. Specific for ppf and wraps. I've installed this before so this is good stuff, just know it doesn't last the longest. Not sure if they offer other ceramics, but I will just install my own ceramics once Halo has dissipated. Teddy explained the warranty and follow-up for peace of mind. Let us know that for whatever reason comes up there is enough material to redo 2 panels. That means that there were no mistakes made. This is a very good sign. Also let us know that the follow-up will be in the new location! Awesome place at the end of the day the quality of the work makes up for the communication drop off. Both Jeffrey and Teddy are great people to talk to. This proximity makes this a no brainer to anyone near the Pasadena area. Love this place! Spoke to Teddy who helped me with PPF and tint on my car. The entire process was smooth and they were able to get me in quickly. With other shops I've found that they can sometimes be backed up, but Technic has a massive space with a lot of guys so it wasn't a problem. There's a lot of parking at their location as well, which is nice. In terms of the quality of the work, it was 10/10! At the end I was going to give them gratuity for the great work but Teddy told me gratuity isn't accepted and what they charge is what you pay. Love it, more places should be like this. I had a ceramic coating completed here in July 2024 and water still beads off as if it was the first day it was done. If I could give six stars, I would. Having called many shops to inquire about PPF and tinting, I ended up going to Technic Auto Sa for several reasons. The first and probably the most important, is Teddy, the owner. He answered the phone when I called and took an incredible amount of time, listening to my situation and giving advice and perspective. In the end, I decided to go for a full PPF wrap to protect the matte finish. Throughout the process, which ended up, including full tint of the windows, I received updates from Teddy and he was always quick to respond to any question or request. In fact, I was so impressed before the car was finished, I ended up bringing a second car for a full tint... And then a third! A second major reason was just the shop itself. It was large, immaculately, clean, and efficient... but also calm. I figured if they took care of my car the way they took care of the shop, I was in good hands. And finally, looking at the quality of work he had done on the cars in his shop up close sealed the deal. I picked the car up yesterday and could not have been more pleased with the results. In fact, there were a variety of extra touches that had not been discussed, but were just part of the high-level service provided. Went to Technic Auto Spa after reading their reviews and my friend went prior and had an awesome experience! You can tell the staff, especially Teddy, has a lot of experience dealing with cars. Honestly surprised there's less reviews - a top shop that seems to be underrated. Started off contacting the shop and was greeted by Teddy, who was super transparent with his prices and told me exactly what would be done, no funny business. They are REALLY good at accommodations, especially since I was a last minute walk in customer but was still given awesome customer service. Both my friend (blue 911 GT3) and my G80 M3 competition opted for a full service detail and ceramic coating. I looked up the bottle of ceramic coating they used, and it's a super high end one so they definitely don't cheap out. My friends car and mine were given an extensive deep cleaning, with a clay bar treatment to ensure there was no containments. Ceramic coating was super awesome; I had tried several different shops before and each took so long, used low quality products, and ended up needing corrections or had mistakes, yet charging the same price as Technic but can't even live up to their quality of work. Key notes - 1. They don't just service exotics and super cars. I saw cars such as Model 3s and Camrys being given the same high end treatment as the exotics; this is awesome because they don't slack off on more "common" cars as the other shops I went to did 2. Awesome customer service, Teddy was super friendly and all the staff were also very communicative and approachable, they didn't mind my barrage of questions 3. I recently took my brand new 2024 Miata GT to Technic Auto Spa for a color PPF package. I was excited to have my car protected for a special road trip with a close friend, but unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. PROS: - The quality of the color PPF application was excellent. Many people thought it was a full paint job. The technician who worked on my car did an amazing job. - They took responsibility for a faulty window switch they encountered and replaced it at no cost to me. Although it was weird to occur for a brand new car, I appreciate their transparency on this. CONS: - Timeline and Scheduling: The promised 3-day turnaround turned into a multi-month ordeal. I did not have my car for my planned trip (which I had stressed its importance and assured it would be ready). The job started in December, I received it back in January, and I still do not consider the engagement complete till this day (written on February). Excuses for delays included the technician being sick, on holiday, and unavailable. - Communication: Communication was inconsistent and unreliable. I rarely received status updates and had to make an active effort to reach out to Teddy, my point of contact, for information. Responses to my messages were often delayed by 2-7 days. - Incomplete Work: The black trim pieces were never wrapped with clear PPF, despite being part of the agreed-upon package. Additionally, a plastic cover was missing after they replaced the door switch. - Weekend Availability: Although they claim to be open on Saturdays, scheduling an appointment for the weekend was difficult. On multiple occasions, I was told the technician was unavailable after confirming my arrival. ADDITIONAL NOTES: - My car's driver preferences and settings were reset to factory defaults which was a little annoying. - I noticed that cars that were completed are parked in the main shared lot outdoors after the work was completed. Take note if you have leather seats and low window tint and don't pick up your car promptly CONCLUSION: While the quality of the PPF application was top-notch, my overall experience with Technic Auto Spa was a little disappointing. The lack of communication, missed deadlines, incomplete work, and additional issues left me feeling undervalued as a customer. I would not recommend this business to anyone who expects a premium level of service on all fronts.
