Coffee

Love love love this place! Great food, yummy coffee, and superb service. The ambiance is that of a homey local diner but the quality if food is that of an upscale boutique cafe, if that makes sense. Highly recommend!!

Oatmeal with Brown Sugar, Cinnamon, and Banana
Mollie M.

Great brunch spot to catch up with friends or do homework. They've got free WiFi! I got the oatmeal- you get to choose between three toppings. I choose brown sugar, cinnamon, and banana. It was really nice that all of the toppings came separately on the side so I could choose how much I wanted of each and it was fun mixing it all in! Great service too!

Vegetable soup
Brit D.

Came here for a quick bite to eat about an hour before closing. I was the only customer at the time I stopped in. The ladies at the counter helped me pick an iced tea to try and even let me smell the tea leaves. I saw on their board they had a vegetable soup for the day so I decided to try it. I got my food and drink quickly. I enjoyed the soup and although I wish it had more potatoes, it was filling. I would come back again.

Nice little spot off 157. Near SIUE campus. I've had their breakfast burrito few months back and it was very good. This time I came back for hot coffee and a bagel. Bagel was really good. Their in house coffee is Kaldi's. I had their blueberry one and a colleague of mine had their everything bagel. We enjoyed their services. Kind and warm welcoming staff. It makes perfect for small meeting. It's a cute spot for a date or if you're wanting to have coffee with friends.

Decaf with sugar-free chocolate avo

Checked all the boxes. They had decaf and flavored it up the way I prefer. The service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable.

There's a lot around the strip, it can get crowded. Walk up to the counter, order, and they deliver the food to your table. I got the basic eggs/sausage/toast breakfast meal. It was good. The star was the potatoes. Cooked well, slightly crispy, good flavor. The rest of the meal was solid and I would return.

Such a great brunch spot! So many options on their menu. We ended up ordering several items. Pictured is the chocolate chip pancake kids meal & full breakfast kids meal - I couldn't decide what I wanted, and both were so good! We also got coffees which were pretty good. My only complaint is that there is no waitress/waiter. In order to get water I had to wait in the ordering line to ask for a glass of water which they filled from the sink.

Gooey pecan roll and chai latte
Micki E.

My gooey pecan roll and chai latte were really good. You can order online or in the store. They had a pretty large menu but breakfast food is only served until 11am. There is quite a bit of seating inside. It would be a good place to study, work, or catch up with a friend. I wish it was open later than 3pm.

Roast beef sandwich

Tried to give it another shot. Got a bacon egg and cheese sandwich. They didn't even put bacon on it. How do you forget one of only three ingredients. This place is a sorry excuse for a restaurant now. Can't wait for the new breakfast place across the street to open.

This is a cute little spot to grab a lite bite to eat and a coffee or tea. They are a little pricey for what you get, but it's a nice splurge sometimes. I wasn't a huge fan of their chicken salad sandwich, it did t have a whole lot of flavor, but other sandwiches I've had from here were alright. Their vegetable soup is delicious and so are some of their teas! The service is usually pretty quick too.

My plate I mixed it first before realizing and tasting.

Really wanted to like this place. Shows it because it was one of the only places that had the fresh cut home fries versus the shredded hash browns. Cute decor we placed our order and got the worst looking clearly old shriveled up potatoes. Looked nothing like the previous pictures of other diners. We told the young lady to give the opportunity to fix it and told her that we picked this place because of the Yelp reviews and the pictures and fresh potatoes and these seemed old. Her only response is that's odd we use fresh potatoes everyday. Never offered to switch it out fix it anything so left with no other option but to leave this review. It's too bad that they don't understand freshness and if a customer has a problem remake it. These potatoes are dried up and hard which which is what happens when they are sitting around and reheated. Came in at 10:00 a.m. on a Monday.

I found it pricey for the area, but they have good food and coffee/tea drinks. The room is large with lots of tables, but it gets quite packed. Not a place to sit and work. They serve both breakfast and lunch type foods.

Iced Turtle Latte with Almond Milk and Black Coffee.

Located northeast of St. Louis, in Edwardsville, Illinois, you'll find this adorable coffee shop and breakfast/lunch cafe. Service was quick! You place your order at the counter, take a number, and wait staff deliver your meal to your table. Staff are very friendly! This was my second experience here. Food was great, except for the breakfast potatoes being a little hard. Likely, since we came towards the end of breakfast service that ends at 11:00am. Overall, very good experience!

Customer service is brutal. The food is good it's just smaller portions. Reasonably priced.

Drab, depressing space, overly-salted food, weak service. The bad restaurant parade just continues around here.

My visit was on a Monday, so it was a great way to kickstart a new week. Once I glanced over their pastry case, I knew exactly what I wanted. I'm a fan of scones and blueberry-lemon is a favorite flavor and they just happened to have one in their case. As my caffeinated beverage, I choose a vanilla and honey latte iced. The scone was top-notch. I was impressed by the number of blueberries that filled my scone. I also enjoyed the tangy flavor the lemon gave it. Blueberry & Lemon, in my opinion is a perfect combination. The texture of the scone was right in the middle of moist and dry, which gets a two thumbs up from me. My iced latte was a great way to start my Monday and new week. The vanilla flavor with the blend of honey, went well with my scone. I enjoyed that they used whole milk in the preparation, it adds a richness to the latte. The cashier who took my order was super friendly and made giving and taking of an order a fun experience. Having been a barista, I liked the professionalism of the young lady who made mine. The tone of voice from a supervisor, is what kept them from getting 5 Stars. I'm in E-ville a lot, so I know I will be back and when I return, hopefully they'll get that 5th star.

I had a few errands so I was satisfied to grab a few things to start my day! I usually get the hot mocha, it was out very fast! Service is always amazing, they bring your drink right out to you & never get your order mixed up. Less than 5 minutes I got my drink, super delicious if you ever get the chance to try I also got a new food items, the pecan sticky bun & raspberry muffin looked too good to resist! I'm also a big fan of the 'day old pastries box' because I do try to cut costs when I can it's only $7 & I love the idea of getting a surprise! They're always delicious and taste like they were made that morning. I can tell they use real, quality ingredients for their food. I have issues sometimes with gluten and certain processed breads, but I really enjoy being able to have something sweet without all the extra junk! I got out with spending about $25, pretty good deal and better quality than most places! I like to support small/individual businesses when I can, I really believe you do get a better experience and product. My favorite place to go to for coffee in Edwardsville, so if you're looking for great coffee with great service, take a look at this place, you won't regret it! support small business

Within the last month, Sacred Grounds has had a change in ownership. My recent visit was to take part of Javapalooza being sponsored by Rivers and Routes Tourism Bureau. When it's warm outside, I enjoy my coffee iced. My go to is, Vanilla Honey Latte with whole milk. If you're having a latte, why not go whole hog and enjoy that whole milk. The rich fullness of whole milk, adds to the flavor. Looking at their pastry case, it was hard for me to choose. However, once my eyes saw the Pizza Scone, I wanted a savory treat over a sweet. The scone was full of flavor, but a little on the dry side. After a couple bites, the dryness did not bother me, because the flavor was so good. Scared Grounds is located on the Main drag in downtown Edwardsville, so next time you're in town, be sure to stop by.

Pro tip: definitely check their hours before you go--and honestly, just plan your day around it because it's that good. I was expecting your typical little coffee-and-sandwich spot, but it completely exceeded my expectations. They have a couple of parking spaces behind the building, and if those are full, there's a free lot about 500 feet down the road. It was pretty busy at lunchtime. You order at the counter, and they bring everything to your table. There's a mix of indoor and outdoor seating in various sizes, and the decor is adorable. I especially loved the maps--they make great conversation starters. I noticed several tables pointing out places they'd visited and swapping travel stories. The menu has a nice variety. I ordered the chicken salad on ciabatta with a side salad. The chicken salad had a strong dill flavor that I really enjoyed, and the ciabatta was perfectly fresh--not too tough. Next time, I'll probably pick a different side since the salad was basically just lettuce. If there was any dressing, it was super light, so I ended up adding some of the lettuce into my sandwich. The surprise standout, though, was the lavender lemonade--a total sleeper hit. It was scorching hot that day, and I wanted something refreshing, so I ordered it on a whim. Honestly, it was the best lemonade I've ever had. I don't usually find myself making a special trip to a café just for lemonade, but here I am. I'm not sure if it's seasonal, but I really hope it sticks around.
