This place is a hole in the wall, and a bit off the beaten path, but don't judge. This is a locals-only type of place that not many tourists find (in a good way!). The prices are super reasonable, and as an American traveling in Italy, I was looking for a proper breakfast. It only cost (€-€€), my girlfriend only paid 20€ for the first breakfast. The next day we paid 30€, b/c we got half the menu! Everything on the menu is very tasty. It's a funky, cozy coffee house that delivers some delicious food for reasonable prices. Barbara is awesome and the food is solid. Plus, she has a GREAT playlist, jams for days. Also, they do accept credit cards. read more

This is now called Babi and is down a couple more doors down from #17. The owner has a tattoo that says instant coffee on her inner right arm. We have a fabulous breakfast and brunch. My daughters ordered the French Toast and pancakes w fruit. I had the ham and cheese omelet and my husband ordered the full brunch. As the owner explained, everything is made with love and you can tell. read more

This restaurant is the BOMB!! I had eggs & avocado on toast with bacon. I wish I would have taken a photo! The egg yolks were dark orange (fresh and, I assume, free range) and the taste was amazing! My husband and I shared the pancakes with fruit, not only was it beautiful, it tasted as good, if not better than it looked. This hidden gem is the only place in Como with an expansive breakfast menu. We love coffee with pastries, but have been craving a real breakfast. Wow, what a great find in Lake Como! My son and I had breakfast there. My son had pancakes with chocolate syrup and I had the most amazing scrambled eggs with onions and tomatoes. Definitely an eatery I would recommend! read more

The place is a bit overpriced, but the atmosphere is nice. Good scrambled eggs with avocado and one with salmon. Espresso is good as well. The cafe feels romantic and hipster-styled. read more

This is a fairly new cafe in the Como shopping precinct and upon observation seems to already have a cult following of locals and youngans who enjoy a good boutique brew. Don't let the name fool you - it is called instant coffee but serves anything but - from the 8 types of milk (including soy & quinoa), to the boutique teas and multitude of coffee beans on display. Fluency in English is not common in this area, however the hostess (I'm guessing her name is Barbara because it's on the receipt) is gorgeous, speaks English and was basically reading our minds as we couldn't read the menu boards in Italian. I asked her if she made light meals like a salad or sandwich (lunch) and she said yes but there was no menu because it was in her head. She ran through the ingredients she had and feeling whimsical I went with salmon & bagel. She let us taste the local "kopa" which is the regional version of Proscuitto which had a slightly different cured flavour. We ordered this in a heart-shaped seeded roll which was divine. My soy mocha coffee was great, and we really felt welcomed into the cafe, the town an experience. Many of the locals were enjoying the coffee, and fruit juice/shake blends. Hope this place really takes off, totally deserves every success coming it's way. read more

I stopped by here on my way out of Como to beat the traffic to Milan. I arrived shortly past 8am and came across a cute coffee shop, and I was excited to see what they had to offer. They seemed to have only muffins and various store bought cakes (cheese cakes, angel cake, apple pie) in the display case. In a hurry I ordered a muffin and an apple pie and a cappuccino to go. Packaging that took her about 15 minutes, with many trips back and forth behind the counter to get paper bags, turn on cash register, get tissue, forks, bigger paper bag, and to take a sticker on the paper bags to take away. The bill came to €9, which was more than I expected for 2 cold items (yes they were cold) and a cappuccino. After leaving here I walked by a food cart and grabbed a hot croissant for €1. Think carefully whether this is what you are craving before stepping in. read more
