We were here for a late lunch today after seeing the food scene near the waterfront and deciding "hell no" to it. We kinda just stumbled on this place because it looked appealing and we were hungry, and so be it.
It's a cute, intimate space inside, and because we were one of only a couple tables, service was spritely. Basically, everything was just...OK. The aperol spritzer? OK. The vegan salad? OK. It's basically just a bowl of vegetables (peppers, cucumbers, some watercress (is that watercress we keep seeing everywhere??) and then you choose your own adventure by hand making your salad dressing with some EVOO and the balsamic they bring to the table. The spaghetti with clams? You guessed it--it was OK! A nice buttery sauce with baby clams that tasted fresh, but we did not feel like we were eating An Italian Meal. The margherita pizza that our daughter ordered had a pretty impressive sauce, but was otherwise unremarkable. Still good/OK though!
We were probably at a tourist-y spot because it's next to the theatre (hence the name) and down from the duomo, but we have to say that we were expecting a little dolce vita wow all the same. A four star meal if we were anywhere other than Italy, but three stars for it being here. read more
