I've only been here for the grand opening of a tea or boba shop so this was really cool! I really couldn't stay to enjoy it with the crowd of 160+ people behind me! Today I went was in the area and wanted to stop by. The staff is super welcoming and explained how ordering works based on their menu of drinks and their "make your own drink" menu. They only have 1 side which was too much for my small children but they enjoyed their flavors none the less. Ordering was super easy even though there was a lot to choose from, there was a minimal wait for our order and they were was a table for my kids and I to hang out at and enjoy some time together. Some of these new boba places be changing the boba scene in Reno with the Cali boba tea vibes. We got the guava sunset, grasshopper, and white crystal all with about 50% sweetness and all 3 drinks were perfect and very refreshing! I love that they use fresh fruits and not syrup. Their menu is clean and easy to look at- not overwhelming! Seating is a bit limited with about 6 seats and I wish they were located more in town but wouldn't mind making it out here for a nice little indulgence. Prices are fair too. read more

I love the Teaspoon in San Francisco, so when I heard about a Teaspoon location being opened in Reno, I knew I had to go. I came with my friend and my dog, so my friend helped me order. Omg why was everything just perfectly made? You can taste the perfect flavor of tea strength, sugar, cream(if applicable), the flavors play throughout. I can probably admit this may turn out to be my new favorite Boba tea shop. Wish we had one in Seattle!! This would blow away the over hyped overly sweet, over done spots that try to open up in Seattle. I've been here twice before (before it was even on Yelp!) but went today for the grand opening! It was a lot of fun, despite the cold. They really rolled out the red carpet for Reno! We waited 3 1/2 hours but they kept us entertained and when we got to the front of the line had some delicious boba waiting for us. Don't worry, it's not like that normally. On other trips we've only waited 15 minutes maximum when they were very busy but most of the time it's less then 10 minutes. Everyone was very nice and friendly and they passed out samples which was lovely. We had Taro Lover, Caramel Cream and Black Sugar Assam and they were delicious! I absolutely love that they stew down their own taro and it is so good! Black Sugar Assam is always a classic and I do highly recommend adding the Oreo to the Caramel Cream. It was time that they opened up a boba location in North Reno Valleys area. As soon as we walked in it was kinda busy with a line. It only took 5-10 minutes to get to the front. They have a good amount of staffing so the service is fast. The Menu has a variety of different flavors. Many mixed drinks with black and green tea. They also have the classic Thai tea, taro, matcha, and house milk tea. I ended up choosing the house milk tea with a substitute for oat milk with boba. The tea tasted very good and oat milk mixed with it was a good combo. The boba is warm when they serve it and has a good taste with the tea. This was my first time trying Teaspoon and I was very happy. We had both the Classic Thai Tea and a Golden Brew. I was very happy to see the Golden brew and hope Teaspoon does another coffee drink as this one was delicious. The Thai tea was also delicious and and exactly what you'd expect. The drinks are good most of the time, but sometimes I got a bad batch of boba. However there is no way to customize/substitute anything on their menu. They offer pastries, branded glass tumblers that are super cute, and to go T-boxes (2.5 liters) with Choice of 2 toppings. They also have an app you can use for mobile pickup and collect points to get free boba drink, free boba topping, or one of their glass tumblers. It is nice to have a boba place in the North Valleys. The place is clean and trendy and their menu is extensive. You can order ahead online, on a tablet in the store, or at the counter. Since it was my first time, I ordered one of their specialty drinks called the Dirty Ube. It was a boba milk tea with coconut ube, and organic coffee. The presentation was beautiful. It was my first time trying coffee in milk tea and in this particular drink, the coffee drowned out the taste of the ube. I think I'll opt for more of a classic milk tea next time because this was not for me at all! They did forget my boba but were happy to add some when I realized. Their boba straws are bamboo which is a nice environmentally friendly option. They definitely don't Pierce the plastic topper like a classic straw though. The drink I ordered came out to $10. I've been to Teaspoon a few times in the Bay Area, so I was excited that they have come to Reno! The shop is small, but clean with simple and modern decor. I ordered a House Milk Tea with boba and a Golden Brew. It was about $13 for 2 drinks and took around 10 mins to get. The house milk tea was pretty good (75% sweetness) as it had that tea taste that I like and the boba was sweet and chewy. I saw the employee making the golden brew and noticed that she poured so much cream (like half the cup) which I wasn't surprised to see because the picture on the menu does show a good amount of cream, but I instantly questioned my decision to get this drink! I then expected a drink that was gonna taste mostly like sweet milk, but when I drank it, I actually tasted the coffee, so it ended up not being that bad! However, if I could, I would have requested just a splash of cream even if it didn't fill the cup. But I prob wouldn't get it again. They have other drinks that look pretty good though! Because it is kind of far out, I'll have to find a reason to drive out this way, such as if I have to go to Walmart or Wingstop since they are in the same area. I have never had worse service than I had this evening! Their sign says open till nine, advertised on Yelp, the app, and the door. We went in before nine, it shouldn't matter how many minutes before nine when it says they close at nine. We tried to place an order online at 8:15, and they had already shut down online orders. we had to get a flex ride which took some time because we don't drive, and got there before nine. When we got there, we were told they were closed, except if we were picking up an online order, which couldn't be placed because they shut down online orders 45 minutes before they closed. Daniel are and John something finally decided to make the orders since it was before nine but clearly told us that they wouldn't do it again. Then, while they were making our drinks, sat behind the counter and talked crap with, a girl behind the counter, who I believe may have been their manager nearby, about us while she did nothing about it. If either John or Daniel were the manager on duty, that's somehow worse, because they should know better! They made eye contact with my daughter while doing so, and then when they didn't make my grandson's drink right, it was supposed to be done in the blender, but they didn't, and my daughter said no toppings, and they put Boba in a toddler drink. They dumped it and started throwing things around. When it was remade, it still wasn't blended. Daniel R was logged into the register, but no idea if he was the one who took the order or not, but the guy who took the order didn't even want to let me put in my phone number so that I could get the points, and my daughter pointed out that she hadn't paid yet with my phone, so he kind of had to. This is not the kind of service that I have ever had, or ever expect to have there again! If you say you close at nine, make sure you're taking orders until nine, and don't shut off online ordering 45 minutes before your closing time! I was going to add popping Boba to mine, but decided not too since they were being so rude. They were rude and this was unacceptable. On top of that, my lemonade was supposed to have 100% sweetening, and was sour enough that it made my nose run. I've had them before and they were never that sour. My daughter's drink is sour enough that it's difficult for her to drink. They didn't take care to make them properly. Okay first of all I wanna say I am SO STOKED that there is finally a boba place in the valleys. Boba is one of mine and my husband's favorite treats! This was our first time coming here and we had a great experience! He got the silky strawberry with honey boba and I got the silky mango with honey boba. Both drinks are good and unfortunately they weren't able to warm up the Red Velvet cake (bummer). I have worked at two boba places: Quickly -- Redwood City, CA location, and Tea Leaf Cafe -- Reno, NV. At both locations, I would man the bar by myself at times, and I had really really high expectations in terms of the service I delivered and drinks made. This review is based on my experience working at these boba locations as well as a customer. Service: 2/5 The cashier greeted us politely. Receipt printed at 7:19 pm. Started composing this review at 7:29 pm. Wait for two drinks -- classic Thai and creamy Jasmine -- was a bit; received my drink at 7:36 pm. Three employees behind the counter. Nonetheless, there was no sense of urgency and work diligence. Music diversity was lacking. Creamy Jasmine quality: 4/5 It'd be a difficult feat messing up a jasmine milk tea. The jasmine tea strength sufficed -- not too weak, not too strong -- so whoever brewed it let it the tea leaves steep a smart amount of time. I had he sweetness level at 100%, which is accurate to what I tasted. However, what disappointed me was how fast that sweetness left once I got halfway down my drink. I thought that the sweetness from the honey boba would help increase the sweetness once I was halfway down, but this didn't happen. Regardless, I would still reorder this drink. Classic Thai Milk Tea quality: 4/5 This drink wasn't bad either, which is why I gave it at least a four out of five. I wish the earthy Thai tea taste was a bit stronger. It was plenty creamy, though, which is what probably weakened the Thai tea taste. Sweetness was also at 100%, yet I found that halfway down, the drink started becoming bland despite how much I shook the cup and mixed the drink. My strategy to remedy this issue is to request less ice. Honey Boba -- tapioca pearl -- quality: 5/5 Sweetness wasn't overwhelming. Teaspoon nailed the texture -- cooked and soft inside with a bit of chew. The pearls' outside was bouncy and soft, too. The pearls were not sticking to each other. I hope the owner doesn't change anything about the way they made the boba. Last Impression: I think the drinks were good...well made even. I just wish the workers did a better job at realizing how many customers were waiting for their drinks and how long they're making their customers wait. It's the establishment's soft opening, so it would only be fair to give the benefit of the doubt. I'll be back, yes, but I hope they have better workers before then. read more
