Dropped off my Mac book pro to get the screen replaced: they called and said the computer started smoking when they tried to replace it and it fried my computer. Now the computer won't even come on and they broke my screen. They had the audacity to charge me for a diagnostic which I paid but then got home and saw my screen was broken. I don't know if they fried my computer or if it was because they blamed it on apples defect for the 2016 computers but I'm disappointed that my computer was not Atleast returned to me in the same condition. I went in because I thought I needed more RAM in my Macbook Pro. Within 30 seconds of me walking through the door, Jamin knew the problem was actually my hard drive. And like that, he was performing a diagnostic test on my laptop. I trusted him right away. He struck me as someone who knew what he was doing and had done it a million times. And at no point did he mention dollars. It seems that diagnostics are free at Tech Genius. After the diagnostic, he told me what needed to be done (put in a new hard drive) and what my options were. I told him I needed to go home to back up my files and that I would be back. He had no reason to believe me, and he still didn't charge me for all the time he spent looking at my computer and talking me through my problem. That's class. I came back in two hours, dropped off my computer, and had it back in two hours. It was essentially a new computer for $250.00 (buck-fifty for the labor, and a hundo for the drive itself). I cringe to think what it would have cost at an Apple Store. Oh, he also gave me the latest Mac OS and Microsoft Office for free. And he gave me a heads up that my battery needed to be replaced soon, and he sent me a link to an eBay seller who was selling my battery for only 40 bucks. That's more class. Great as advertised. All the prior reviews were on point. The customer service was excellent, friendly and direct. Had issues with a laptop, juice spilled into the keyboard. Keys wouldn't work. Dropped off for them to work on. I was thinking i would get it back 24 hours from the drop off. Before I reached my destination (20-25 minutes) from the time I dropped it off, I received a call that they were all done. I couldn't believe it. Horrible experience. I do not recommend them to anyone. Their service is neither timely nor professional. Windows 10 had an issue, took the computer there, after about 3 weeks, they just sent me a lump sum amount to pay! i had to ask for an itemized bill. When I went there to pick the computer up after this, it was not even ready! instead of fixing the problem they basically sold me a "new" hard drive, did not bother to recover my files and in the process, i lost all my software. Had to recover files myself and the hard drive they installed is hanging by the wires in the tower of my station! "cause its light and does not need support!" For a 90$ if-new hard drive, I had to pay $260 to get my pc home! When you go there just notice how they keep peoples computer all over the place. Quick and awesome service! I dropped off my laptop at 2:30 on a Saturday, when they close at 4. They told me before I left that it'd probably take the weekend and they'd call me on Monday, which was fine, I wasn't in a rush. But then they called at 4pm on the dot and said my laptop was already fixed and ready to be picked up! They even stayed open until 4:30 so I could get there to pick it up that day. Let me just start off by saying that Geek Squad can suck it. They wanted me to pay them $85 just for the diagnostic, and then use that as a credit toward what would probably be an insanely expensive repair. Hellz naw! So since this place is relatively "up the street" from my house, I decided to give it a go. i told Jamin about how I tried to YouTube my way into fixing my laptop myself (it was overheating) and ended up not having any sound. He commended me for at least trying to be proactive, and since I'd diagnosed the problem myself (seeing as I caused it lol) he was nice enough to work with me on the price. Jamin really knows his stuff! He even offered to answer some follow-up questions if I needed it, since there was one issue he couldn't fix cheaply. He offered some workable alternatives that are even fool-proof for me. I highly recommend Tech Genius for computer repairs! I brought my computer in to replace a broken charging port. I'd actually tried to replace it myself, but when taking the computer apart, I was apprehensive about disconnecting one cable and brought it in to Jamin at Tech Genius. He was very personable and actually showed me how to disengage the cables first which I really appreciated. I left my computer and they called as promised, and I learned my motherboard was no longer working. Long story short, he built me an external drive and transferred all my files in a timely manner and for a reasonable price. He also engaged my son who is interested in coding which was a plus!
