The service is very good. The person serving us quickly took my our order and the drinks were out in less than a minute. They also provide you with complementary breadsticks. The Ambiance is so pretty. The outdoor seating is highly recommended because there is no sun glaring at you and you are sitting in one of the nice, narrow walkways but still have plenty of room. The hostess yelled at us as we were waiting for a table. simply because my wife was waiting for a spot at another door and I was waiting at the front entrance. The hostess caused a scene at the street yelling because they are incapable of coordinating who is sitting people upstairs versus downstairs. Please stay away from this place! Rather run!!! Horrible, horrible experience. There was absolutely no clear organization or indication of where we were supposed to wait for a table, so naturally we were confused about the line. Instead of politely explaining the process, the server was incredibly rude and actually cussed at me. I was shocked by how disrespectfully we were treated. Being busy is understandable, especially in Bellagio, but there is no excuse for treating customers this way. There are no reservations here. We waited on a line before dinner time to ensure we could get a table. We were a large group and we had to split up. I didn't get many pictures of the food. I had the steak. They were cut into smaller pieces. It was soft and had flavor. My sons had the lasagna and they said they were great. The loss of a star is because service was very slow. read more

Barchetta was the first place my husband and I ate dinner when we arrived in Bellagio. This restaurant is just up the steps from the main road along the water. It took us a few minutes to find our way in as the sign at the entrance was a bit hidden. It was pretty busy inside, but we were able to get a seat immediately once we walked in. The restaurant was cute with a warm, cozy feel. We were greeted right away and given a bit of help choosing a local wine. We had two servers that night. They were both polite and attentive. They seemed to care a great deal about the restaurant and their guests. The wine was bold and full of flavor. Instead of a full dinner that night, I had creamy pumpkin soup and stuffed squash blossoms with truffle oil. The pumpkin soup was delicious and clearly made from fresh pumpkin. The squash blossoms were lightly fried and stuffed with ricotta and herbs. I would love to have those again. My husband enjoyed a local, fresh, grilled lake fish. It was served with vegetables and roasted potatoes which made for a very colorful dish. Easily the best meal I've had since I came to bellagio. Dominico was so kind to us and so helpful. The food was absolutely flawless and they also have an excellent wine (and dessert wine) list. The outside of the restaurant looks so cute and promising. However inside the service is rushed, abrupt and not gentile. Bellagio is flush with red ripe tomatoes ( I see them in the grocery stores neighbors gardens) but the bruschetta had flavorless tomatoes on it. My pizza was swimming in a soggy watery mess. I felt like the lunch lady was there yelling in the school cafeteria. I didn't like their service-it was uncomfortable and the food was average tourist food. Come here for the food, it is great! but unless you have reservations, are going to drink wine, and dress well as if you're going to empty your wallet, expect to be treated like a 4th class citizen. Let me give you examples: the service is very inconsistent: it took the waiter about 20 minutes after ordering food to bring the bread, balsamic and olive oil...but not small plates like the table across from us, were they could dip the bread in oil and balsamic...They looked cool and young and drinking wine. I was with wife and teenage son. And I speak fluent Italian, but was not going to tell them how to do their job, that's what Yelp is for! Just taking our order took a while, they gave us menus and drinks and left us alone for a while. Was the food great? Yes, the red wine Risotto with sausage is amazing, so is the Vitel Tonne and the veal scaloppini with lemon sauce was great too. read more

The sweetest place ever. The restaurant is intimate but inviting. I went here with two girlfriends and the staff was wonderful. They gave us recommendations and ensured we were taken care of at all times. We ate the spicy spaghetti and truffle risotto, both of which were delicious and we also got a mixed salad with veggies--which were so ripe!! During the meal we shared how much we loved the glasses and asked the staff where we could get our own. On the way out they gifted us with one which was so generous and kind. First impression: When you walk up the stairs you are greeted with a lovely second story restaurant with some tables having excellent views down the alley of the lake and mountains. Service: We chose one of the many open tables, this one having a beautiful view. Once seated the waiter came promptly asking if we would like some drinks, while beginning to order a half bottle of wine, an older balding grey haired fat man who was the manager, possible owner as well rudely interrupted and said we must be reseated to another table since it was "reserved". There was no sign on the table indicating so however. We were moved to a corner table. Once you sit down you are charged €3 per seat so we stayed. A few minutes later an older British Couple came up and asked the manager if the table that we had originally sat at and were moved from was available. He said certainly and they were seated without a reservation. There is clearly profiling occurring and the best seats are offered only to those they deem more wealthy based on age, race, nationality. Food: I had the fried lake fish entree with creamy risotto and sage. It was mediocre and the fish batter was not tasty. Way too much egg in the batter, it was like eating egg. My girlfriend got the tagliatelle since it said it was "fresh pasta" unlike their spaghetti which is from a box of dry pasta. Unfortunately I tried the tagliatelle and it was not fresh, but had been dried and stored for quite a while before being boiled for serving. Maybe most tourists can't tell the difference, but I make pasta home made often and know the difference instantly. The owner is deceptive. The pasta did not cling to sauce, broke easily so you could not turn it onto a fork. Both signs of NON-FRESH pasta. It was boxed tagliatelle. The texture was cheap and I hate boxed pasta. More on service: The older fat man that owns or manages the restaurant came to our table and was rude, not asking if we enjoyed it, or even commenting. We did not buy the expensive wine and if you aren't spending alot of money they try to push you out quickly. The young male waiter also never asked if we liked the food or needed anything. However the older couple next to us from the UK that had ordered a full bottle of expensive wine, the owner and waiter both asked multiple times. A very nice restaurant hidden in a small alley in Bellagio! The service was nice and the price was more reasonable than those on the main street. I ordered Lake Fish with Rice, Brown Butter and Sage for 16€. It was served fast and very delicious. The fish was battered with a lot of egg and fried. It tasted fresh. The rice was cooked in brown butter and cheese and was very tasty. A great meal! Their outdoor seating was very nice. It's in a small alley without much pedestrians, so it's very quiet. The staff was very available, in contrast with those restaurants on the big streets where they're almost always short-handed. I had a lovely lunch here, after calling ahead to see if we needed to make a reservation. Though we didn't, they saved us the best table looking out at the lake and a nice, steep pedestrian street towards the lake. The whole restaurant is on the second floor, up a small flight of stairs, open on the side so it feels like a covered outdoor patio. The restaurant owner was friendly, helpful, and inviting. We enjoyed glasses of local white wine, a fresh caprese salad, served as a huge dollop of buffalo mozzarella on top of a full tomato, with basil leaves on the top; and prawns in a light curry sauce over gnocchi. We also enjoyed the local amaro, Braulio, after our meal. By 12:45 on a Monday, this place had filled up. A couple of patrons brought their dogs and the restaurant was great about this, bringing water for the dogs and giving them a bit of love. read more

Although this place was on the expensive side- it did not disappoint. We ordered a couple glasses of wine and main courses. Our meal came out to around $60 USD. Not terrible considering we were in Bellagio. My girlfriend ordered the white fish sautéed over a lemon risotto. It was the best risotto either of us ever had. Gayle and I had the pleasure of spending 3 Vacation days in the Lake Como area. On our last day, we bought a mid-Lake boat pass and thoroughly enjoyed the mountain scenery, the lake-side Villages, and Villas, and an overall relaxing time on the water. Lake Como is gorgeous, even though the haze significantly detracts from its beauty. We also decided to go on shore at Bellagio, the self-proclaimed "Pearl of the Lake". The place has a classy Old World Elegance feel, if you don't mind occasionally feeling like a "Tramp in the Palace". And even in September, there are lots of people here, especially on the waterfront. After wandering about a bit, we were ready for Lunch and decided to walk up the hill a bit to find a nice restaurant. From Rick Steves' tour book, we picked Ristorante Terrazza Barchetta. It's a pleasant 2nd Floor Terrace with no Lake view, but with an elegant, yet causal vibe. We ordered a full bottle of wine, plus portions of Tagliatelle Agnello and Risotto Salsiccia, and settled into good conversation and a long delicious meal. There was only 1 other party in the Restaurant, a young couple with 1- and 2-year old girls who were acting in an "age appropriate" manner. Mom and Dad were attentive and loving parents, and Grandma Gayle couldn't help herself in engaging the young ones from a distance. At one point, the Mom apologized for her children's behaviour, but there was no need for that. So in addition, we started talking parenting tips and about where were from an what we did. As it turned out, the Mom was a British Pop Star by the name of Lily Allen. Gayle and I had to look her up afterwards, and I'm sure Lily and her Husband Sam were just fine with the fact that we really didn't know who the hell they were, other than good parents with 2 really cute girls. Hence, they are not in any of the pictures I took during Lunch, nor did I ask for an autograph. Not sure if Ben L and I have the same restaurant. Barchetta is located on Salita Mella and Via Centrale. We are here during the off season when many other restaurants are empty, and Barchetta was PACKED. Good sign. They specialize in wood oven pizzas, so that's what we got. The sausage/mozzarella/tomato sauce pizza was so delicious. Crust is thin, crispy, and purposefully a little burnt. Moz cheese was stringy, chewy and had a great bite. Sausage was fresh as well. We ate like kings and it only cost us 29 euros. read more

This place was great, and I would highly recommend. We arrived quite late on our first night in Bellagio, and this was one of the few places that was open. Luckily this restaurant was highly recommended as well. From the wine to the multiple appetizers and mains we ordered, everything was super tasty. Huge disappointment last night at this place which is otherwise recommended by Eyewitness Books and Trip Advisor reviews. The ambiance is nice, with a vine-covered terrace off a cobblestoned street, although a bit cramped and short on space. Service was friendly but slow, with many requests for bread, olive oil, utensils unheeded. Food was surprisingly terrible for the four of us. We are HUGE foodies and love Italian food. This was unquestionably our only bad meal in Italy, and it was really bad. Our adult son had chicken on polenta, the chicken was full of bones and tendons, and the sauce was stale mayonnaise. Our son had to spit it out and was almost sick on the spot. Our teenage son had roasted duck which was very gristly. The entrees were worse - all four were misses. Our sons had heavy pasta dishes, swimming in fatty, overdone sauces. My beef carpaccio was still frozen, with shavings of mediocre parmesan. My wife had undigestible veal in another heavy, slightly putrid cream sauce. We skipped dessert and coffee and ran for the street. It took lots of herbal tea and grappa to forget the foul taste of the meal, but the exhorbitant bill is there to remind us that this really happened and wasn't just a bad dream. read more

This was the perfect lunch while day-tripping in Bellagio. The terraced dining room is tastefully covered in greenery and other quirky decor. We luckily just made it before the afternoon closing hours, and this place is worth it. I opted for the Lake Como specialty, a perch filet lightly fried and served over a parmesan rice with browned butter. This was one of my most memorable dishes on my short visit to Northern Italy. Rich, intensely flavored and the sage leaves provide the perfect contrast of flavors - there are just no right words to describe it. It was just A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Came here for lunch right when they opened. I was bummed about the lack of water view but the relaxed atmosphere and amazing food more than made up for it. I ordered foie gras as an appetizer and pasta with tomatoes as an entree. Everything was delicious! Even the white house wine was terrific, we had a great time.
