Super cute cafe with tasty drinks tucked away behind a pottery studio! I came here on a saturday at 1 PM, and was able to get a table for 2 without a wait. The hot sweet corn hojicha latte wasn't actually served hot. It didn't taste strongly of hojicha to me, but I enjoyed the subtle sweet corn taste. The matcha on the other hand, was very matcha forward. The drinks are a little bit expensive, but very worth it for how unique they are and how nice the ambiance is! read more

Very calming and beautiful ambiance. Drinks felt very large if you drink it to stay in the large ceramic bowl. Would say the corn flavor overpowered the matcha for me but it was delicious and the foam was amazing. Service was so nice as well. read more

Superrrr cute and cozy little tea room near midtown east! It's next to a little pottery place which makes it even cuter!!! Superrrr friendly staff and the tea was 10/10. - Matcha latte: 10/10 (very solid matcha latte and the portion size was really big!!!) - Green tea: 10/10 (if you order hot tea, it comes with the whole diy experience. The tea itself was light and airy-- perfect if you're a green tea newbie) - Madeline: 9/10 (they carry pastries from Lysee-- a popular Korean pastry shop!! Okkkk, this is the cutest little hidden tearoom nestled behind a pottery space and a clothing shop. It's got the most aesthetic vibe transporting you straight to Japan. There's some open seating in front of the clothing shop, but we were able to score a table inside. It's a tight space with some counter seats and 5 small tables for two. We decided to try a hot and cold tea, so ordered the Iced Sweet Corn Matcha Latte ($7.50) and Laobanzhang ($15). The matcha latte had the perfect balance of corn without either flavor overpowering each other --quite impressive considering how strong matcha can be. This was divine and such a splendid combination. But the hot tea here is such an experience that you must order too! It comes on a platter with a thermos of hot water to refill your teapot. They even provide instructions for you and all the delicate ceramic cups are just exquisite. I'm just obsessed with this spot! I'm not often in this area, but will surely come back for this spot. I've stopped by here for a little break from work and wow this is truly the spot to treat yourself, but also just to sit down and enjoy a drink or snack in a calming space. I found this via social media and I'd say the IRL experience just can't be felt through TikTok/Instagram, it's definitely worth stopping by; the outside is very hidden so I feel like everyone who does stop by was actively looking to be there. I ordered the Black Sesame Maple Houjicha and it was quite nutty and refreshing, plus they use reusable metal straws. There is bar seating as well as intimate seating for groups/dates. The route to the tearoom is quite unique-you start at the pottery studio through a retail store then finally land at the cafe. It was super nice speaking with the people working behind the bar as we bonded over matcha, spots to check out in the city, and the new seasonal menu itself. Even though I only ordered one drink, I never felt rushed or pressured to order more. Cold foam and other refinements to drinks are all the rage right now and even with absurd upcharges people are willing to hand their card over, so I can't wait to try more drinks in the future from here! read more

The cutest, most calming ambiance! I somehow found this tea room on my maps and decided to check it out on a cold winter day. I was confused on how to find it at first, but then realized it was tucked away behind a pottery studio, which kind of gave it the speakeasy vibe. The actual space is small, but cozy and extremely peaceful. The sweet corn hojicha latte was so good and I was googling a recipe before I even left! So I've been here a few times now and it's a hit or miss. One day, I had a solid corn matcha latte. Another day, I had a clumpy matcha. Because the drinks are not consistent and the flavors are not standout for me, this isn't my normal go to matcha spot. However, I love that this spot is tucked away behind the pottery studio. The first time I came I was very confused but some of the potters told me I was in the right place and to take a left! The bar seating for the tearoom is incredibly cute. They have a beautiful space with mostly ceramic pieces! I enjoy coming here to catchup with a friend. It's calm and inviting. If I could rate on Yelp with a half, I would give this 3.5/5. read more

Super high quality matcha in such a cute, creative, and inviting space! You walk through a pottery studio and a clothing store to get to the tearoom portion, which are def two other spots I'll need to check out next time. The baristas were friendly and asked if we wanted to sit for here or to go - we wanted to stay, but it was too crowded, so she recommended we ordered to go and sit in the common area, which was spacious and right in front of the clothing shop. The matcha was perfectly balanced and high quality. I wish the corn flavor was a little stronger, but overall a solid matcha latte. I'll come back to try some of their hot matcha lattes as well! read more

My partner came here midday on Thursday and we were seated right away. The tearoom is adjacent to a clothing boutique and a pottery studio. Very chill and great vibes. The seem to partner with Lysee for their pastries and we love Lysee so it was perfect. We ordered the yuzu loaf and the black sesame Madeline. Both have very tasty and flavorful glazes and dense/moist pastries. We were pleasantly surprised to find a black sesame cream filling in the Madeline. For drinks we ordered a matcha latte and hojicha maple latte. Both of excellent quality. They have a big selection of high quality tea, I love how they serve it with the set and give you hot water to keep steeping your tea. Love everything about this place! It's a tearoom attached to a clothing store and pottery studio. The design of the store was so peaceful and felt like a place straight from Japan. The servers were all so kind and took time recommending drinks to us. We went in around 2pm on a Sunday and they were already sold out of 3 pastries. I ordered the corn hojicha latte and it was so delicious! The portion was also extremely large and priced very reasonably. Such a cute, hidden place for tea & yapping! Love the vibes and it is so Instagram worthy here! I loved that they give you a whole set with extra hot water to refill on your own, so you can really just have your own private time. You can actually drink SO much tea with the amount of hot water they give, so thank goodness the bathroom is nearby.. We ordered an iced hojicha corn latte which was actually SO flavorful and good! So even the non-tea set options were very yummy. It wasn't too crowded when my friend and I walked in on a random Wednesday night so a walk in should be generally fine. We did yap and take pics until they were closing so the workers did make a comment in Korean about how they were impressed at us taking pics for two hours straight but they were still nice to us when we were interacting with them haha. I couldn't be happier... cutest Japanese tea room in my neighborhood. Cute, classy, minimalistic. I'm so elated to have stumbled upon it. Thanks to my regular coffee shop being closed today. It's super cute, cozy, and intimate, almost like a tiny speakeasy. There's a small bar where you can sit and watch the drinks being made, and a few tables if you want a more relaxed experience. It just has this warm, inviting vibe that makes you want to linger. The tea selection is incredible. They have a really thoughtful range of Japanese teas, from matcha to hojicha with sesame, and everything is clearly high quality. I had the hojicha with sesame and milk, and it was honestly amazing. The flavors were rich and comforting, and every sip felt special. You can tell they put a lot of care into how everything is made. The quality of Matcha here was superb. Adding the sweet corn makes the flavor much better in especially the Hojicha latte. The sweet corn with Matcha was not bad, but it definitely was better in the Hojicha. The vibe inside was very cute, there's a bit of seating both inside and right outside the tearoom. There's also an adjacent mini store with clothing and accessories, as well as a pottery area. Service was on the slower end because only 1-2 people were serving. read more

One of my favorite matcha spots. The matcha on its own is delicious and the corn definitely elevates it. I was scared the corn would be overly sweet or distract from the matcha itself, but it's not sweet and actually pairs well with the matcha. I've also tried their hojicha and thought the flavor was nice - though it's not as strong as the matcha flavor in my opinion. I like how they have a seating area right outside (indoors) if you don't want to dine-in (which has a different menu that I haven't tried). The service is fast and I would recommend getting there early. It gets quite busy around 3-4pm and the seating area gets quite full. The only part I'm sad about is that they open at 12pm, I wished they opened earlier :') Another win from hand hospitality. read more

loveeee this cute little hidden tea room in a pottery studio! will def be back for the treats, teas, and ambiance. the food: we tried the kouign amann and the black sesame madeline. made by lysee, these were of course so good and the only thing to expect is that the portion is quite small. the drinks: tried both the matcha and hojicha corn iced lattes, i muchhh prefer the hojicha one as the corn wasn't as strong and the hojicha flavor really came through. the matcha flavor really gets subdued by the corn, so i would recommend just getting a plain matcha if you're looking for that taste! the space: so minimalistic and well done, i loved the wooden interior and also the handmade pottery throughout read more

when you walk in you might just be met with a pottery class.. and then a clothing store.. and then the most zen tea shop you've ever stepped into midtown east has some hidden gems and tearoom by calmplex is one of them. I stopped in to try on my way to an appointment and I wasn't sure if I was in the right place since they have a cute pottery studio which I plan to come back and try. Through there is a door to the sitting space and the tearoom. It is a small but beautiful space! I loved the ambiance. The menu has so many interesting drinks! I didn't know what to choose but went with a popular one recommended by the staff. The Sweet Corn Matcha Latte was delicious! I went with the Hot since it was cold outside and it did not disappoint. Very cute tea room hidden tucked downstairs behind a pottery studio and a small clothing store. Tea and service is all handled with care. I got the matcha with almond milk served in a beautiful bowl and my friend got a more traditional tea served with a cookie. The space is lovely and I highly recommend visiting. read more

Came here again to get a Hojicha latte and I was just as delighted as the first time! I love Hojicha tea in any form, and their latte is one of the best I've had. The energy is so calming; it's like an island of peace in Manhattan. Light jazzy music plays in the background but is not overwhelming. The servers are polite and quiet-spoken, and other customers similarly maintain the air of tranquility. Truly my favorite place to come and unwind, when even my apartment feels too stifling or chaotic. 10/10, this place is criminally underrated--but that's just part of the charm. read more

I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! I needed a sweet pick-me-up after missing a train home. While the ice cream flavors looked interesting, I opted for a blue coconut iced matcha latte instead. Aside from the striking visuals, the drink tasted great. There was sweetness from the matcha and the coconut but not super overtly sugary. I also got a box of four donuts. They're a little pricey, but each donut is a pretty hefty ring of chewy glutinous rice flour batter. I had them the following morning, and the donuts still tasted fresh. There was a little bit of oiliness from the frying, but it did not taste off or too greasy. I think this is from the meticulous frying process and good management of the oil. I got the Cookies and Cream, Rose, Lavender, and Pistachios. I loved the Rose and Lavender flavors, especially the lavender which had a solid floral flavor without being perfume-y. I look forward to trying other donuts and sweets from Bear Donut in the future!

It's a really big space - there's a lot of seating both downstairs and upstairs. The pastries are a little bit pricey. I tried the mango cake and also the black sesame rice cake. The rice cake was good, but the sporks they give you are completely useless against the rice cakes. The mango cake was about the blandest cake I've ever had in my life. One good thing is that, at least on the upper level, they do not rush you out whatsoever. You can literally stay for as long as you want.

Paris Baguette is a neighborhood bakery café, bringing expertly crafted baked and brewed goods to the community. Their bakers, cakers, and baristas serve up handcrafted cakes, freshly baked pastries and breads, delicious Lavazza coffee, and more. One thing that really stood out is their PB Rewards program. It's super easy to join via their app, and you earn 1 point per $1 spent toward free pastries, drinks, cake slices, and more and i even got a free pastry just for signing up. I ordered a chai latte and my free strawberry croissant pastry filled with soft custard cream and strawberries, dusted with powdered sugar. The strawberry croissant had fresh strawberries and cream and it was the perfect breakfast after a run in Central Park. The second visit was to take advantage of their BOGO cake slice deal through the rewards app. It's a fun way to explore their cake selection without paying full price. I ordered the Blueberry chiffon cake slice filled with soft cream, topped with blueberry yogurt soft cream and blueberries and the strawberry soft cream cake slice, a vanilla cake filled with soft cream and fresh strawberries, topped with more berries. Service was friendly and the line moved quickly. Prices are typical for midtown NYC, but all the reward app perks make it more reasonable. I will definitely be back to earn more rewards and try more of their pastries.

It was easy to get to walking down from the Bryant Park area. When we got there it was busy, but not too busy. My wife and I split a slice of chocolate mousse cake. The price is just right for the perfect size slice for sharing. On our prior trip it was a lot busier and it took a while to get a seat so we could eat. This time it wasn't as crowded and we were able to sit right away after getting our slice. On future trips to New York we'll definitely have to come back and try some of the other items available.

I really enjoy this location because you can chill in the ACE hotel lobby after, which is dimly lit and homey. As is the case with every coffee shop in New York, I wish I wasn't paying nearly 10 bucks for a latte. But these are the times we live in. Either way, I keep coming back!
